Dogs Are Amazing

Yesterday Sara Carter reported that Border Control canines found $60k worth of fentanyl pills hidden inside burritos.

The article reports:

A Yuma Sector Border Patrol canine uncovered almost $60,000 worth of the drugs in the backpack of a man crossing a checkpoint near Arizona, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a press release Tuesday.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated the following in their press release:

A canine handler referred the male driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe to the checkpoint’s secondary inspection area at approximately 3 p.m., after his canine partner alerted to the vehicle. While in secondary, the canine alerted to a black backpack that was located inside the vehicle. Agents searched the backpack and discovered several small packages containing fentanyl pills that were stuffed inside breakfast burritos.

The packages of fentanyl had a combined weight of just over five pounds with an estimated street value of nearly $60,000.

A 37-year-old Lawfully Admitted Permanent Resident was arrested and the fentanyl was seized and processed per CBP guidelines.

Smugglers are under the false assumption that they can disguise drugs within food to throw off canines and their handlers. On the contrary, canines have the ability to detect a target odor among a myriad of other odors.

Our local sheriff one commented that a person might walk into a house and notice that there was beef stew cooking. A dog’s sense of smell is so acute that he would be thinking ‘you left out the carrots.’ Thank God for our men at the border and the dogs that work alongside them.

Why Border Security Matters

Yesterday The Epoch Times posted an article about what is happening at our southern border.

The article reports:

A Border Patrol section chief reported that in recent days, more than 861 criminals have been encountered at the border, including 92 sex offenders and 63 gang members.

“Within the copious amounts of groups being encountered in” the Rio Grande Valley sector in Texas, “a Salvadoran man with a prior conviction for murder was discovered” along with 862 criminal aliens, Chief Patrol Agent Brian Hastings wrote on Twitter Saturday.

Hastings wrote that recently, agents encountered five large groups of illegal immigrant families, unaccompanied minors, and some adults—totalling 539.

The article concludes:

“The administration is doing the right thing because the law requires that we process unaccompanied minors,” Rep. Filemon Vela (D-Texas) said in a statement on March 24. “However, we are in the middle of a pandemic and our systems are being overwhelmed.”

Vela, citing Border Patrol data, said that 13 percent of unaccompanied minors encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border are under the age of 12, while the majority are aged 13 or older.

“One logical approach to this situation would be to return the older teenagers to their home country and provide funding for an effort supervised by the United Nations to properly care for those teenagers upon their return,” Vela said. “Then, once the pandemic is under control you could phase the program back in so that there would be some semblance of control over the process. I think that this would help relieve the current burden.”

At the same time, the White House has faced pushback from members of the media, who have decried a lack of transparency surrounding facilities being used to hold children and other illegal migrants.

People are dying because they believe they can get into America. Americans are locked down while our southern border is allowing people who may have the coronavirus to come into our country. This is an extreme form of cruelty and insanity.

Actions Have Consequences

The Blaze reported the following today:

The Biden administration is searching for answers on how to handle the current border crisis, which has seen the highest number of illegal immigrants at the U.S. southern border in the last 20 years, according to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and a senior official with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. President Joe Biden nullified many of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, but Mexican officials say that the previous administration’s tough stance on illegal immigration helped curb migrants from Central and South America from making the journey north.

Our southern border is in crisis. We are being overwhelmed with unaccompanied children, many of whom will be sold to sex traffickers and other unsavory characters. We simply do not have the facilities to shelter all of the people trying to get into the country. We are not able to test all of the people coming in, and we are releasing some who test positive for the coronavirus into the country. This is a recipe for disaster, and it was totally avoidable.

The article notes:

On his first day in the White House, President Biden stopped all construction on the border wall.

Biden created a task force to reunite children who were separated from their parents during the Trump administration.

Biden signed an executive action that “will direct the State Department, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security to review guidelines and policies implemented under Trump to determine whether they are in line with the government’s desire to promote ‘integration and inclusion,'” according to NBC News.

The Biden administration reinstituted the Central American minors program, an Obama-era immigration policy that allowed parents who are lawfully present in the U.S. to request refugee status for their children who are living in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. The Trump administration ended the program in 2017.

The Biden administration announced last month that it would phase out Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy.

“Beginning on February 19, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin phase one of a program to restore safe and orderly processing at the southwest border,” the Department of Homeland Security said. “DHS will begin processing people who had been forced to ‘remain in Mexico’ under the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). Approximately 25,000 individuals in MPP continue to have active cases.” The Trump administration made an agreement with the Mexican government that allowed U.S. border officials to send back more than 70,000 migrants to Mexico under the Migrant Protection Protocols.

Biden’s proposed “groundbreaking” immigration reform plan is expected to provide a pathway to citizenship to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants residing in the United States.

Unless the Biden administration realizes the mess it has created and begins to change its policy, the situation at the border is only going to get worse. There is currently an order preventing reporters from doing ‘ride alongs’ with the border patrol and a gag order on the border patrol speaking to reporters. Because of the lack of transparency, many Americans are not aware of how miserable the conditions at our southern border are. We need transparency, and we need a change of policy.

The Dangers Of An Unsecured Border

Gregg Jarrett posted an article today about the crisis that is unfolding at our southern border.

The article reports:

U.S. Representatives John Katko (R-NY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) visited with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials at the southern border, and what they found is beyond a border crisis. It’s not just refugees fleeing to the United States in hopes of a better life that we are facing.

Some migrants arrested at the border in just the last week are “threats to national security who are listed on a federal terrorist watch list.” In an interview with Syracuse.com, Katko said he spoke with border patrol agents Monday during a fact-finding trip with roughly a dozen House Republicans to the border near El Paso, Texas.

Katko learned over 100 migrants have been caught crossing the border illegally on Sunday night alone. “They’re getting very bold now,” Katko said. Syracuse.com reports “U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials reported making 100,441 arrests and detentions in February, up 28% from the previous month and 173% from last year.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy spoke in a news conference Monday alongside Katko to discuss their findings. “When I walked through the facility, there were more Haitians than any other people I saw,” said McCarthy, who also mentioned people on the terror watch list from Iran, Yemen, and Sri Lanka, have been mixed in with those fleeing Central America.

Katko said of the border crisis that not only are they not testing for COVID-19, but about half of border patrol agents have not received the vaccine. Katko also said because Biden stopped the construction of Trump’s border wall, unnecessary gaps have been left and are being exploited by smugglers.

Lawlessness reigns on our southern border. The cartels are getting rich. Human traffickers and drug smugglers are exploiting the open border. People who have tested positive for Covid-19 are given bus tickets and plane tickets to travel throughout the country. This is a recipe for disaster. Our current government is not working to protect the American people, which is its major responsibility.

A Great Example Of Should You Believe What You See Or What You Hear?

One America News is reporting today that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has stated that he does not believe there is a crisis at the southern border of America.

The article reports:

While speaking during a White House press briefing on Monday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was asked by a reporter about the migrant crisis and seemed to ignore the question.

When asked if he believed their was a crisis at the southern border, Mayorkas responded with a “no” and shifted to note their was simply “a challenge at the border” that was being managed.

This comes as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials are reporting thousands of migrants are trying to cross into the U.S. while the border is being overrun by new caravans from Central America.

The article continues:

During his briefing, Secretary Mayorkas also failed to acknowledge human-smuggling at the border while suggesting alien minors could be legitimate refugees.

“We are not apprehending a 9-year-old child who’s come alone, who has traversed Mexico, whose parents, whose loving parents, had sent that child alone,” he stated. “We’re not expelling that 9-year-old child to Mexico when that child’s origin, country of origin, was Guatemala, Honduras or El Salvador.”

Critics have said “loving parents” do not send their children into crime ridden areas and have pointed to the documented cases of child exploitation and sex-trafficking in Northern Mexico.

According to reports, Customs and Border Protection expects roughly 13,000 unaccompanied children will attempt to illegally cross the border in May. This follows after a surge of child apprehensions recorded in February, which caused the Biden administration to open a facility in Texas.

Yesterday I posted an article about the free transportation being provided to people who have entered the country illegally. The illegal aliens are given a ticket to wherever they choose. This is one way to avoid the optics of large crowds at the border illegally entering America. Yes, there is a crisis. No, the Biden administration is not handling it well.
