Who Was Protesting?

On Saturday, the political left held No Kings rallies around the country. Just for the record, these were not grassroots rallies. There were a few people there who actually had an idea of what they were protesting, but videos of the protesters doing man-on-the-street interviews trying to explain what they were protesting are all over the internet and are genuinely funny. These were for the most part paid protesters who got pre-printed signs and were paid by the hour.

On Monday, Issues & Insights reported:

We wonder if anyone has conducted a demographic survey of the people who showed up at the “No Kings” protests around the country, because we suspect the results would be an embarrassment.

We noticed as a rally marched down the main street in Pasadena, California, that the protesters were comprised almost entirely of white people who were predominantly middle-aged or older. (This is a city that is 40% black and Hispanic, according to the Census Bureau.)

So we looked at videos and pictures from protests in other cities around the country this past Saturday, and noticed the same thing.

Seas of white faces. And lots of gray hair. Few, if any, blacks or Hispanics. Certainly not a representative sample.

This is a movement made up of people who pride themselves on “diversity, equity, and inclusion” and champion illegal immigrants and “people of color,” yet from what we could tell, the protestors were less diverse than attendees at the annual CPAC conference.

The article concludes:

We won’t bother to guess why the mainstream media ignored the evidence in front of their eyes. Nor will we try to speculate as to why the participants are so monochromatic. Although it is interesting to learn about how socialists and communist organizations were putting big money behind the protests.

We would bet anyone that had these rallies been for low taxes and less regulation, the media would have been screaming about the lack of diversity.

Still, what does it say about a so-called movement that appears to attract mainly middle-aged white people? Is this really a power to be reckoned with? Or just a bunch of disgruntled baby boomers and aging Gen Xers pathetically trying to find some purpose to their lives?

Whatever the reason, we wonder when #OscarsSoWhite founder April Reign will start her #ProtestsSoWhite social media campaign.

We have reached mass insanity.

Filling Two Needs With One Construction Project

Various news sources are now reporting that there are plans to build a military complex underneath the East Wing Ballroom that President Trump is constructing. That makes sense. Unfortunately the world does not seem to be getting safer for anyone. A bunker in the White House to be used in time of emergency is a good idea.

On Monday, The Daily Voice reported:

Trump confirmed late Sunday night, March 29, that the US military is constructing a “massive” underground complex directly beneath the $400 million ballroom currently being built at the White House.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, the president described the gleaming new ballroom, which will span 90,000 square feet and accommodate up to 1,000 guests, as little more than a “shed” for the secret facility below.

“Now, the military is building a big complex under the ballroom, which has come out recently because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

…The East Wing was torn down in October 2025, a move that drew immediate backlash from historic preservationists.

The project came to light not through a White House announcement, but through a lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, according to The Daily Beast. Preservationists argue the administration bypassed mandatory reviews and public input before bulldozing the historic wing.

The article concludes:

Funding for the project reportedly comes from private “patriot donors” and personal contributions — not taxpayer dollars.

The project is currently ahead of schedule. A final approval vote from the National Capital Planning Commission is expected on Thursday, April 2.

This is a good idea.

Listen To What Your Candidates Are Saying

On Monday, Scott Johnson at Power Line Blog posted an article about a recent statement by Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

The article reports:

The story of the day is uncomfortably close to a literal “bomshell.” Alana Goodman has obtained a copy of what I call the Sad in Dearborn tapes. They derive from Michigan’s radical left-wing Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Alana’s story is “‘There Are a Lot of People in Dearborn Who Are Sad’: Democratic Senate Hopeful Abdul El-Sayed Said He Needed To Stay Silent on Khamenei Killing Because Many of Michigan’s Muslim Voters ‘Are Sad.’”

Alana reports:

Michigan’s left-wing Democratic Senate candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, told staffers he wanted to avoid making a public statement about the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—or taking any public position on it at all—because “there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad” about his death, according to audio from a private campaign strategy call obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

But, ah, the uses of Jeffrey Epstein:

If reporters pressed him to take a position, he said, he would change the subject to Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. “I’m just gonna go straight to pedophilia, frankly,” El-Sayed said. “I’ll just be like, ‘Pedophile president decides that he doesn’t like the front page news, so he decides to take us into another war.’”

The article also notes that the El-Sayed campaign is trying to keep the recording suppressed.

The article concludes:

Here in one story we see the trouble with immigration that has transformed Dearborn into what it is today. We see the deep trouble with the Democratic Party today. We also see the Democrats’ use of Jeffrey Epstein for pretextual purposes. Cry Jeffrey Epstein!

Note the real purpose of mentioning Jeffrey Epstein.

Read the whole thing here.

Quotable quote: “‘I also want to remind you guys that there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad today. So, like, I just don’t want to comment on Khamenei at all. Like, I don’t think it’s worth even touching that,’ El-Sayed told his campaign team.”

Because assimilation is no longer a part of immigration, Dearborn would have no problem electing a candidate that supported Khamenei. It’s time to send people who choose not to assimilate to a country where they are more compatible with the local culture.

The Reward For Whistleblowers

On Sunday, The New York Post posted an article about  Treasury Secretary Scott Besent’s idea for encouraging whistleblowers to report fraud.

The article reports:

Uncle Sam needs you to help crush the billion-dollar financial fraud gangs.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is launching a new program on Monday that will reward tipsters with up to 30% of the fines imposed on criminals who are trying to bleed US taxpayers dry, The Post has learned.

The program includes tips for Medicaid and Medicare rip-offs — and given that fraud in those two programs tops some $70 billion per year according to one estimate, whistleblowers could be in for some big payouts.

Other forms of financial crimes are also included.

The payments will come directly from fines, rather than having the American taxpayers foot the bill, according to confidential Treasury documents obtained by The Post.

“Individuals located in the United States or abroad who provide information may be eligible for awards if the information they provide leads to a successful enforcement action that results in monetary penalties exceeding $1,000,000,” one of the documents reads.

It would mirror a similar scheme run by the Internal Revenue Service, which is also overseen by the Treasury Department.

The article notes:

Medicaid and Medicare fraud costs at least an estimated $68.7 billion each year, according to a 2022 study conducted by the Colorado State University Global White Collar Crime Task Force.

The Justice Department has alleged that $10 billion in fraudulent claims were filed while transnational criminal organizations received $941 million from Medicare and Medicaid supplemental insurers. DOJ

The confidential Treasury warning to banks raises as many as 24 “red flags” for financial institutions to watch for, including claims logged by someone without permanent residence in the US, sudden spikes in billing from newly established medical companies, or making huge transfers to companies overseas just after a direct deposit from the government clears.

The article concludes:

Treasury hit New York-based investment bank Canaccord Genuity with a record $80 million civil fine just three weeks ago for failing to monitor suspicious trading.

Investigators said that between 2019 and 2022, Canaccord failed to file at least 160 suspicious activity reports covering thousands of questionable transactions, with some activity that deserved “red flags” going unreviewed for months or years.

The allegations were unrelated to healthcare fraud, but focused on a Cyprus-based firm that spent years helping Russian oligarchs move money out of Russia.

The corruption is deep, and it is on both sides of the aisle.

Uncovering The Crime

We are hearing a lot about government waste and fraud and voter fraud recently, but we are not seeing a lot of results of the information being revealed. I hope that changes soon. Government fraud and voter fraud will continue until there are serious consequences.

On Saturday, Just the News reported:

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office has been served with a federal grand jury subpoena seeking access to certain voter records as part of an investigation into whether non-citizens may have registered or voted illegally, according to sources cited in a report.

The probe, led by the U.S. Department of Justice in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, marks an escalation in a broader dispute between federal authorities and several states over access to voter data and election oversight.

No criminal charges have been filed so far. Investigators are looking for information that is linked to more than 125 individuals, a source said.

The subpoena is the latest development in an ongoing push by federal officials to examine voter rolls and verify eligibility, an effort that has drawn resistance from state leaders who argue that sharing sensitive voter information raises legal and privacy concerns.

The article concludes:

The criminal inquiry is separate from a civil lawsuit already underway, in which the Justice Department is attempting to compel Minnesota to provide a complete, unredacted voter registration list.

The fact that some states are refusing to allow investigators to see their voter rolls might be an indication that they are hiding something. We need an audit of every state’s voting list that compares the voting list to the list of  American citizens living in that state.

Do We Need A Do-over?

On Sunday, The Gateway Pundit reported:

A Palm Beach, Florida, elections volunteer was arrested for stealing computer equipment encrypted access key ahead of a special election where a Democrat won by 800 votes.

John Panicci was arrested on Friday for taking sensitive computer equipment and other supplies on March 19 ahead of the March 24 special election.

As previously reported, a Democrat flipped a Florida state house district that includes President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Emily Gregory won state house district 87 in last Tuesday night’s special election.

The article concludes:

During their investigation, detectives said that on March 19, the Elections Office was doing a training session for volunteers who were going to help with the election scheduled on March 24.

Detectives said that during the training session, Panicci stole an encrypted access key from a voter registration terminal.

The key that Panacci allegedly took was programmed only for the training databases, but there were concerns that if someone else could reverse engineer the encryption, they could then use it on a voter registration kiosk for malicious purposes.

I am not enough of an electronics geek to know if the piece of equipment that was taken could skew the results of the election, but if I were a resident of the area, I would want a do-over with paper ballots.

Good Work By The Paris Police

On Saturday, Breitbart posted an article about an attempted terrorist attack in Paris.

The article reports:

A teenage migrant from Senegal has reportedly been arrested for allegedly attempting to set off a homemade bomb outside of a Bank of America building in central Paris.

At around 3:30 am in the early hours of Saturday morning, police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) force thwarted an apparent terror attack attempt on La Boétie in the 8th arrondissement of the French capital.

According to information obtained by Le Figaro, a hooded figure stood outside the Bank of America branch, attempting to use a lighter to set fire to a mortar-style firecracker fuse attached to a five-litre container holding an unidentified liquid, which is believed to have been a hydrocarbon.

Fortunately, before the fire could catch, the would-be terrorist was foiled by BAC officers.

The French paper of record further reported that the 17-year-old suspect was born in the West African nation of Senegal before migrating to France. He is said to currently reside in the notorious multicultural Parisian suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis, which was named in a recent report as containing the most dangerous “no-go zone” in all of Europe.

The suspect is said to have told police that he did not work alone, and that he and an accomplice (who fled the scene) had in fact been recruited over the Snapchat messaging app with the promise of 600 euros. A third person is also said to have driven the pair to the site of the attack.

This illustrates the danger of immigration without assimilation. The young man was recruited in a “no-go zone” and offered money for the attack. He has no allegiance to France and obviously needed money (600 euros is worth approximately $700 in American money).

The article notes:

Commenting on the attempted attack, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunẽz said on Saturday: “Bravo for the swift intervention of a prefecture of police crew that made it possible to thwart a violent action of a terrorist nature last night in Paris

“Vigilance remains more than ever at a high level. I congratulate all the security and intelligence forces fully mobilised under my authority in the international context that we know.”

It comes amid heightened concern accross Europe of potential terror attacks, particularly targeting Jewish and American institutions throughout the continent in revenge attacks over the conflict in Iran.

Multiple Jewish sites have been attacked in recent weeks, including in Belgium, London, and the Netherlands. A group calling itself the Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI/Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right) have claimed responsibility, and cited the military operation in Iran as their motivating factor.

Even after the terrorist government of Iran is defeated, there will still be isolated terrorists around the world. The difference will be that they will have to search harder for their financial support.

Reversing Bad Policy

President Biden never had the authority to forgive student loans, but he did it anyway. The people who took out those loans got a nice break (at the expense of the taxpayers) that is now coming to an end.

On Friday, The Epoch Times reported:

Millions of student loan borrowers who thought they wouldn’t have to pay back their student loans under former President Joe Biden’s loan forgiveness plan found out March 27 they will have to start making payments on the money they borrowed.

The U.S. Department of Education began notifying 7.5 million borrowers on March 27 who enrolled in Biden’s “Saving on a Valuable Education” (SAVE) plan that they must exit the plan and enter a new federal repayment plan.

“Today’s guidance, which every borrower enrolled in the defunct SAVE plan will receive over the next week, puts the Biden Administration’s illegal student loan bailout agenda to rest once and for all,” said Under Secretary of Education Nicholas Kent. “For years, borrowers have been caught in a confusing cycle of uncertainty, but the Trump administration’s policy is simple: if you take out a loan, you must pay it back.”

The article notes:

The debt relief ended in spring 2024, when a federal district court intervened to stop further debt discharges.

Estimates found the plan would have cost taxpayers more than $342 billion over 10 years, according to the Education Department.

The settlement between the Education Department and the state of Missouri was approved by a court, ending the SAVE plan. As part of the settlement, the department will not enroll any new borrowers in the plan, deny any pending applications, and move all borrowers into new repayment plans.

Starting July 1, federal loan servicers will start notifying borrowers and telling them how to exit the SAVE plan and enroll in a legal repayment plan.

If college is supposed to help young people become adults, it should also teach them to live up to their responsibilities. They took out the loans; they should pay them back.

Addicted Sharks?

On Thursday, Science Alert posted an article about some of the results of marine pollution.

The article reports:

Sharks in the Bahamas have tested positive for cocaine, a new study concludes.

Researchers from the Bahamas, Brazil, and Chile also found traces of caffeine and painkillers in the sharks. This isn’t a shift in lifestyle from the animals, but rather something that’s being forced upon them, as marine pollution becomes ever more pervasive.

Finding traces of these substances in a tropical place widely seen as idyllic and pristine is concerning – it seems there are vanishingly few spots on Earth where wildlife can escape our influence.

“Pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs are increasingly recognized as contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in marine environments, particularly in areas undergoing rapid urbanization and tourism-driven development,” write the researchers in their published paper.

“Their continual influx poses risks not only to marine biodiversity but also to human health through seafood consumption and recreational water exposure.”

It sounds like a joke, but it isn’t. Admittedly, America may be partially responsible for the cocaine because of the drug boats it sank, but the cartels lost enough boats to convince them to try other methods. The ocean is an ecosystem. When you add things to an ecosystem that don’t belong there, bad things happen.

The article concludes:

“The detected CECs represent a diverse group of biologically active compounds with the potential to interfere with fundamental physiological processes in marine organisms,” write the researchers.

“This represents the first report concerning CECs and potentially associated physiological responses in sharks from the Bahamas, pointing to the urgent need to address marine pollution in ecosystems often perceived as pristine.”

I am curious as to how the caffeine got into the water.

This Could Become A Dangerous Trend

On Thursday, The Federalist posted an article about Finland’s standards for ‘hate speech.’

The article reports:

In a decision released this morning, Finland’s supreme court voted 3-2 to convict a bishop and a member of parliament for publishing a pamphlet explaining Christian theology about sexual differences. The decision could tacitly ban orthodox Christianity in Finland by banning Christians from speaking about what the Bible clearly says.

Bishop Juhana Pohjola and Member of Parliament Paivi Rasanen face thousands of euros in fines and their challenged Christian speech “removed from public access and destroyed,” the court ordered, unless they successfully appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. If they appeal, the case could affect speech and conscience rights worldwide.

…The ruling is the latest in a growing pattern of anti-Christian speech repression spreading across formerly Christian European countries. England now jails more people per day for alleged speech crimes than Vladimir Putin’s Russia, according to a former U.S. ambassador, even imprisoning and prosecuting people for praying silently on public property.

The article concludes:

Last year, the Trump State Department tweeted that the prosecution of Rasanen was “baseless.” In 2021, members of Congress asked the U.S. Commission on International Human Rights to sanction Finland over this case, and human rights advocates asked the U.S. Treasury secretary to sanction Finland for violating human rights with this prosecution.

President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance have also publicly rebuked Europe over its increasing speech repression, but those policies have not abated.

The right to free speech in Europe has been eroding for a some time. In October 2018, I posted an article about Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff who was charged with hate speech for teaching a course about Mohammad that included identifying him as a pedophile (story here).

The policy of denying free speech will come to America unless we are alert enough to stop it. The concept of ‘hate speech’ is not compatible with the concept of free speech. The main problem is that ‘hate speech’ is in the eye of the beholder. What Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff said was true, but that did not stop it from being considered hate speech.

Saving America: Dependence on Government

Author:  R. Alan Harrop, PH.D.

This is the second article on issues critical to ensuring the continuation of America as we have known it as we celebrate the 250″ year since its founding. As one looks back on the history of this great and unique country, it is evident that a strong tradition of personal independence and self-reliance was critical to America’s success. The Founding Fathers gave us the framework for freedom from government control, which allowed hard working individuals to prosper and improve their standard of living. This became the basis for the so-called “American Dream”, where an individual through perseverance and self-improvement could lift themselves up by their own boot straps and achieve economic success. This is the essence of the free market system. The question is, “Where does America stand in the year 2026 on this critical value and tradition?”

Since the mid-1800s, the ideas of Karl Marx (the basis of communism/socialism) have been the antithesis of personal freedom and self-reliance. Since that time we have witnessed sufficient evidence to judge whether Marx or the Founding Fathers were correct. Communist China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela all serve as examples of the failure of communism and its essential element, which is reliance on government rather than on oneself. The Marxist theme “From each according to his ability; to each according to his needs.” sums up how communism takes from hard working successful individuals and gives to everyone else regardless of their effort. To accomplish this requires a strong central, controlling government, which of course is the opposite of the limited government written into our Constitution.

Unfortunately, America over the past hundred years or so has been steadily drifting towards socialism. A few examples standout: First, the implementation of personal income tax in 1913 allowed the government to directly tax the individual. Originally, only the top 1%-3% of workers were subject to paying any tax on their income which could amount to 1% -7% of earnings. The highest percentage of workers paying income tax occurred in 1945 at 60% with a top marginal tax rate of up to 95% of income! The expansion of government taxing of citizens has allowed a tremendous growth of government spending and control over consumption. The size of the federal government has grown far beyond that envisioned by the Founding Fathers and has resulted in government control over much of our lives. The establishment of the so-called “Great Society” in the 1960s by Democrat President Lyndon Johnson opened the door to all kinds of controls from the type of vehicle we drive to the food that we eat. Most of these social programs originally aimed at helping a small number of people who for one reason or another could not help themselves. For example, the food stamp program, now known as SNAP, began in 1964 and served a half a million people. Participants had to purchase the food stamps which allowed them to buy food items at a discount. The federal government in 1974 expanded the program and removed the requirement to purchase the food stamps and received them based on their income. As a result the number of people on food stamps reached 22 million by 1981. As of today, there are over 42 million people receiving food assistance through the SNAP program. This substantial expansion of this program is typical of social programs that may start off small but soon grow making more people dependent on the government. In addition, most of the welfare programs have income limits which discourage an individual from increasing their income since they will no longer be eligible for free stuff.

The impact on the federal deficit has been profound. In the mid- 1950s, federal budget spending on welfare programs was about 5%; now it is 65%! Defense spending has gone down while all other government spending has gone up which accounts for the unsustainable deficit of $39 trillion. No country has ever lasted when their budget deficit reaches such high numbers. America at some point will to face the inevitable. We need politicians that are strong enough to address this budget crisis and stop kicking the can down the road. As British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said,

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” President Trump has reduced the size of the federal government workforce by about 300,000. More needs to be done. People have to be encouraged to rely on themselves instead of the government. If not, we will find ourselves increasing controlled by the government as we experienced during the Covid epidemic where businesses were closed, people could not gather in groups, and had to wear ineffective face masks. Big government results in loss of freedom, period. Always has and always will.

Confirming What We Already Suspected

Ukraine is probably the most corrupt country in Europe. I have compassion for the Ukrainian people–not only have they been invaded by Russia, they have been betrayed by their own government. There is a reason that the government of Ukraine has refused to account for all of the money that America has sent to it.

On Wednesday, Just the News reported:

U.S. intelligence intercepted Ukrainian government communications discussing a plot to route hundreds of millions of American tax dollars earmarked for clean energy in the war-torn country and move them to the United States to enrich then-President Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee, according to a declassified intelligence report summarizing the intercepts that was obtained by Just the News.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard recently learned of the intercepts and has asked the U.S. Agency for International Development officials to scour for records to see if the plot actually was carried out and whether a criminal referral should be made to the FBI.

Gabbard’s team has not found substantive evidence the intercepted allegations were thoroughly investigated during the Biden administration, and the communications are not believed to be tied to Russian disinformation efforts, officials said.

There is a reason that the deep state has been attempting to remove Tulsi Gabbard from her position. This is part of the reason.

The article concludes:

Grassley (Senator Chuck Grassley) in 2023 released an FBI-generated record — known as an FD-1023 — dated June 2020 and detailing allegations made by an FBI confidential human source (CHS) about Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Zlochevsky.

The CHS — later revealed to be Alexander Smirnov — said Zlochevsky brought Hunter Biden onto the Burisma board to “protect us through his dad, from all kinds of problems.” Regarding the Shokin investigation’s possible impact on Burisma’s ambitions in North America, Zlochevsky reportedly said, “Don’t worry Hunter will take care of all of those issues through his dad.”

Grassley recounted that “Zlochevsky reportedly stated that he had to pay $5 million to Hunter Biden and $5 million to Joe Biden, an arrangement he described as ‘poluchili,’ which is Russian crime slang for being ‘forced or coerced to pay,’ according to the document.”

The Biden DOJ charged Smirnov in February 2024 with making a false statement to federal agents and with creating a false and fictitious record. Smirnov pleaded guilty to four felony counts in December 2024, “including creating a false and fictitious record and three counts of tax evasion.”

The Trump DOJ in April 2025 told a federal judge that “the United States intends to review the government’s theory of the case underlying Defendant’s criminal conviction.”

The Impact Of Immigration Without Assimilation

On Thursday, Breitbart posted an article about the number of ‘no-go zones’ in Europe. The number is estimated to be between 900 and 1,000. A ‘no-go zone’ is an area where local law enforcement is weakened and crime rates tend to be high. In Sweden, the Post Office will no longer deliver mail to certain ‘no-go zones.’

The article reports:

Authored by Maxime Hemery-Aymar, of France’s Observatory of Immigration and Demography (OID), it directly linked the mass migration and open borders agendas to high-crime areas, the breakdown of social norms, and even the fostering of Islamist terrorism.

Indeed, the think tank found that 63 per cent of Islamist terror attacks in Europe between 2010 and 2025 had a “verified link” to an identified no-go zone.

“So-called ‘sensitive neighbourhoods’ in Europe remain fertile grounds where such vulnerabilities can be exploited: community withdrawal, perceived exclusion, and petty crime create a conducive context that jihadist recruiters know how to leverage,” the report stated.

The report found a “strong correlation between demographic composition and spatial dysfunction,” stating that identified no-go zones had an average of 40 per cent foreign-born populations, compared to the EU average of 20 per cent and the EU urban average of 30 per cent.

“Therefore, the share of the foreign-born population in the studied no-go zones is more than 100% higher than in the rest of the EU,” the report noted.

The article notes:

Left-wing do-good efforts also appear to be correlated with the rise of no-go zones. Government housing programmes aimed at low-income migrants are actually creating more divides within societies, given that immigrants are “disproportionately confined to the limited social housing stock,” rather than being spread out across the country, the report claimed.

To remedy the situation, the think tank argued for significant immigration reform, particularly of family reunification, otherwise known as chain migration, which has been a chief driver of immigration in recent years. The report also called for increased deportations, stricter limits on residency and citizenship, as well as coordinated investment in policing to restore order, and incentives to see natives return to their cities.

Presenting the report to the EU Parliament this week, President of New Direction and the co-chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group (ECR) group, Nicola Procaccini, said that “if we allow these enclaves to grow, we are not just losing our streets, but also the very values of freedom and equality that define our civilisation.”

The answer to the problem is to encourage assimilation. If someone does not want to assimilate, they need to go somewhere that is compatible to their cultural norms. If you come to a western country, you need to be willing to live within the culture of the country,

The Need For Orange Jumpsuits

On Thursday, The Federalist posted an article about Robert Mueller and Russiagate. Because of the declassification of records from that time period, we now know that Russiagate was simply a plan to kneecap the first Trump administration. We can also observe that although many laws were broken, no one has been held accountable. (for further information on the corruption of Robert Mueller, see here. Some of us in Massachusetts remember him well.)

The Federalist reports:

The recent passing of former FBI Director and Special Counsel Robert Mueller has spawned predictably fawning coverage from America’s broken media. But lost in this fetish fest is any real acknowledgement of the incalculable damage Mueller’s invasive Trump-Russia collusion scam did to the country — and more importantly, how none of its key players faced any accountability for it.

To better understand the egregiousness of it all requires delving back into the scheme’s origins.

At the time, a 2016 presidential matchup between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and real estate billionaire Donald Trump may have seemed a bit unorthodox when compared to the typical national elections Americans were accustomed to. Little did the public realize that this sentiment extended far beyond normal politics, and that the prospects of a Trump presidency were something the D.C. establishment was not willing to tolerate — not Clinton herself, and certainly not the U.S. intel apparatus.

The article concludes:

America cannot successfully move past the Russia collusion hoax until its founders and lawbreaking participants receive the legal reckoning they deserve. They and their antics did indescribable harm to the republic and the country’s democratic process that we’re still grappling with years later.

Mueller may be gone, but the destruction he left in his wake is beyond measure. Americans are right to demand justice for what he and his team did to the country. And until they get it, they have no reason to waiver in that desire.

Please follow the link to read the entire article. Unless the people who willingly broke laws and took away innocent people’s civil rights are brought to justice, equal justice under the law will not truly exist in America.

Plans For Creating A Country Within A Country Have Been Stopped

On Monday, The Daily Caller posted an article about the plans to create a Muslim-only community in Texas. Thanks to investigative reporting, public involvement, and the work of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the plans have been cancelled.

The article reports:

Developers and local officials canceled a proposal for a new Muslim-based city in rural Texas, according to Republican Rep. Lance Gooden, after a Daily Caller investigation reported on the plans and subsequent meetings.

Kaufman County, Texas, residents became aware in early February that a potential city was going to be built in their backyard and accused local officials of being very secretive about the deal. The Daily Caller report, and locals’ allegations that the project was an unlawful attempt to establish a “sharia city,” led Attorney General Ken Paxton to announce Feb. 9 that his office launched a formal investigation.

The proposed massive “sustainable city” development was set to accommodate up to 20,000 foreign nationals in an unincorporated area of Kaufman County, according to preliminary plans. The potential developer was SEE Holding, a UAE-based, privately held global holding group headquartered in Dubai, apparently focused on sustainability and spearheading a net-zero emissions future.

How long would it take for this community to become a ‘no-go zone’? The community planned its own education system to educate children in the ways of Islam and Sharia Law. Sharia Law is in total conflict with U.S. law on many issues–the legal rights of women under the law, honor killings, divorce law, witnesses in trials, etc. If someone wants to live in America, they need to be willing to assimilate and conform to American law. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your heritage, but if you are here, your loyalty needs to be with America.

Avoiding A Costly Mistake

On Tuesday, Port City Daily, in Wilmington, North Carolina, reported the following:

The U.S. government has offered a French energy company a billion dollars to abandon two offshore wind leases along the East Coast, including one in Brunswick County. In a deal to stop the clean energy source from being developed, the Trump administration settled with TotalEnergies to invest in natural gas infrastructure instead in Texas.

TotalEnergies agreed to vacate leases in North Carolina and New York, after paying around $1 billion in fees to obtain them. This year the company will turn its attention toward construction of the 29 Mt Rio Grande Liqueified Natural Gas plant, develop shale gas production and upstream conventional oil in the Gulf.

The article notes:

DOI Secretary Doug Burgum called the TotalEnergies deal a “win-win” for Americans, while Attorney General Pam Bondi said it “prioritizes affordability for hardworking American consumers over the prior administration’s ideological, ineffective energy policies. Americans will benefit from this significant investment in our energy industry, which will also enhance our national security and grid reliability.”

The settlement comes as the Iran war’s disruptions of oil supply continue to escalate. Fuel prices have surged by 60% in the last month, with barrels trading for upward of $100 or so, compared to the low $60s in January this year.

“Furthermore, these investments will contribute to supplying Europe with much-needed LNG from the U.S. and provide gas for U.S. data center development. We believe this is a more efficient use of capital in the United States,” Patrick Pouyanné, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of TotalEnergies, said in a release.

I have written about the problems with offshore wind and windmill farms in general in previous articles (here, here, here, and here). In the long run, I believe we are going to find out that when you consider the manufacture of solar panels and wind turbines and the lifespan and disposal of them, green energy isn’t all that green. The technology may improve in the future, but right now it simply isn’t there in terms of cost, reliability, and the environmental impact.

The Law Of Unintended Consequences In Action

On Wednesday, Red State posted an article about an unanticipated waste problem in America.

The article reports:

America has a quickly growing waste problem. I’m talking about how to dispose of or treat the vast, rapidly increasing amount of waste tied to the wind and solar energy, which the federal and various state governments have obsessed over, subsidized, and mandated.

…Many wind turbines and solar panels are nearing the end of their useful life, or have already been replaced early, as new, more efficient panels and more powerful turbines become available. In addition, emergency situations are causing further waste, such as hailstorm damage in Texas in 2024. More recently, damage in Indiana and Illinois, where vast industrial solar facilities were destroyed by storms, including hail and tornadoes, took the facilities offline and created a clean-up problem. Nearby residents and communities have expressed concern about potentially toxic chemicals leaching from the shattered panels.

Recycling solar panels is challenging and expensive. It costs $30 to recycle a solar panel, to recover between $3 and $8 worth of minerals, metal, and glass. By contrast, it costs approximately $1 per panel to ship used panels to a landfill, and slightly more to ship inefficient used panels for reuse in developing countries overseas, shifting the waste problems elsewhere.

Because of the economics, less than one in 10 solar panels is recycled. With millions more panels being installed each year, the problem is growing, as was recently recognized in studies published by the London School of Economics in the Harvard Business Review (HBR).

How can it be considered green energy when it leaves such a mess?

The article concludes:

Closing landfills early because there is no more room in the pit or pile is expensive, requiring communities to find new landfills or other ways to dispose of waste. Setting aside so much space in public landfills is making less sense to local governments.

That has led wind and solar profiteers to a different “solution,” piling up decommissioned turbines and solar panels on open land. Thousands of acres are covered by turbines and panels left to decompose over time, with unknown environmental impact, on land useful for purposes other than wind and solar junkyards. This controversial practice has resulted in an increasing number of state and local governments imposing restrictions on the renewable energy industry’s growing number of unregulated piles of unsightly, chemical-laced waste.

The LSE article and the HBR analysis identify the problem, but their solution, forcing wind and solar companies to take back and recycle all their waste, is economically and politically unrealistic. It doesn’t make recycling cheaper, and the costs borne by the companies will simply be passed onto ratepayers and the public. This will make the energy affordability crisis Americans are rightly incensed about even worse. Making rising power bills even more expensive is not a winning electoral message for politicians, I suspect.

Government subsidies and mandates created the renewable waste problem. The solution is not more expensive, misguided government mandates or subsidies, but ending wind and solar incentives and mandates, which are responsible for the huge waste stream.

As of now, the current state of green energy is not green.

Sharing The Pain

On March 19th, I posted an article about the Democrat plan for the partial government shutdown. The idea was to cause so much pain for the voters that they would put pressure on the Republicans to cave to the Democrats. In the process of doing this, they also exempted themselves from the pain. I am still  not convinced this was a wise move. Even if it was successful, they might win the battle and lose the war.  However, not everyone is willing to play along with their game.

On Tuesday, The New York Post reported:

Delta Air Lines is punishing Congress for failing to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

The airline company has temporarily yanked its special congressional desk service to lawmakers and staffers on Capitol Hill until Congress finally funds the DHS, which has been in a partial shutdown since Feb. 28.

“Due to the impact on resources from the longstanding government shutdown, Delta will temporarily suspend specialty services to members of Congress flying Delta,” the company said in a statement first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

…“Next to safety, Delta’s No. 1 priority is taking care of our people and customers, which has become increasingly difficult in the current environment.”

Delta’s perks to members of Congress included benefits such as airport escorts and red coat services. Its Capitol Desk reservation line is still open, but lawmakers will be “treated as any passenger based on their respective SkyMiles status” for the time being.

Last week, Delta CEO Ed Bastian delivered a fierce rebuke of Congress for allowing funding for DHS to lapse, which has resulted in Transportation Security Administration employees going without full pay for over a month.

Bastian called the situation “inexcusable” and railed against lawmakers for using TSA workers as “political chips.”

As everyone is aware, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees have been sent to airports to help keep the waiting lines moving. That is helping with the lines, but it also gives people a chance to see ICE as a positive force helping people.

Good News For Alaska

On Tuesday, Just the News posted an article about oil and gas lease sales in Alaska.

The article reports:

The Department of Interior held an oil and gas lease sale this week for the National Petroleum Reserve Alaska (NPR-A). It was by every measure a huge success. The sale resulted in 187 leases and generated $163 million

The sale brought in some of the big players in oil and gas, including Shell, Exxon, and ConocoPhillips. It signaled a lot of interest from the industry in oil and gas development on Alaska’s North Slope.

It was a big win for Trump’s unleashing American energy policy, but it’s also a win for the North Slope Iñupiat Alaska natives.

Resource development provides over 95% of the North Slope’s tax revenue, which supports essential services in the remote region, including schools, health clinics, water and sewer systems, and wildlife management.

The Biden administration would often say it was listening to indigenous voices, but when those voices collided with the administration’s climate goals, Native Americans took a back seat. Former President Joe Biden passed regulation after regulation restricting resource development, including oil, gas, and mining.

The Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat (VOICE), a 501(c)(4) nonprofit that advocates for the Arctic Slope communities, spent years trying to get a meeting with Deb Haaland, Biden’s interior secretary. She finally sat down with them in the summer of 2024.

“Things have changed quite a bit. And I think it’s a testament to our membership, our advocacy and our constant, consistent messaging, no matter who’s in office,” since the VOICE was founded in 2015, Nagruk Harcharek, president of VOICE, told Just the News

The article concludes:

One of the few projects that was allowed to move forward under the Biden administration was ConocoPhillips’ Willow Project, which is expected to produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day at its peak. Harcharek said representatives of the company had to meet with the North Slope Borough and its constituents in the assembly as part of its local permitting process. Before it could move forward, the borough had to sign off and issue a permit for it.

As projects move forward to develop the acreage sold in the lease sale this week, as well as those in the future, the industry will need to work with the boroughs as part of the permitting process for each project. Harcharek said the members of VOICE are finally getting a seat at the table — not only in allowing resource development but also in how it’s done.

“We have a say. When the time comes and these proposals move forward, they will have to go in front of the North Slope boroughs as well as the other organizations and elected leadership on the North Slope to be able to sell them and get them to move forward,” he said.

Every Vote Counts

On Tuesday, The Daily Haymaker reported that Phil Berger had conceded in his primary election. Sheriff Sam Page won the primary election by 23 votes.

The article notes:

…Initially, he was a good counter-weight to the  left-of-center antics of House speaker Thom Tillis and governor Pat McCrory.  However, as those two moved on — it appeared Berger started to enjoy the perks of Raleigh a wee bit too much.  Berger built a machine with tentacles extending into just about every aspect of governing.  His team — not local parties — was picking candidates to run for the General Assembly.  Money became a very important ingredient to the legislative process. Eventually, all of the legislative branch’s significant decisions were being made in and around Berger’s offices. A handful of folks were often calling the shots while everyone else sat around waiting for instructions.  (In 2024, the Berger machine managed to get two of their own folks elected to the positions of state auditor and state treasurer.)

It was Phil Berger’s world.  We were just allowed to live in it — for a price

There is a Democrat candidate awaiting Sam Page in November.  We hear state Democrats are dumping money on this guy, and that Roy Cooper and Josh Stein have both appeared with him for photo ops.   Perhaps they are hoping they can pull off an upset in the wake of a very turbulent GOP primary.  But the district is very, very, very Republican-leaning.

We also hear word that a search for Berger’s replacement as senate president pro tem is underway.  Of course, that only matters if the GOP holds on to its majority.  The names we’ve heard so far:  Bill Rabon of Brunswick County, Mike Lee of New Hanover, and Todd Johnson of Union County.  In our view, all three would be more of the same. The climate of fear and intimidation needs to be lifted forever from the senate chamber and the legislative buildings.  And, of course, ditch the pay-to-play.

As a member of the Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association, I have made numerous trips to Raleigh to support various issues. Phil Berger has not represented the views of North Carolina’s voters. This is a chance to make a change. We need the Senate to elect a leader with integrity who will represent the voters in the state.

Policies Have Consequences

On Monday, Issues & Insights posted an article about the opposing taxation trends between red states and blue states in America.

The article reports:

The Wall Street Journal recently reported on the growing divide between blue and red states when it comes to income taxes. What it failed to mention is that this shows the genius of the nation’s founders.

“Republican-led states are racing each other to flatten, cut, and eliminate individual income taxes, with 23 states lowering their top income-tax rates since 2021,” Richard Rubin and  Jeanne Whalen write.

And, indeed, this year, nine states – all Republican – either cut their top marginal tax rate or lowered their flat tax rate. Ohio became the 14th state to adopt a flat tax.

“Democratic-controlled states are moving the opposite way,” notes the Journal, “pushing to increase taxes on top earners to combat inequality and plug budget holes expected from Republicans’ cuts to federal health and nutrition assistance programs.”

The article includes two graphs that illustrate the result of each of these policies:

The article notes:

The Journal notes that the number of states with top rates below 5% and above 10% have both been increasing.

“The middle ground is quickly disappearing.”

So how is this a good thing? After all, we’ve written many times in this space about the folly of playing the “tax the rich” game.

It’s good news because this is exactly how our system of government is supposed to work. States are free to experiment with their taxing, spending, and regulating policies – and suffer the consequences.

And that’s just what we’ve been seeing. Millions of middle-class Americans are voting with their feet – leaving high-tax “progressive” states for those that keep their government spending in check, regulations to a minimum, and their taxes low.

I guess my husband and I were not the only people to get out of Massachusetts as soon as we could!

Why We Need To Deport Criminals

On Sunday, Legal Insurrection posted an article about a Loyola University student who was murdered in Chicago.

The article reports:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is confirming new details in the killing of an 18-year-old Loyola University student in Chicago, as federal immigration authorities again press state and local officials over the handling of a suspect previously released into the country and later by local law enforcement.

https://twiiter.com/BillMelugin_/status/2035788581587808479

“BREAKING: DHS confirms that the suspect in custody for murdering Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman in Chicago is a Venezuelan illegal alien who was caught & released at the border by the Biden administration in May 2023. DHS says he was also released from local custody after a shoplifting arrest in Chicago on June 19, 2023.” (Bill Melugin via X)

According to DHS and ICE, the suspect has been identified as Venezuelan national Jose Medina-Medina. He is accused of approaching Sheridan Gorman and a group of friends near Loyola Beach Pier in the early morning hours, pulling out a firearm, and opening fire. Gorman was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have indicated she was likely not the intended target.

Federal officials say Medina-Medina had multiple prior encounters with both immigration authorities and local law enforcement before the shooting. DHS states he was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in May 2023 and released into the country. He was then arrested in Chicago for shoplifting and released again in June 2023.

That sequence is what federal officials are now zeroing in on. ICE confirmed it has lodged an arrest detainer and is urging Illinois officials and Chicago authorities not to release Medina-Medina from custody as the case proceeds.

The article concludes:

ICE has also pointed to prior outreach to Illinois officials, including warnings about non-compliance with detainers involving individuals accused or convicted of serious offenses.

The underlying legal conflict is not abstract. Federal immigration detainers are requests, not mandates, and sanctuary jurisdictions have built policy frameworks around declining them. That tension has existed for years, but cases like this collapse the debate into a single question: custody, release, and consequences.

In this instance, DHS is not pointing to a theoretical risk. It is pointing to a documented chain of events, a release at the border, a second release after a criminal arrest, and a homicide that followed. Federal authorities are now making clear the next decision point is immediate and unavoidable: whether local officials honor the detainer, or once again release a suspect whose prior releases are now central to the case they are confronting.

We need to keep criminals off the streets whether they are here legally or illegally.
