The Stalling Is Going To End Shortly

President Trump is running out of patience with the Iranians in the peace negotiations.  It has become obvious that the Iranians really don’t want to negotiate–they just want to hold out until the midterm elections hoping that by that time the war will no longer have the support of the American voters.

On Thursday, The New York Post reported:

President Trump said he is readying new strikes on Iranian infrastructure — after warning that the Islamic Republic will “have to pay the price” for taking “too long” to negotiate a peace deal.

The commander-in-chief said he is “getting close to ordering new strikes against Iranian power plants and bridges” in a phone call with Fox News’ chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst on Wednesday.

Trump also accused Iran in the phone call of “tapping the United States along when it comes to the negotiating process.”

The current cease-fire has not been two impressive–everyone has continued their drone strikes, only somewhat less frequently.

The article notes:

It came as the president took to Truth Social to warn of retaliatory strikes against Iran following the shooting down of a US Apache helicopter on Monday near the Strait of Hormuz.

“They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!!” Trump wrote in a thunderous post Wednesday morning, after stating that the country’s military infrastructure and leadership were in disarray.

“Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore – They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! ” he added.

It really is time to end Iran’s funding of terror in the Middle East. If we need to destroy Iran’s infrastructure to do that, I am okay with that.

This Is How The Asylum System Is Supposed To Work

On Friday, The Gateway Pundit posted an article about an Executive Order signed by President Trump to allow 10,000 Afrikaner refugees into the United States. The Afrikaners are mostly the descendants of the Dutch settlers who arrived in South Africa in the 1600’s and began farming. Currently, many of them are under threat by their neighbors because of racially motivated violence. Many of the farmers have been murdered and their farms stolen. The government has played a major role in seizing land without compensation. I understand that the minority white population ruled South Africa in a way that did not allow the black majority to prosper, but stealing land and murdering people is not going to change that or bring peace.

The article reports:

The Trump administration intends to accept a further 10,000 Afrikaner refugees into the United States in addition to the 6,000 Afrikaners already accepted, raising the 2026 cap to 17,500. Meanwhile, several patriotic Afrikaner organizations appealed to President Trump to help Afrikaners stay in their ancestral home.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced he was increasing the refugee cap for white South Africans because of “an unforeseen emergency refugee situation”, signing an executive order to “increase the ceiling to 17,500.” Trump blamed the South African government for “recent increases in the incitement of racially motivated violence”.

Presidential Determination No. 2026-14 of May 21, 2026 finds that “an unforeseen emergency refugee situation now exists due to recent increases in the incitement of racially motivated violence on the part of the Government of South Africa.”

“I hereby determine that the admission to the United States of Afrikaners from South Africa in response to this emergency is justified by the grave humanitarian concerns … and that an increase in the ceiling to 17,500 is warranted”, President Trump wrote.

Last month I posted an article about the refugees from South Africa who have already come here (article here). The are settling in and working as farmers. They are a definite addition to America.

The Story Just Keeps Falling Apart

This week E. Jean Carroll was in the news again. She is the person who has accused President Trump of raping her in a department store dressing room although she can’t remember when. She claims the incident took place in late 1995 or early 1996. A defendant has no way of coming up with an alibi if the supposed victim can’t remember when the crime took place. If she could remember the date, the President could show the court his planner from that date. I suspect that is the reason she can’t remember the date.I am amazed that this case even made it to court. Why were there no store clerks or people near the dressing room that heard the commotion?

On Friday, The Federalist posted an article about the case.

Here are a few highlights:

CNN reported that the investigation is centered on whether Carroll committed perjury. Prosecutors, CNN said, are focusing on a deposition Carroll provided in 2022 in which she said she received no outside funding for her lawsuit. Despite her testimony, it turns out billionaire Democrat donor Reid Hoffman paid some of her legal fees and expenses.

…Carroll accused Trump of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman and then sued him for defamation when he denied it in 2019. Carroll notably declined to press criminal charges against Trump because, according to her, she “would find it disrespectful to the women who are down on the border who are being raped around the clock.” Carroll then filed a second lawsuit in 2022 after the state of New York temporarily changed a statute of limitations law.

…Ultimately, Trump was held liable for merely denying the allegation. After Carroll’s allegations went public in 2019, Trump released a statement in which he categorically denied even meeting Carroll.

“She is trying to sell a new book; that should indicate her motivation,” Trump said. “It should be sold in the fiction section. Shame on those who make up false stories of assault to try to get publicity for themselves or sell a book or carry out a political agenda.”

The article concludes:

To recap: A known anti-Trump Democrat mega-donor financed a lawsuit built on allegations by a woman who couldn’t remember the year of the purported assault, and a state changed its laws to facilitate the lawfare — all to assassinate the character of a sitting president who was punished for maintaining his innocence.

I hope at some point this case winds up in a court where the judge has some common sense and throws the whole thing out.

Avoiding Paying American Workers What They Are Worth

One of the problems with the Chamber of Commerce Republicans is that sometimes they put profits over principles. One of the reasons the Republicans in Congress didn’t stop the flow of illegal immigrants until President Trump was elected was that the illegals provided cheap labor and higher profit margins. That is also the reason there is abuse of the H-1B program.

On Tuesday, Breitbart reported:

The government would gain by supercharging the inflow of migrants just as millions of American voters lose their jobs and careers to artificial intelligence, says Silicon Valley investor and AI advocate Jason Calacanis.

“The best interest of America today, when it comes to expansion, is very simple … Recruit the smartest and most driven 1-3m people on the planet every year,” Calacanis wrote May 25 on X, without mentioning the impact on the prosperity of ordinary Americans.

The government should also import many additional foreign workers for healthcare and other white-collar jobs, he said. “Allow for a modest number of worker visas based on our acute needs … This is probably 100-500k [migants] a year on average,” he wrote. He did not explain whether the term “our acute needs” refers to the needs of government, investors, or citizens.

Americans will accept the bigger inflow of legalized migrants if the current inflow of illegals is kept at zero, he suggested: “of course cut off all illegal immigration to accomplish this.”

The article notes:

Calacanis describes himself as a moderate among his peers. His demand for both government support of job-killing AI and government support for more American-replacing migration is echoed by other green-eyeshade investors who are shrugging off the rising public anger about stalled wages, declining jobs, high housing costs, and chaotic diversity.

However, Calacanis ignores the many polls that show rising public alarm at AI, mass migration, and white-collar visa programs.

In contrast, President Donald Trump and his deputies see those polls and argue that AI and migration are alternative strategies for economic growth. “We’re going to need robots… to make our economy run because we do not have enough people,” Trump told Breitbart News in August 2025, adding:

We’ll probably add to [the existing workforce] through robotically… Then, somebody is going to have to make the robots. The whole thing, it feeds on itself.

“When you guys graduate from this university, I don’t want you competing against a low-wage foreigner for your first job,” Vice President JD Vance told students in April, adding:

I want a company to have to pay you a fair wage for a fair day’s work. It’s common sense. But to do that, you really have to do reform of the H-1B and other… visa systems.

This is another reason every college student and working person needs to support the Trump agenda.

Private Sector Growth

Under President Biden, according to AI, 300,000 federal jobs were added. Almost 40 per cent of those jobs were in the State Department or the Department of Health and Human Services (source here). Although a certain amount of federal jobs are necessary, they do not add a lot to the overall economy. President Trump has taken a different approach–shrinking the federal government and increasing jobs in the private sector.

On Friday, Townhall reported:

President Trump revealed at Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Warsh’s confirmation hearing that “100 percent” of the new jobs created since 2025 have been in the private sector, as the Trump administration has sought to root out unnecessary bureaucrats within the federal government.

The article concludes:

This comes as Kevin Warsh is set to be confirmed to lead the Federal Reserve on Friday, with the Trump administration hoping to install someone willing to cut interest rates. The previous chair, Jerome Powell, found himself at odds with the president as he declined to lower rates amid concerns over the economy, including persistent inflation and slowing job growth.

In an unusual move, Powell announced he will remain on the Fed’s Board of Governors, an unprecedented step not taken in nearly 80 years, citing concerns over the Fed’s independence.

I hate to be cynical, but I think Jerome Powell is staying on to make sure that the corruption in the remodeling process of the headquarters stays hidden.

The Current Senate Takes Care Of Themselves–Not The American People

Congress has long since forgotten who they are supposed to represent. Right now I think the only people they represent are themselves.

On Thursday, The Conservative Treehouse posted an article about the Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives trying to block President Trump’s attempt to set up a victim’s compensation fund for those targeted by corrupt government conduct. Yet at the same time, the Senate has introduced a bill that would pay members of the Senate $500,000 for being illegally surveilled.

Hidden in the 2025 Senate Continuing Resolution Bill is the following:

This makes my blood boil.

The article at The Conservative Treehouse notes:

A grandmother silently praying outside an abortion clinic encounters the full weight of the Dept of Justice and FBI costing her tens of thousands of dollars to defend herself. Hundreds of conservatives have been targeted by a politicized and weaponized IRS. Dozens of Trump officials were targeted, prosecuted and spent millions of dollars during their judicial defense – many going bankrupt. Thousands of people who peacefully attended the January 6, 2021, protest were targeted by the FBI and had to hire lawyers. Thousands more received ridiculous subpoenas and investigative inquiries that required them to pay lawyers who provided legal responses.

Yet, only when the weaponization targets a Republican Senator personally does the issue warrant compensation. Think about it.

The article concludes:

The difference between the Tea Party targeting in 2010, and MAGA targeting 2016-through today, is the pesky impediment called Donald Trump.

Review the 15-year history and you will see these commonalities, including DC’s use of Main Justice and the FBI.

The McConnell-minded Republicans were happy to see the Tea Party targeted in 2011/2012. The same is true for the targeting of MAGA in later years.

This core reality is why I support President Trump; indeed, I actually cherish his fighting for us, because the alternative is reliance on our Republican abusers.

In my opinion, the strongest, most based and unflinching MAGA-minded America-First supporters, are the people who bear the visible scars from the extreme Tea Party targeting.

Those of us who went through the furnace of frustration are forged with a unique type of resolve that will never stop supporting Donald Trump.

We can see through the UniParty tricks, schemes and Machiavellian constructs, and we trust nothing.

The DC guards weaponized virtue as an attack strategy. They use our love of country against us. However, one glance at the scars and that approach doesn’t work any longer….

….. and they hate us even more because of that.

That outlook brings me to a place of thankfulness.

I think most of us here realize we have a few years with a political leader in our corner; that means advocacy for our specific interests is on a diminishing timeline.

If we, well, really, he, does not get that thing accomplished in the next three years, well, it’s unlikely to happen.  That clock ticking raises the stakes for us and makes policy issues sensitive and urgent.  This is an entirely understandable sentiment.

I fully support Donald Trump, because the alternative is dependency on a Republican.

Don’t forget to pray.

About That New York City Budget Deficit…

New York City Mayor Mamdani has claimed that he has solved New York City’s budget problem without raising taxes. Great! But let’s look at the small print.

On May 15th, Townhall reported:

Being a socialist means never having to understand how things in the real world work. That includes math, apparently, as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani demonstrated yesterday. He announced he’d managed to miraculously close the city’s gaping budget deficit simply by “taxing the rich” and not cutting services.

That’s a lie, of course. The deficit was closed by delaying city contributions to the pension fun (good luck in retirement, city workers!) and a massive taxpayer bailout from Albany. That means Mamdani got the money from working class New Yorkers, and not “the rich.”

But his socialist supporters fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.

On May 12th, The New York Post posted a list of the increased charges to average New Yorkers to help balance the budget:

As every parent of a teenager has stated at least once, “Money does not grow on trees.” Socialism is expensive.

The New York Post notes:

The Department of Veterans’ Services is also ready to slash unspecified veteran events to save a measly $60,000, and Sanitation is expecting to cancel a battery disposal program to the tune of $353,000.

Under the “savings” plan, officials merely re-estimated revenue they believed would be more accurate, including counting on millions of dollars more for handgun licenses, permit applications to the Landmark Preservation Commission and Taxi and Limousine Commission license renewal fees.

The lion’s share of savings stems from the Department of Education, leaning heavily on vaguely defined “cost containment.”

About $149.5 million this fiscal year is expected to be saved from “improved financial controls,” while an eye-popping $922 million would be saved next year, which would be driven by “improved financial control,” including $30.3 million in procurement “reform.”

Mamdani, during a Tuesday press conference announcing his first budget, insisted his team searched “for every efficiency and savings we can find.”

“It is evidence of a new era of government in our city, one that can balance both ambition and fiscal responsibility, one that can invest in housing, child care, libraries, parks, schools and climate resiliency, while also cutting waste and finding efficiencies,” he said.

I just hope that when Mayor Mamdani goes to President Trump for a bailout, President Trump reacts the same way President Ford did when New York City asked for a bailout in 1975. President Ford said that while there might be risk and some temporary fluctuations in the financial markets, the greater risk to the American people was “provid[ing] a Federal blank check for the leaders of New York City” and not pushing for a “long-run solution to the city’s problems.”

I guess New York City is still looking for that long-run solution.

This Seems To Be A Strange Sort Of Ceasefire

On Thursday, Breitbart posted the following headline:

Trump: Iranian Attackers ‘Destroyed’ After Firing on U.S. Destroyers — Ports Struck; Ceasefire Holding

I don’t mean to be picky, but if people are firing weapons at each other, how is it a ceasefire?

The article continues:

President Donald Trump said Thursday that Iranian attacking forces were “completely destroyed” after Tehran fired missiles, drones, and fast attack boats at three U.S. Navy destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, prompting U.S. Central Command to carry out retaliatory “self-defense strikes” on Iranian military targets and port areas as the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran again came under strain.

U.S. Central Command said its forces intercepted what it described as “unprovoked Iranian attacks” as the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason transited the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman.

The article reports:

“Our three Destroyers, with their wonderful Crews, will now rejoin our Naval Blockade, which is truly a ‘Wall of Steel,’” he wrote.

Trump also warned Tehran that if it does not quickly agree to the broader framework deal now under discussion, the United States would respond with far more severe military force in the future.

“A normal Country would have allowed these Destroyers to pass, but Iran is not a normal Country,” Trump wrote, blasting Tehran’s leadership as “LUNATICS,” who “would” use a nuclear weapon “without question” if given the opportunity.

“But they’ll never have that opportunity and, just like we knocked them out again today, we’ll knock them out a lot harder, and a lot more violently, in the future, if they don’t get their Deal signed, FAST!” Trump warned.

I am hoping that soon the Iranian tyrants will turn the government and the military of Iran back to the Persian people of Iran.

A Quick Look At The Moving Parts

As I write this on Thursday morning, crude oil futures are roughly $90 a barrel and trending lower. According to AI, Russia needs oil at $100 a barrel to continue the war in Ukraine. My earlier research said $80 a barrel, but evidently $100 a barrel is needed to cover some accumulated debt that Russia has taken on because of the war.

Saudi Arabia is limiting America’s use of the Prince Sultan Airbase southeast of Riyadh and is not allowing American planes to fly through Saudi airspace to support the efforts to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz. One guess as to why Saudi Arabia is doing this is that the Saudi’s don’t want to attacked by Iranian missiles or drones. They do not want to be collateral damage in the war in Iran.

The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) has left The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) (and OPEC’s limits on U.A.E. oil production) and has an oil pipeline that avoids the Strait of Hormuz. Look for an increased use of that pipeline.

One of the current leaders of Iran has met recently with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi (days before President Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese Communist leader Xi Jinping). China does not want Iran destroyed or the current government of Iran overthrown. China has major investments in Iran. Is China putting pressure on Iran to make a deal? If Iran agrees to give up their nuclear program and enriched uranium, can we trust them to do it?

Aren’t you glad that you are not President Trump who has to sort all this out?

When Trump Derangement Syndrome Is Dangerous

On April 12th, Real Clear Politics posted an article about a recent quote from Tom Friedman. The quote is disturbing for many reasons.

The article reports:

New York Times columnist Tom Friedman told CNN’s “Smerconish” that he would love to see the Islamic Republic in Iran replaced by a Democratic regime, but letting Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu get credit for succeeding at overthrowing it like this might not be worth it.

“Nothing would improve the region more than the replacement of this regime in Iran,” Friedman said. “The problem is I really don’t want to see Bibi Netanyahu or Donald Trump politically strengthened by this war because they are two awful human beings.”

“They are both engaged in anti- democratic projects in their own countries. They’re both alleged crooks. They are terrible, terrible people doing terrible things to America’s standing in the world and Israel standing in the world,” Friedman said about Trump and Netanyahu. “So I really find myself torn. I want to see Iran militarily defeated, but I do not want to see these two terrible people strengthened.”

At least he said alleged crooks. He can’t support America’s war effort because he doesn’t like the people in charge. Also notice that he doesn’t amplify any of his charges with actual facts. I don’t think the war in Iran is hurting either America’s or Israel’s standing in the world. I think it may actually result in both countries being respected.

Loving your country does not mean that you have to love its elected leaders at all times. I was not a fan of either President Obama or President Biden. However, I never hoped for the military disasters we saw under both Presidents. I don’t care who is in charge, I never want to see another situation like Benghazi or the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Why Are We In NATO?

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was founded on 4 April 1949. Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States signed the treaty. Since its founding, Greece, West Germany, Turkey, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Finland and Sweden have joined. Since its founding, no country has left the organization.

On April 1, The Conservative Treehouse posted an article about NATO’s current actions.

The article reports:

The U.S. supports our NATO posture in Europe in part because it provides us with strategic military bases and operations that are considered vital to our national interests. However, as outlined in the Iran conflict, when we need to use those strategic bases the NATO member states withdraw previous permissions. France has blocked us from flying over their airspace, Spain and Italy have said the U.S. cannot use our military bases on their soil for operations. The U.K has refused to protect and/or escort their own energy assets.

The NATO membership is now a one-way street where they demand our military protection, but Europe blocks us from using our own military assets for our independent operations.

Europe, while hiding behind the NATO protection skirt of the U.S, is simultaneously telling the U.S. what we can and cannot do with our own military. Secretary Rubio and President Trump are now confronting this very visible one-way benefit head on.

The article includes the following video:

America has been protecting Europe since World War II. Our military bases there boost the local economies. The decision of some of the NATO counties to deny the use of bases in their countries to deal with the threat of Iran makes it very hard to justify our continued membership in the organization. I think Europe needs to understand the threat posed to them by Iran (if Iran’s missiles can reach Diego Garcia, they can reach Europe) and help with the war effort. Europe is much more dependent on the Strait of Hormuz for its oil than America is. It’s time for the NATO nations to step up to the plate. Otherwise, why should America be a member?

The Truth Is Seeping Out

On Monday, Just the News posted an article about the lawfare used against President Trump. I need to mention that Just the News is one of the few news sites right now that is doing unbiased investigative reporting.

The article reports:

What did he know and when did he know it? That’s a question former Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland may soon face as the size and scope of Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s dragnet to criminally prosecute Donald Trump comes into fuller focus.

Evidence released in the past week by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley shows Smith’s team prepared a briefing memo in January 2023 – as the presidential race between then-President Joe Biden and Trump was heating up – which alerted Garland that prosecutors were obtaining the communications of as many as a dozen Trump private lawyers and allies and Congress.

The memo made clear that those gatherings were being done despite legitimate claims the lawyers and members of Congress may have for attorney-client and Debate and Speech Clause privileges.

The “AG BRIEFING” document by Smith’s office – dated Jan. 13, 2023 – provided Garland and his office with deep insights into the anti-Trump special counsel’s ongoing inquiry, and its future plans.

The documents were released this month by Grassley, an Iowa Republican, in coordination with Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts.

Garland’s intimate knowledge of Smith’s inquiry comes as little surprise.

Recent evidence also shows that Garland, then-Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, and then-FBI Director Christopher Wray signed off on the launch of the so-called “Arctic Frost” inquiry into Trump related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Garland also said he “personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant” for the FBI’s unprecedented raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in 2022. The Biden White House was also directly linked to the classified documents investigation into Trump, despite its denials, records show.

Jack Smith does not have a great track record–his case against the former Republican governor of Virginia, Bob McDonnell was overturned by the Supreme Court 8-0. How often does the Supreme Court agree on anything?

Please follow the link to read the entire article. It is becoming clear that the government was weaponized against President Trump. The people responsible need to go to jail.

Looking At The Big Picture

Despite what his enemies tell us, President Trump is a very smart man. The backing of the Israeli attack on Iran is a major step toward American national security because of its impact on China’s fuel supply. President Trump may have just prevented an Chinese attack on Taiwan.

On March 3, Red State reported:

President Donald Trump’s latest attack on Iran takes a big economic bite out of one of America’s chief rivals: China.

Over the span of two months, the Trump administration has removed the leaders of two countries that both shared China as their most important crude oil customer. Although China buys oil from nations all across the Middle East, Iran was second only to Saudi Arabia as its supplier last year, according to a POLITICO analysis of data provided by market research firm Kpler.

Almost all of Iran’s exported oil, and more than half of Venezuela’s, went last year to China, which remained one of the only purchasers of goods from the two heavily sanctioned nations. The two countries combined represented some 17 percent of China’s overall oil purchases — a meaningful share for the world’s largest importer of crude oil.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Saturday said it was “highly concerned” by the attacks on Iran and called for an end to the war. The squeeze on China’s energy supply also comes just weeks before Trump is slated to hold a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

…Iran has a single use beyond supplying cut-rate oil to China’s economy, that is to provide a distraction to the U.S. Iranian operations effectively handed us defeats in two wars. Iranian explosive-formed penetrators killed hundreds of American soldiers and Marines. Iran’s sponsorship of Lebanese Hezbollah and the Houthis has created conflict and disrupted international trade. In case of a real war, a nuclear-armed Iran could create a massive distraction to any U.S. effort in the Indo-Pacific and put the Suez Canal as well as Gulf oil fields at risk.

We are in the early stage of a rollback of Chinese influence. From an oil perspective, Venezuela and Iran account for 17 percent of China’s oil imports. Not much you say. Making up that oil volume at below-market rates is difficult. Add to that the fact that the supply of Russian oil smuggled by “dark fleet” tankers is also coming to an end. President Trump and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi have agreed that India will stop buying bootleg Russian oil. In fact, only three weeks ago, India seized a tanker carrying Russian oil; Indian Coast Guard Seizes Three Sanctioned ‘Dark Fleet’ Tankers Carrying Illegal Iranian Oil…to India – RedState. This has caused a significant disruption in the supply of Russian oil to China.

Please follow the link above to read the entire article. The implications of the fall of the current government of Iran are wide-ranging.

Was It Legal?

On Saturday, John Hinderaker at Power Line Blog posted an article about the legality of President Trump’s attack on Iran. John Hinderaker is one of the founders of Power Line Blog. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. He worked as a lawyer in Minnesota before he retired. He is currently President of the Center of the American Experiment, a think tank headquartered in Minnesota.

The article at Power Line Blog states:

Seemingly with one voice, Democrats have denounced the administration’s attack on Iran as “illegal” and “unconstitutional.” But the Democrats’ views on legality vary wildly, depending on who is in the White House. My friend Ilan Wurman, Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota, points out the obvious parallel between Iran and Libya:

The article includes excerpts from the opinion of the Office of Legal Counsel that concluded Obama’s air strikes on Libya were legal. Please follow the above link to the article for further details.

The article concludes:

The Democrats’ assertions about the law–they don’t actually make arguments–are frivolous.

Unlike Ilan, I don’t take “international law” seriously, and I give zero credence to the United Nations. The job of the President is to defend American national security, period. And I would add that Iran posed approximately a million times more danger to our security than did Libya.

Iran has been at war with us since 1979. It was time for us to return the favor.

The Next In Line?

The future of Iran is uncertain. Although the people were protesting in the streets recently, we don’t know if there is enough unity in the country to form a cohesive government. There are a lot of Iranian ex-patriots around the world celebrating the fall of the regime, but the regime has already named its successor. One of the ex-patriot voices is that of Reza Pahlavi, the exiled crown prince of Iran. His father was a dictator who did horrible things to those that opposed him, despite moving the country closer to western ideas. The Prince is making noises as if he wants freedom, but he is in ‘campaign mode’ at this time.

On Saturday, Breitbart reported:

The son of the last Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, called on the country’s military, police, and security forces to abandon the “crumbling” Islamist regime of the Ayatollah amid U.S. and Israeli strikes on Saturday.

“Decisive moments lie before us,” the exiled crown prince of Iran said amid a major military operation launched in the early hours of Saturday by U.S. President Donald Trump in conjunction with Israeli forces targeting the rogue nation’s missile programme and leadership apparatus.

In a statement on social media, Reza Pahlavi said that the military operation initiated by President Trump should be seen as a “humanitarian intervention” targeting the Islamist regime —  “and its machinery of killing” —  rather than a strike on the country and people of Iran.

“However, despite the arrival of this assistance, the final victory will still be achieved by us. It is we, the people of Iran, who will finish this task in this final battle. The time to return to the streets is approaching,” he said.

Pahlavi, who has lived in the United States since 1978, shortly after which his father, the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was deposed in an Islamist revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, called on the Iranian military, law enforcement, and security services to abandon the “collapsing” regime.

“You have sworn an oath to protect Iran and the Iranian nation, not the Islamic Republic and its leaders. Your duty is to defend the people, not to defend a regime that has taken our homeland hostage through repression and crime. Join the nation and help ensure a stable and secure transition. Otherwise, you will sink with Khamenei’s ship and his crumbling regime.”

The hope is that because he has lived in America for so long, Reza Pahlavi understands the value of freedom and can bring freedom to his home country.

Israel And America Are At War With Iran

That really isn’t news–Iran has been at war with Israel and America since 1979. However, last night America and Israel turned the war into a kinetic war.

The National Pulse has the transcript and video of President Trump’s 3am speech informing Americans about what was happening (does that man ever sleep?).

Here is the transcript:

A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran.

Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people.

Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.

For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted “Death to America and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder, targeting the United States, our troops, and the innocent people in many, many countries.

Among the regime’s very first acts was to back a violent takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of American hostages for 444 days.

In 1983, Iran’s proxies carried out the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut that killed 241 American military personnel.

In 2000, they knew and were probably involved with the attack on the USS Cole.

Many died.

Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American service members in Iraq.

The regime’s proxies have continued to launch countless attacks against American forces stationed in the Middle East in recent years, as well as U.S. Naval and commercial vessels in international shipping lanes.

It’s been mass terror, and we’re not going to put up with it any longer.

From Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq, the regime has armed, trained, and funded terrorist militias that have soaked the earth with blood and guts.

And it was a ranch proxy, Hamas, that launched the monstrous October 7th attacks on Israel, slaughtering more than 1,000 innocent people, including 46 Americans, while taking 12 of our citizens hostage.

It was brutal.

Something like the world has never seen before.

Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terror, and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested.

It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon.

I’ll say it again.

They can never have a nuclear weapon.

That is why in Operation Midnight Hammer last June, we obliterated the regime’s nuclear program at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we sought repeatedly to make a deal.

We tried, they wanted to do it, they didn’t want to do it.

Again, they wanted to do it, they didn’t want to do it, they didn’t know what was happening.

They just wanted to practice evil.

But Iran refused, just as it has for decades and decades; they’ve rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore.

Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and to continue developing long-range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas, and could soon reach the American homeland.

Just imagine how emboldened this regime would be if they ever had and actually were armed with nuclear weapons as a means to deliver their message.

For these reasons, the United States military has undertaken a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical, dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests.

We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground.

It will be totally, again, obliterated.

We’re going to annihilate their Navy.

We are going to ensure that the region’s terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces and no longer use their IEDs or roadside bombs, as they are sometimes called, to so gravely wound and kill thousands and thousands of people, including many Americans, and we will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon.

It’s a very simple message.

They will never have a nuclear weapon.

This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength and might of the United States armed forces.

I built and rebuilt our military and my first administration, and there is no military on Earth, even close to its power, strength, or sophistication.

My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. Personnel in the region.

Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill.

The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. That often happens in war, but we’re doing this, not for now.

We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.

We pray for every service member, as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran.

We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm’s way, and we trust that, with his help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail.

We have the greatest in the world, and they will prevail.

To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces, and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity, or in the alternative, face certain death.

So, lay down your arms, you will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death.

Finally, to the great proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand.

Stay sheltered, don’t leave your home.

It’s very dangerous outside.

Bombs will be dropping everywhere.

When we are finished, take over your government.

It will be yours to take.

This will be probably your only chance for generations.

For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it.

No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight.

Now you have a president who is giving you what you want.

So let’s see how you respond.

America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force.

Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach.

This is the moment for action.

Do not let it pass.

May God bless the brave men and women of America’s armed forces. May God bless the United States of America.

May God bless you all.

Thank you.

We need to pray for American, Israel, and the people of Iran at this time.

UPDATE: It has been announced that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been killed.

The Alternative

Some Democrats chose not to attend the State of the Union Address. Some Democrats went so far as to create events running simultaneously with the State of the Union Address. One such event was the People’s State of the Union rally. I am not exactly sure what they were trying to accomplish, but Hot Air posted a few videos on Thursday.

Please follow the link above to see the videos. I could not figure out how to insert them.

The article at Hot Air is titled, “When Democrats Make Donald Trump The Normie In The Room, They’re Losing.” I totally agree.

The article reports:

Donald Trump has had, without question, a first fourteenish months in office that is hard to top in any other administration of my lifetime in accomplishments. And to be fair, it would also be correct to say that no president has stirred up more angst and controversy among his detractors than any other administration in a similar time period.

After last week’s press conference at the White House a day after the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision on the tariffs case, Donald Trump’s contempt for the majority opinion was so palpable that one of the questions going into last night’s State of the Union was how soon and how hard the President would rhetorically apply the Trump tattoo to the justices present in the joint session of Congress.

Trump certainly had words, but they were tempered and not made personal. In fact, for virtually the entirety of the address, which came in a few ticks under two hours, the speech was about the best speech Donald Trump has ever delivered.

At times, establishing the narrative that real progress has been made on economic problems created and/or exacerbated by the Biden Regency, and at other points a celebration of American excellence, whether in sports, or bravery, courage, and resilience in all walks of life, this was simply a State of the Union speech unlike any other we’ve heard. And that is a very, very good thing.

One thing to remember when considering the bad behavior of some Democrats who attended the speech–these Democrats were elected by their districts. To be even more clear–Ilhan Omar probably accurately represents the voters in her district. Obviously, we need to think carefully about who we allow to come to America.

Be Wary When The Lobster Shows Up

On Saturday, Ed Morrissey posted an article at Hot Air about the rising tensions with Iran.

The article notes:

What will happen next in the standoff with Iran? Donald Trump drew a red line nearly two months ago, and the regime brutally crossed it. Trump acknowledged this yesterday, announcing that US intelligence estimates the mullahs murdered more than 32,000 Iranian protesters last month:

…Since those massacres, Trump has assembled one of the largest naval and air armadas the Middle East has ever seen. He has demanded that Ali Khamenei stop all uranium enrichment activities, put serious limits on its ballistic-missile systems, and end support for terror proxies Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. Iran keeps trying to offer a sequel to the deal the mullahs cut with Barack Obama, a JCPOA-Lite that only addresses their nuclear-weapons development – and that only for the next three to five years.

The article notes:

Taking Khamenei and his princeling off the chessboard would be satisfying, but it would change very little. They are not the only mullahs in the clique that runs the theocracy in Iran. The other mullahs are almost certainly not living in close connection to each other, either, likely housed in residential districts where civilian collateral deaths would be almost a certainty. A decapitation strike would have to be timed for a plenary meeting of the mullahs, and the Iranian regime would be idiotic to call one at this time. This option might take the Khameneis out, but another mullah will take their place, and so on. It would end nothing.

So what’s next? Whatever it is, it may come quickly. The Times of Israel reports today that an “unbridgeable impasse” has emerged in the indirect talks between the US and Iran, likely over Trump’s demand for a full-spectrum retreat by Iran. It’s bad enough that the Iranians are refusing to read US proposals on missile limits:

On Sunday, MSN reported the following:

While there is no official confirmation, a common belief suggests the US military serves its troops a ‘last meal’ with a fancy menu including steak, lobster, and pie, before sending them on a war front. Some link the hearty meal to a dangerous deployment or an extended mission. The theory has circulated on social media for years and often resurfaces during periods of geopolitical tensions. …

Last year, in June, similar reports surfaced on social media on June 18 after military soldier Antonia Lopez posted a lavish meal video that went viral on social media. The day also coincided with the US Army’s birthday. In the clip, Lopez showed that she was given steak, lobster, caprese salad, asparagus, hush puppies, a baked potato, shrimp cocktail, fruit salad, garlic bread, cake, and pecan pie in the meal.

Days after the video was posted, the United States carried out military strikes on Iranian targets on June 22.

Hang on to your hats–the road ahead is going to be bumpy for a little while!

This Chess Game Isn’t Over

I am writing this article Friday morning. The Supreme Court has just struck down President Trump’s tariffs. I have been told by an extremely good lawyer that this is not the end of the tariffs–it is only the beginning of enacting them through different laws that give the President the authority to enact them,

On Saturday, The Post Millennial posted an article about the Supreme Court decision.

The article reports:

President Donald Trump on Friday said that he will still be imposing tariffs following a ruling from the Supreme Court that blocked his tariffs issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), announcing that an additional 10 percent global tariff will be imposed under the Trade Act of 1974.

“So we can use other of the statutes, other of the tariff authorities, which have also been confirmed and are fully allowed,” Trump said. “Therefore, effective immediately, all national security tariffs under Section 232, and existing Section 301, tariffs … remain in place, fully in place, and in full force and effect.”

“Today, I will sign an order to impose a 10 percent global tariff under Section 122, over and above our normal tariffs already being charged,” Trump added in reference to the Trade Act of 1974. The comments come after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the president does not have the power to impose tariffs on countries using the IEEPA.

The article notes:

The three justices who dissented included Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh, with the latter penning the opposing opinion. The court’s majority decision, penned by Chief Justice John Roberts, said, “The Government reads IEEPA to give the President power to unilaterally impose unbounded tariffs and change them at will. That view would represent a transformative expansion of the President’s authority over tariff policy. It is also telling that in IEEPA’s half century of existence, no President has invoked the statute to impose any tariffs, let alone tariffs of this magnitude and scope.”

The Supreme Court has just created a mess. There will be umpteen lawsuits brought by the people who paid the tariffs wanting their money back. America needs the tariffs to begin to balance the budget. Congress is totally unable to agree on anything and is not capable of passing tariffs. This is an unnecessary wrench thrown into the America economy by a Supreme Court Chief Justice who declared Obamacare a tax in order to let it go through. I truly wonder about that man’s motives.

This Is Not Really A Surprise

On Monday, Breitbart reported that the United Nations (UN) is running out of money. Does this  mean we can kick them out of New York City for not paying their rent?

The article reports:

The United Nations is going broke and needs member nations to stump up cash. Lots of it. That is the plea from Secretary-General António Guterres who fears the globalist body is at risk of “imminent financial collapse” due to member states not paying their fees.

The former leader of the Portuguese Socialist Party said Friday the U.N. faces a financial crisis which was “deepening, threatening programme delivery” and money could run out as soon as July leaving the unaccountable globalist cabal destitute.

…Guterres sent a missive to all 193 member states outlining his fears and pleading they had to honor their mandatory payments or overhaul the organisation’s financial rules to avoid collapse.

It comes after the U.N.’s largest contributor, the U.S., refused to contribute to its regular and peacekeeping budgets and withdrew from several agencies it called a “waste of taxpayer dollars.”

These include the U.N.’s population agency and the U.N. treaty that establishes international climate negotiations, AP reports.

The article concludes:

Guterres said a rule that the U.N. must return unspent money on particular programs to members if it could not implement a budget created a “double blow” in which it was “expected to give back cash that does not exist.”

“I cannot overstate the urgency of the situation we now face. We cannot execute budgets with uncollected funds, nor return funds we never received.”

The U.S. is the U.N.’s largest contributor, but President Donald Trump has said it was not fulfilling its “great potential” and has criticised it for failing to support U.S.-led peace efforts.

The U.S. did not pay its contribution to the U.N.’s regular budget in 2025 and offered only 30 percent of its expected funding to U.N. peacekeeping operations.

Then in January last year, Trump withdrew it from dozens of international organisations, including 31 U.N. agencies, to “end American taxpayer funding and involvement in entities that advance globalist agendas over U.S. priorities.”

The U.N.s thirst for other people’s money appears inexhaustible as it still cries out for more.

Life gets difficult when America’s taxpayers refuse to pay for everyone else’s priorities!

President Trump Endorses…

On Sunday, The New Hampshire Journal reported that President Trump endorsed former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu in the New Hampshire Senate race. Scott Brown is also running as a Republican for the seat. Scott Brown narrowly lost to Senator Jeanne Shaheen in 2014. Scott Brown was elected as the U.S. Senator from Massachusetts in 2010 to fill the vacancy created by the death of Ted Kennedy. Generally speaking, the conservative base elected him. He did not vote as a conservative and was defeated in 2012 by Elizabeth Warren. I am honestly not sure if he claims to be a conservative or is running as one. I would consider him a basic middle of the road Republican (borderline RINO). John Sununu has the backing of the Republican establishment, but I am not sure if that is any better.

The article in The New Hampshire Journal reports:

During the 2024 campaign, former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu wrote an editorial calling President Donald Trump a loser.

Today, that “loser” is endorsing Sununu in the 2026 GOP U.S. Senate primary. And he’s picking him over his own former ambassador to New Zealand, former U.S. Senator Scott Brown.

“It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, John E. Sununu, who is running to represent the beautiful State of New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate,” Trump posted on social media Sunday.

“John E. Sununu has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN — ELECT JOHN E. SUNUNU!”

Sununu is running to fill the vacancy created when U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced she’s not running again in 2026. Shaheen defeated Sununu to take the seat back in 2008.

Shaheen narrowly avoided losing the 2014 race to Brown, but it’s Sununu who’s gotten the backing of most of the GOP establishment in this primary, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

“John Sununu’s deep roots and passion for the Granite State make him built to win,” NRSC chair Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said in October.

A NHJournal/Praecones Analytica poll taken the last week of December showed Sununu is the stronger candidate to take on U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, the Democrats’ likely nominee.

Pappas held just a 42-36 percent lead over Sununu in a head-to-head matchup, while he had a 46-28 advantage over Brown. In both cases, Pappas was under 50 percent, and about a quarter of voters say they’re undecided.

One thing I like about President Trump is that he is willing to allow people who did not support him to change their mind. Think of J.D. Vance!

Good News

President Trump has negotiated a framework to set up a security deal with Greenland.

On Wednesday, Townhall posted the contents of a post on X by President Trump:

Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

This is about security. The Golden Dome will protect the United States and Canada. It is an advanced version of the iron dome system used by the Israelis. It is a defensive system–it stops incoming weapons–it does not launch offensive weapons other than the ones aimed at incoming weapons. Setting up that system will be good news not only for North America, but for the world.

An Indication Of Things To Come?

Elections have consequences. Unfortunately, not all of those consequences are good. New York City is experiencing some of the consequences of electing a Mayor with little business experience or understanding of economics.

On Monday, The Epoch Times reported:

President Donald Trump said on Jan. 19 that building a New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in Dallas would be detrimental to New York and pose a big test for newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Intercontinental Exchange, which owns the NYSE, announced in February 2025 that it would launch NYSE Texas, a fully electronic equities exchange based in Dallas, pending regulatory filings. As part of the move, NYSE Chicago was reincorporated in Texas and renamed as NYSE Texas, allowing companies to list their securities on NYSE Texas.

NYSE Texas began operations in March 2025, and Trump Media & Technology Group was the first company to list on the Dallas-based exchange and hold a dual listing, according to a company statement.

“Building a ‘New York Stock Exchange’ in Dallas is an unbelievably bad thing for New York,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “I can’t believe they would let this happen.”

What would be the economic impact on New York City if the stock exchange moved to Dallas? I have no idea, but it wouldn’t be good. How much money flows into the city from people who work for the stock exchange through property rentals, lunches, etc.?

The article notes:

NYSE Group President Lynn Martin said in February 2025 that Texas hosts the most NYSE-listed companies, representing more than $3.7 trillion of market value. The exchange views Texas as “a market leader in fostering a pro-business atmosphere,” Martin said.

“We are delighted to expand our presence in the Lone Star State, which plays a key role in driving our U.S. economy forward,” Martin said in a statement at the time.

The article concludes:

The establishment of NYSE Texas coincided with the rise of another major exchange in the state.

TXSE Group said in January 2025 that it had filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to register the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) as a national securities exchange. The company has raised $161 million in an initial funding round and plans to begin trading early this year.

Businesses move to places that have policies that are favorable to doing business. Under Mayor Mandani, New York City may no longer fit that description.

President Trump And The Deep State

On Tuesday, The Daily Signal posted an article detailing four steps President Trump has taken since he took office in 2025 to dismantle the deep state.

The article reports:

1. Reinstating ‘Schedule F’

On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order to reinstate Schedule F, which makes it easier for the president to fire bureaucrats.

2. DOGE

The Department of Government Efficiency reportedly reduced federal employment by about 271,000 jobs.

3. Shutdown Cuts

During the recent government shutdown, Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought cut $8 billion of blue state energy projects.

4. Investigating ‘Deep State’ Abuses

In July, a CIA report found that John Brennan, the agency’s director in the Obama administration, overrode internal concerns to claim that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

The deep state is still with us. Congress has codified very little of what President Trump has done, making it very easy to undo. The 2026 midterm elections are so critical because if the Democrats win either branch of Congress, all of the economic progress we made in the last year will end. Instead we will have non-stop impeachment hearings and a return to the tax and spend agenda that has nearly bankrupted our country. The easiest way to prevent the Democrats from taking over Congress is to insure an honest election. A bill to do that is currently in Congress.

Meanwhile, where are the orange jumpsuits that should be the result of all of the investigations we are hearing about?

When The Principle Of Supply And Demand Hurt Consumers

On Friday, Zero Hedge posted an article that partially explains the abrupt rise in residential electric bills. Part of the rise is due to the green energy policies of the Biden administration, which moved toward more expensive sources of energy, but a major part of the problem is the rise in the use of electricity by data centers.

The article reports:

Back in August, when the American population was just waking up to the dire consequences the exponentially growing army of data centers spawned across the country was having on residential electricity bills, we said that the chart of US CPI would soon become the most popular (not in a good way) chart in the financial realm.

This is the chart:

The article continues:

Turns out we were right.

And while Trump obviously can not pull a communist rabbit out of his hat, and centrally plan the entire US power grid, what he can do is precisely what he is about to announce.

According to Bloomberg, Trump and the governors of several US Northeastern states agreed to push for an emergency wholesale electricity auction that would compel technology companies to effectively fund new power plants, effectively putting a cap for residential power prices at the expense of hyperscalers and data centers. Which, come to think of it, we also proposed back in October.

The article concludes:

Trump’s initiative will deliver another benefit: the effort has the potential to help PJM tackle a significant roadblock: improving the accuracy of its forecasts for demand growth. With tech giants paying for the power plants they need, the approach could weed out speculative projects that have skewed demand growth projections, something we discussed earlier.

As Bloomberg notes, the involvement of Democratic governors – including Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro and Maryland’s Wes Moore – is seen by the Trump administration as helping to anchor the effort, since state policies have driven recent changes in the power mix, including the retirement of coal and gas plants. The initiative is also seen aiding hyperscalers by ensuring reliable power supply, and it could be a model for other parts of the country, the White House official said.

Governors are committing to implement and assign these costs to the data centers, ensuring the price of these new power plants doesn’t land on the average household, the White House official said.

PJM’s auctions have emerged as a political flashpoint in the national debate about affordability after prices reached record levels in 2024. Although Pennsylvania’s Shapiro struck a deal with PJM to cap prices in future auctions, costs hit new highs in two subsequent sales. In fact, had it not been for an implicit cap in the latest auction, residential prices would have been 60% higher (see “Inside The PJM Auction Report, Something Crazy: Without Price Controls, Electricity Bills Would Explode“.)

The most recent auction, in December, also fell 6.6 gigawatts short of supplies, which PJM blamed on the frenzy to build massive data centers. PJM is now being asked to extend the price cap for auctions held through this year, the White House official said.

While the statement of principles being signed Friday isn’t a binding legal document, administration officials have discussed the plan with a host of stakeholders, from PJM executives and state officials, to utilities, power-plant developers, Wall Street and the hyperscalers building these data centers, the official said.

I don’t claim to understand all of this, but I do know that in recent months my electric bill has increased significantly.
