Following The Money

If you are not familiar with the history of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR), one important thing to know is that the group was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Trial (details here).

On Tuesday, The New York Post posted an article about the money being paid to the anti-Israel agitators that created disturbances at America’s colleges.

The article reports:

Anti-Israel agitators who spread disruption at US colleges and were punished by authorities were awarded checks for $1,000 by a Muslim nonprofit, The Post has learned.

The money was given to students who faced penalties for leading pro-Palestinian protests before and after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 2023, according to a bombshell report by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and the Intelligent Advocacy Network (IAN).

The cash was awarded from a “Champions of Justice Fund,” set up by the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) as “institutional endorsement,” the report claims.

In California, the largest arm of the CAIR web of nonprofits, affiliates in San Francisco and Los Angeles raised more than $100,000 in donations for campus radicals, while the main group solicited $64,000 in donations, records show.

The article also notes:

CAIR says it is the largest Muslim charity in the US, receiving hundreds of thousands in donations from progressive nonprofits, including Tides Foundation and the California-based Weingart Foundation.

It claims that less than 1% of its funding comes from outside of the US. However, when an ex-employee, Lori Saroya, filed a lawsuit against CAIR for defamation, which asked for details on who their foreign sources of funding were, and a judge ruled they had to disclose them, the charity abruptly settled the case out of court.

The charity had previously been awarded $500,000 from Saudi Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal, according to a 2002 report in Arabnews.com

Separately, CAIR-CA is under probe by the Department of Justice, according to IAN, and the California Fair Political Practices Commission over alleged financial misrepresentation of federal funds.

In one instance, the charity took $7.2 million in taxpayer cash intended to settle impoverished immigrants in California between 2022 and 2024.

The cash, which was intended to assist 1,800 Afghan refugees, only helped 177 Afghan refugees from 2021 to 2023, less than 10% percent of the total it was meant to serve, according to the report.

Much of the money could not be accounted for within CAIR’s official filings, reviewed by The Post.

Trouble In The Tank

The Heritage Foundation is one of the major think tanks in the conservative movement. Lately there has been some serious trouble within that think tank. The dust-up is in the reaction to an interview Tucker Carlson did with Nick Fuentes. I question the wisdom of anyone giving a platform to Nick Fuentes, but the interview happened, and there was very little push-back from Tucker Carlson during the interview. Essentially, Tucker Carlson sat quietly by while Nick Fuentes repeated a lot of lies about World War II and about the Jewish people.

On Monday, The New York Post reported:

A senior conservative legal scholar who holds one of Princeton University’s top academic chairs has resigned from the Heritage Foundation’s board in protest of the think tank president’s defense of Tucker Carlson’s interview with white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

Robert P. George, long regarded as one of the right’s leading constitutional thinkers, is the latest figure to step down amid an internal revolt that has already prompted at least seven other staffers, fellows and task force members to sever ties.

His departure came after a leaked video showed Heritage president Kevin Roberts standing behind Carlson in the wake of the host’s podcast appearance with Fuentes.

“I have resigned from the board of the Heritage Foundation. I could not remain without a full retraction of the video released by Kevin Roberts, speaking for and in the name of Heritage, on October 30th,” George wrote in a Facebook post announcing his departure.

“Although Kevin publicly apologized for some of what he said in the video, he could not offer a full retraction of its content. So, we reached an impasse,” he added.

The article notes:

George’s exit is just the latest sign of a widening rupture inside the conservative policy powerhouse, which has been hit by a series of defections since Roberts released the video defending Carlson.

In the clip, Roberts rejected calls to distance Heritage from the former Fox News host and insisted the group would not “cancel” either Carlson or Fuentes, whose extremist record includes Holocaust denial and repeated antisemitic statements.

The backlash was immediate. Members of Heritage’s National Task Force to Combat Antisemitism quit en masse, several scholars and fellows publicly walked away, and Roberts’ own chief of staff stepped down after amplifying posts attacking internal critics.

The only reason to give someone like Nick Fuentes a platform is the show the absolute intellectual vacuity of antisemitism.

Life Is Hard When You Don’t Have Any More Influence To Sell

On Saturday, Townhall posted an article about a recent podcast interview of Hunter Biden. I need to say up front that I wish Hunter Biden a successful trip to drug rehab and honest employment afterward. May he have a successful, clean, sober, and honest life. I am not willing to make a wager on the possibility of that happening, but it is my wish for him.

The article’s opening paragraph says it all:

Hunter Biden needs to go away. He won’t, but give it a rest, man. You and your family are done in professional politics. You are sure as hell aren’t going to be elected to anything. Your dad drools in his soup. And your laptop is what opened Pandora’s box into your family’s alleged government access shenanigans. It was the roadmap. Then, daddy started to fall apart—and his own party booted him off the ticket because he was going to get slaughtered by Donald Trump in 2024.

The sad part of the interview is that Hunter Biden in no way is taking responsibility for his past (or present) actions.

The article reports:

During his sit-down on the Wide Awake Podcast, Hunter went off on Miranda Devine, one of the reporters at The New York Post, who reported on the Biden crime family. The other, at the time, was Emma-Jo Morris. He also whined about The Daily Mail, said they were “whores,” which is ironic given that he goes through escorts like senior citizens at an Old Country Buffet. We know about the Chateau Marmont, Hunter, and what you did with those M&Ms.

I don’t know what is worse–his continual quest to be in the spotlight or the fact that some of the media is putting him in the spotlight. The Bidens need to be encouraged to and allowed to ride off into the sunset.

Elections Have Consequences

I have always enjoyed visiting New York City. I went to school there. My husband worked in a recording studio there when I met him. One of my daughters went to school there and lived there for a few years afterward. I loved visiting her–we walked everywhere and shopped till we dropped. I suspect that a lot of the things I loved about the city are about to change.

The New York Times has the full transcript of Mayor Mamdani’s speech. It includes:

Together, New York, we’re going to freeze the… [rent!] Together, New York, we’re going to make buses fast and… [free!] Together, New York, we’re going to deliver universal… [child care!]

If he can get these changes through the city council, these actions will have consequences. One of the consequences of his election is already occurring.

On November 3rd, The New York Post reported:

As Wall Street faces the prospect of left-wing firebrand Zohran Mamdani becoming the city’s next mayor, a fast-growing business hub down south is beckoning.

Dallas — whose grab bag of major business moguls has included Ross Perot, Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones — has more recently become a major draw for big financial firms that were born and raised in the Big Apple.

Goldman Sachs is building an 800,000-square-foot, $500 million campus in Dallas. It’s set to open in 2028 and consolidate over 5,000 employees. Last year, the mega bank hired Robert Kaplan, the former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, as its vice chairman.

On November 5th, The University of Texas at Arlington reported:

A new financial powerhouse could soon emerge in the heart of Texas. The Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE), based in Dallas, has received approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to operate as a national exchange—positioning it to compete with the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. Backed by more than $160 million from major investment firms like BlackRock and Citadel Securities, TXSE plans to begin listing stocks by late 2026.

To explain what this means for businesses, investors and the Texas economy, The University of Texas at Arlington’s Sriram Villupuram, associate professor of finance, shares his insight. What exactly is the Texas Stock Exchange, and how does it differ from the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq?

Villupuram: The Texas Stock Exchange is a national securities exchange like the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq, and will compete with those exchanges. Both the NYSE and the Nasdaq have stringent listing requirements for prospective companies to list on their exchanges. In contrast, the Texas Stock Exchange is expected to facilitate the listing of relatively smaller companies.

There Is A Certain Amount Of Self Interest In This Decision

On Tuesday, The New York Post posted an article about the sudden change of heart by Bill Gates about climate change. You will have to excuse the amount of cynicism I have relating to this change. There are two major factors involved. One factor is the Trump effect on globalism–those moving toward one-world government are not currently getting the traction they were getting during the Biden administration. Argentina and America have shown that cutting government fat and promoting patriotism is a positive thing. The political left’s attempt to label patriotism as nationalism and paint nationalism as a bad thing is beginning to fail. The other factor is that Bill Gates is working to be a leader in the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI). Green energy and AI are not compatible–the amount of energy required by AI is enormous. We will need to develop new sources of energy and increase our use of old sources of energy to support AI. Those are the reasons I believe Bill Gates has changed his tune on global warming and green energy.

The New York Post reports:

Suddenly, Bill Gates is admitting that climate change won’t lead to “humanity’s demise” after all.

Now he tells us, after he long joined other climate alarmists in warning of “disaster,” as the West burned trillions on “decarbonizing” and steered economies toward the stone age.

The “doomsday view” that “cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization” is “wrong,” the Microsoft co-founder writes; people will “be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.”

It should also be noted that in the past when there were periods of global warming, there was more food to feed people and fewer people died from exposure to cold.

The article notes:

Gates still thinks it’s a “serious” problem, but admits “the doomsday outlook is causing much of the climate community to focus too much on near-term emissions goals” and “diverting resources from the most effective things we should be doing to improve life in a warming world.”

That’s precisely what moderates, like economist Bjorn Lomborg, and most conservatives have said for years.

The chief goal should be “improving lives” — not trying to end all carbon-fuel use, especially when China is still relentlessly building coal plants.

Like Lomborg, Gates now acknowledges that greater “prosperity” can let mankind cope just fine as the planet warms: “The faster people become prosperous and healthy, the more lives we can save.”

The article concludes:

If Gates wants any credit for belatedly seeing the light, he needs to put maximum effort into getting the left’s climate warriors to wake up, too.

Common Sense Is Winning

On Monday, The New York Post reported that President Trump congratulated Argentinian President Javier Milei for the gains he made in Argentina’s legislative elections. The opinion polls (surprise) had not predicted the win.

The article reports:

With partial results reported, Milei’s La Libertad Avanza had increased its seats in the Chamber of Deputies to at least 64 from 37 and gained at least six seats in the Argentine Senate.

“BIG WIN in Argentina for Javier Milei, a wonderful Trump Endorsed Candidate! He’s making us all look good,” Trump added on Truth Social. “Congratulations Javier!”

Recently, the Trump administration had done a $20 billion currency swap with Argentina in order to to stem a panic in which investors had been spooked by the poor performance of Milei’s party in the Sept. 7 Buenos Aires provincial election.

The article concludes:

Milei had spent his first two years in office with a minority in Argentina’s Congress. With his party’s victory on Sunday, he will have more breathing room to carry out his shock therapy agenda with less fear of legislators overriding his vetoes. 

Under the new government’s watch, monthly inflation plunged from 12.8% prior to Milei’s inauguration in December 2023 to 2.1% in September of this year. 

Milei himself is up for reelection in 2027.

If the courts and the Democrats would allow President Trump to do his job, we would see the same sort of success in America. We are already seeing a lot of success even with the efforts to ‘cancel’ President Trump.

Random Thoughts On President Trump’s Peace Deal

John F. Kennedy once stated, “Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.” The mainstream media’s reaction to President Trump’s peace deal and the reaction of some of the prominent Democrat politicians confirms that truth.

Senator Elizabeth posted the following on X:

For two excruciating years, I have called for the return of the hostages brutally kidnapped on October 7th and held in Gaza.

Today is a good day. Surviving Israeli hostages are finally home and reuniting with loved ones. I’m thinking of them and their families on this joyful day and praying for their full recovery. I’m also grieving for all those who can’t come home today.

Today must also be an important step toward lasting peace in the region — peace for both Israelis and Palestinians. We must end the war in Gaza, surge humanitarian aid, and negotiate a two-state solution now.

Did she really think that her words were going to get the hostages released?

Notice that he fails to give credit to President Trump. He is still the petty, self-centered person he was as President, only now he is searching for relevance.

On Sunday, The New York Post reported:

Hillary Clinton heaped some rare praise on her former arch-enemy Donald Trump for his handling of the Gaza peace deal in a recent interview.

“I really commend President Trump and his administration,” Clinton told CBS News 24/7 Friday.

“As well as Arab leaders in the region, for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after,” she added.

Searching for relevance?

It is interesting that President Trump is more popular in Israel than he is in America. The people who were yelling ‘stop the genocide’ have been surprising quiet (as the streets of Gaza erupt in chaos with Hamas killing anyone they believe collaborated with Israel and rival gangs vying for control). I wonder if Hamas has deliberately killed more civilians in Gaza than the Israeli Defense Forces have accidentally killed.

Destroying Equal Opportunity

On Thursday, The New York Post reported that Mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani has said that he will phase out the gifted and talented programs in the New York City schools.

The article reports:

Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor, said Thursday he would eliminate the accelerated learning program at the kindergarten level, something that’s likely to anger parents, who have been passionately divided on the issue.

The gifted classes would remain active through the school year, but would no longer be available next fall, he said.

Critics have attacked the coveted learning model as racist due to the higher number of white and Asian students that gain entry through the exam.

Maybe it’s time to examine the cultural factors behind the fact that white and Asian students do better on the exam. Let’s look at family structure, family discipline, parental involvement in a child’s education, etc. I remember one of my daughter’s classmates in Massachusetts who began preparing for the SAT’s in seventh or eighth grade. I think that’s a bit excessive, but the child did very well.

The article notes:

Danyela Souza, vice president of Community Education Council 2 in Manhattan, and a fellow at the Manhattan Institute think tank who tracks education, flunked the plan, saying it could spark an exodus from the city public school system.

“Mamdani is eliminating opportunities for low and middle income students to access an advanced education,” Souza, a public school parent, told The Post.

The article concludes:

“Parents are going to look to private schools or charter schools as an option or they’re going to move out of the city. You have one chance to educate your child.”

Mamdani’s two general election opponents — independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, also slammed his plan.

“Eliminating opportunities for excellence doesn’t help underserved kids, it perpetuates the problem. It creates a false equality, by eliminating any opportunity to excel,” Cuomo said.

“The Democratic ideal has always been about providing more opportunities for historically marginalized students to access these programs—not eliminating academic excellence altogether.”

Sliwas, during a press event Thursday, said, “I would not only maintain the gifted and talented as I saw up close and personal, I would expand it.”

He noted that Mamdani did “outstandingly well” at Bronx HS of Science, where students need strong scores on a single-test exam to get in.

“So he benefited from all that, but he wants to deprive young children who need advanced courses,” Sliwa said.

Great schools for me, but not for thee.

What Does Your Driver’s License Say?

On Tuesday, The New York Post posted an article about a truck driver stopped on an interstate highway in Oklahoma.

The article reports:

On Monday, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt tweeted a picture of a New York state commercial driver’s license his officers seized during an “enforcement action” on an interstate highway.

The name on this official state document, found on one of 125 illegal-immigrant drivers apprehended by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol: “No Name Given.” 

No city or state suffered more on 9/11, but this single incident shows how even the Empire State has forgotten the lessons of that horrible day — and how New York’s solicitousness for illegal immigrants is setting America up for a tragic replay.

All but one of the 19 illegal aliens who carried out those attacks in 2001 had some type of US-issued identification document. 

As Richard Barth, then assistant secretary for policy development at the Department of Homeland Security, told the Senate in March 2007, the terrorists found it easy to fraudulently obtain driver’s licenses and state-issued IDs.

Take Hani Hanjour, the Saudi national who hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 and flew it into the Pentagon that morning, killing 184 innocents. He had IDs from three different states.

Who in the world issued that license? This is an invitation to disaster.

The article concludes:

The 9/11 hijackers had to overpower flight crews and steer massive aircraft at high rates of speed to commit their attacks. 

Think of the carnage a malevolent trucker with the wrong cargo could wreak.

There’s a reason that semis on our highways are emblazoned with hazmat placards like “Flammable Gas,” “Explosives” and “Radioactive”: They warn other drivers to steer clear or risk calamity.

But what if calamity on a massive scale, impacting tens of thousands of our citizens, is the reason the driver is barreling down the highway? 

That’s not a “bad commute” — it’s a national disaster. 

A goal of the REAL ID Act was to ensure that only US citizens and legal immigrants could obtain compliant IDs. 

New York, having decided it can ignore our immigration laws, has now apparently set its sights on bypassing other federal mandates as well.

Until this issue is resolved, President Trump would be within his rights to bar travelers from using New York state “REAL IDs” when attempting to board aircraft or enter federally protected facilities.

There’s no reason for “No Name Given” to have a REAL ID commercial driver’s license — and New Yorkers, of all people, should understand why.

The government needs to investigate how this license was obtained.

Please Use Common Sense When Protesting

On September 29th, The New York Post posted an article about an anti-ICE protester in Massachusetts who was so wrapped up in what she was doing, she forgot a really basic item.

The article reports:

An anti-ICE protester in Massachusetts forgot to put her car in park while yelling at agents making an arrest of an illegal alien and her car rolled into a lake and sank, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement source tells Fox News.

It happened in Upton, Massachusetts, a small town in Worcester County, roughly 40 miles west of Boston.

Video and a photo, provided to Fox News by an ICE source, captured the incident.

In the clip, a voice can be heard saying, “Well that sucks. Look at that, Lucy. Her car got lost,” as the woman’s car drifts farther into the water.

Once Corrupt, Always Corrupt

Former President Obama has repeatedly bragged that there were no scandals during his presidency. He conveniently overlooks the IRS targeting of conservative groups, fast and furious, the New Black Panthers intimidating voters, etc. He created the most political justice department in history and played a major role in trying to undercut the administration that followed him. He really hasn’t changed–he is still working to “fundamentally transform America.” Oddly enough, some of us like a lot of the way America currently works and don’t want it transformed.

On Friday, The New York Post reported:

Millions of dollars sent to Barack Obama’s foundation has ended up being donated to a progressive fund that supported anti-Israel groups, accused of setting up encampments at Ivy League universities, according to public documents.

Donations to the Obama Foundation, set up by the former president to build a 19-acre campus including a museum, athletic facility and fruit and vegetable gardens in Chicago, totaling $2 million were instead sent on to Tides Foundation in 2022 and 2023, according to its latest available federal tax filings.

…The third-party grant-making group is under scrutiny by the House Ways and Means Committee for handling donations for anti-Israel groups such as the Adalah Justice Project, Samidoun and the People’s Forum. Such groups helped set up pro-Palestinian demonstrations and college encampments after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel that left 1,200 Israelis dead.

After this story was published Friday, a spokeswoman for the Obama Foundation told The Post that the $2 million was granted to more than 50 organizations across the country to help reduce “surging summer violence” and provide “safe spaces”  for young people.

The article also notes:

Meanwhile, the foundation admitted it has so far spent more than $615 million building the Obama Presidential Center, which is scheduled to open in spring 2026, according to its website.

The group, which received just $129,320 in donations in 2022, spent more than $27 million on salaries.

Among the highest-paid board members are Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser to President Obama and CEO of the foundation, who raked in more than $750,000 in compensation in 2023.

Robbin Cohen, executive vice president of the Obama Presidential Center, took in nearly $650,000 in 2023, according to the tax filings. Cohen is a former president of the Pritzker Realty Group, founded by Penny Pritzker, a philanthropist who is also on the Obama Foundation board of directors. Pritzker, whose brother, JB Pritzker, is the governor of Illinois, does not draw a salary.

The center, located in Jackson Park on the city’s South Side and taking up 20 acres, is still under construction, rising like a concrete monolith out of the ground. The privately funded project was started in 2021 but suffered many setbacks during its construction, including blowing through its original $500 million budget.

There Is More To The Story

The firing of Jimmy Kimmel was a shock to some of us. His comedy has often bordered on inappropriate. I have mixed emotions about the Federal Communications Commission being involved in any way, but I have no problem with a private company taking whatever action they deem appropriate in dealing with someone who is part of their brand. However, there seems to be more to the story.

On Thursday, The New York Post reported the following:

Jimmy Kimmel’s comments on the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk weren’t just noxiously offensive and seemingly misleading — their timing was also incredibly bad: They threaten to derail Nexstar’s $6.2 billion takeover of rival broadcaster Tegna, telecom insiders tell On The Money.

The already controversial deal — which would combine two of the nation’s largest owners of local TV stations — poses significant antitrust questions and needs a close review by the Federal Communications Commission and its conservative firebrand chairman, Brendan Carr.

Kimmel’s comments made that approval even dicier. That’s why Nexstar publicly announced Thursday that its stations would no longer carry the show, telecom insiders tell On The Money. Ditto for ABC, which produces and distributes “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to broadcasters like Nexstar — and likewise has business before the FCC.

Bob Iger, the CEO of its parent, Disney, was also quick to suspend the show indefinitely.

On Thursday, Sinclair Broadcasting — a rival local TV giant with a conservative bent — upped the ante even further, saying ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel was insufficient and announcing it will yank “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from its stations until the host apologizes directly to Kirk’s family and donates to his political activist group.

The backdrop to all this is Carr, a longtime telecom lawyer who is the new sheriff of the broadcast industry. Carr has been warning networks large and small that he’s taking one of the most expansionary views of the agency’s regulatory edict to make sure programming is in the “public interest,” First Amendment concerns be damned.

Ultimately, the public will be the ones to decide what is acceptable on television. Generally speaking, when viewership drops, shows are cancelled. It is interesting that Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks were made at a time when a business deal was being discussed. I do wonder if he believed what he was saying or if he was simply repeating something he had heard. Either way, it was inappropriate.

Sometimes It Takes A While To Get To The Right Answer

On Tuesday, The New York Post reported that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will not return to the case against President Trump for election interference.

The article reports:

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Tuesday lost her bid to get back on the Georgia election interference case against President Trump and his allies.

The embattled prosecutor was booted from the high-profile case by the Georgia Court of Appeals in December, which cited the “appearance of impropriety” over her affair with the special prosecutor Nathan Wade leading the case.

Georgia’s top court said Tuesday that it would not consider reversing a lower court’s ruling.

The article notes:

“Willis’ misconduct during the investigation and prosecution of President Trump was egregious and she deserved nothing less than disqualification. This proper decision should bring an end to the wrongful political, lawfare persecutions of the President.”

The Peach State’s highest court declined to review the case in a 4-3 vote; one judge didn’t participate and one judge was disqualified.

There are records showing that she paid her boyfriend much more than the other attorneys working on cases in her department and that he had no background in handling the case he was given. There are also questions about how much of the extra she paid him funded luxurious vacations. She should be taken off the case.

New York City Has About Seven Weeks To Wake Up

The mayoral election in New York City will be held on November 4th. If things continue as they are, Zohran Mamdani will be the next Mayor of New York City. I hope New York City residents look at where his campaign money is coming from before they vote.

On Saturday, The New York Post reported:

Deep-pocketed, out-of-state donors account for 78% of the nearly $2.4 million raised by a super PAC backing Zohran Mamdani’s NYC mayoral campaign.

Lefties outside the Empire State wrote fat checks totaling $1,831,706 to the group, New Yorkers for Lower Costs, as of Friday, records showed.

The sum included $762,631 from 26 California donors, with most of it coming from just two people.

In comparison, a superPAC supporting ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral bid called “Fix The City” has pulled in more than $20 million – or 74% — of its $27.1 million in donations from New Yorkers.

The “Empower NYC” superPAC supporting Mayor Adams’ re-election bid has seen $1,347,600 – or 92% — of its $1,462,600 donations come from the Big Apple.

Money doesn’t buy elections, but it plays a role. If money bought elections, Hillary Clinton would have been President. I am hoping that the difference in contributions from residents of New York predicts voting totals. However, the contribution numbers show that New Yorkers are split, which may give Mamdani a victory.

Trying To Prevent A Disaster

New York City will hold its election for Mayor on November 4th. The leading candidate is Zohran Mamdani. Much of the money that is paying for his campaign is coming from out of state. That is not surprising. Many people who live in the city fear his election for various reasons–the Jewish population fears his antisemitism, the wealthy fear his ideas about redistribution of wealth, the landlords fear his ideas about rent control, etc. All of these ideas, if instituted, would make life more difficult for many of the residents of New York City.

On Friday, The New York Post reported:

A Brooklyn synagogue isn’t letting congregants score High Holidays seats if they aren’t registered to vote — a drastic step amid Sephardic Jewish congregations’ fear over the potential election of Israel critic Zohran Mamdani as mayor.

A notice from Congregation Shaare Zion in Gravesend obtained by The Post warns that the election’s outcome could pose “serious problems” throughout the city and left the synagogue “no choice” but to require proof of voter registration for tickets to Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services.

Mamdani isn’t directly mentioned in the announcement, but a source with the Orthodox synagogue said the move was directed at the Democratic mayoral nominee.

“It’s an effort to defeat Mamdani and to make sure the Jewish community’s voice is heard on the most important day in the electoral calendar, Election Day,” a synagogue source said.

“They were alarmed that someone who has expressed antisemitic sentiment in the past such as the phrase ‘globalize the intifada’ and supporting the boycott against Israel.”

Mamdani, who would be New York City’s first Muslim mayor if elected, has repeatedly contended he’s not antisemitic. He has supported the boycott, divest and sanctions movement against Israel, pledged to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he sets foot in New York City and refused to denounce the “globalize the intifada” rallying cry.

Unless something changes drastically in the near future, Mamdani will be New York City’s next Mayor. I believe his election will result in the total financial collapse of the city as the people and businesses who pay the majority of the taxes will find other places to live.

Helping Drug Addicts Instead Of Enabling Them

On Thursday, The New York Post posted an article about OnPoint NYC the “safe injection” sites where hard-drug addicts shoot up under medical supervision. The sites were set up in 2021 and funded under President Joe Biden, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration quietly awarded the program a $2 million annual grant — and paid out just over half of it.

The article reports:

That grant, revealed here for the first time, has been terminated under President Donald Trump, SAMHSA Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Art Kleinschmidt told me.

OnPoint, he said, was “a misguided harm reduction program that [was] incompatible with federal law and applicable Executive Orders.”

Indeed, Trump’s July 25 order specifically barred funding for “safe consumption efforts that only facilitate illegal drug use and its attendant harm.”

True: Acquiescing in drug use only serves to encourage it — as well as other outrages documented by The Post, including sidewalk sex and drug dealing outside OnPoint’s sites in East Harlem and Washington Heights. 

But unless Trump’s Justice Department moves to shut down OnPoint — the only such program in the country — federal defunding won’t pull the plug on its dangers. 

The SAMHSA grant was just a small part of OnPoint’s $14 million annual budget, which includes millions in taxpayer dollars from New York state and New York City, along with private funding from the New York Community Trust, the Open Society Foundation, Deutsche Bank and others.

The article notes:

Yet OnPoint could do much more than just accept drug use as a valid lifestyle choice.

It could help us learn important information about the addicted, including statistics on how many have overdosed and died elsewhere, how many have been arrested for assault or robbery, and crucially, how many have sought treatment to beat their drug habit.

A reformed and constructive OnPoint would seek such data — perhaps through required electronic ankle bracelets — to not just reduce overdoses, but to reduce addiction itself.

The article reports that last September the Canadian province of British Columbia passed a law permitting involuntary commitment for both psychiatric problems and substance abuse — a policy New York state legislators have rejected.

Putting that policy in place in New York City would save lives and reduce crime.

The Economic Impact Of The Trump Presidency

On Tuesday, Stephen Moore posted an article at The New York Post comparing the Trump economy and the Biden economy.

In other words, the middle class mostly treaded water in the Biden years, but enjoyed an income surge through most of Trump’s term.

The Census Bureau also collects data on the income cut-off for households in the bottom 25% of the income spectrum — that is, the income level a household would have to reach to move out of the bottom 25%.

Not even Biden’s large cash welfare benefits could reverse the silent-killer effect of inflation’s 22% cumulative price hikes in gas, groceries and rents from 2021 to 2024.

Second, Trump’s 2017 tax policies — which were and still are ridiculed as “tax cuts for the rich” — actually benefited all income groups by increasing jobs and boosting the overall economy.

The share of the income-tax burden paid by the richest Americans actually rose after the president’s tax cuts kicked in. 

Now that Congress has extended those lower tax rates, we may see a similar across-the-board rise in everyone’s income over the next three years.

I am looking forward to the Trump economy.

The Only Solution For New York City

Back in the age of dinosaurs (the 1960’s), I spend two years in school in New York City. I rode the subways, took buses, wandered around Penn Station and Grand Central Station. I felt relatively safe. I ate affordable lunches at the Automat and the various restaurants in and around Grand Central Station. Under John Lindsay, the city was relatively safe. I would not feel safe enough to do any of that now.

On Tuesday, Michael Goodwin at The New York Post posted an article about the upcoming election for Mayor of New York City and one of its former Mayors.

The article reports:

Whew, better late than never!

That was my first reaction to the news that President Trump intends to give Rudy Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The announcement followed the serious weekend car crash in New Hampshire that sent the 81-year-old Giuliani to the hospital.

Thankfully, his injuries, said to include a broken vertebrae, are not life-threatening and he has been released from the hospital.

A likely result is Trump’s presentation will focus almost exclusively on Giuliani’s greatest achievement: His stellar tenure as New York’s mayor.

Although he later served as Trump’s pugnacious lawyer during the disputed aftermath of the 2020 election, it was during Giuliani’s two terms as Gotham’s fearless leader that he proved he is fully worthy of America’s highest civilian honor.

The article notes the current condition of New York City:

Giuliani was succeeded by Michael Bloomberg, a fellow Republican whom Rudy endorsed, and their combined five terms over two decades ushered in a new Golden Age in Gotham.

The city was never better, a fact that has made the subsequent years of decline a bitter pill for many and a lesson in the power of leadership, and why elections matter.

Unfortunately, the city is once again consumed with doubts as a mayoral campaign offers little hope.

Indeed, the current crisis is driven home by the fact that Bill de Blasio, who succeeded Bloomberg, took the city backward for the better part of eight years.

And now de Blasio, known as Mayor Putz in my book, is endorsing socialist Zohran Mamdani, and claiming Mamdani has “the right ideas.”

In fact, Mamdani, an anti-cop socialist and an antisemite, has all the wrong ideas for New York.

His election would take the city in the wrong direction, to a version of the bad old days that Giuliani and Bloomberg overcame.

The article includes some well-deserved praise for both Rudy Giuliani and President Trump:

Ah, but that’s not to say that the Rudy model has vanished.

In fact, a certain president was a close witness to Giuliani’s operatic performance and the changes he brought about in his hometown.

Although Trump was never accused of being a shrinking violet in the business world, I’ve long believed that he was largely inspired by Rudy’s take-no-prisoners approach to politics, and realized it was a viable path for him to follow as he, too, crashed the ­political establishment.

Trump, of course, personalized that approach to twice capture the White House, surpassing Rudy and his own dreams of sitting in the Oval Office.

Even now, the similarities between the two men remain striking.

In both of his terms, Trump has been, like Rudy, a perpetual motion machine who rarely sleeps and is always ready for the next fight.

He, too, has an endless stream of big ideas in the works, waiting their turn in the limelight.

Both are New Yorkers to the core, and were born to lead.

Fortunately for the rest of us, they chose public service.

I hope New York City voters realize the danger they are in if they elect Zohran Mamdani.

Our Justice System Isn’t Working

On Monday, The New York Post posted an article about a woman who was charged with a felony for threatening to kill President Trump. The woman, Nathalie Rose Jones, had been denied bail because of persistent threats to President Trump she posted on social media.

The article reports:

A New York City woman locked up for making deranged social media posts threatening to kill President Trump was quietly released by a Democrat-appointed judge last week.

Chief US District Judge James Boasberg, appointed by President Barack Obama, released Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old Big Apple resident, under electronic monitoring on Aug. 27 and ordered that she see a psychiatrist once back home, court documents revealed.

The article includes the following:

“Here’s where we are,” Jones wrote in a long Facebook post on Aug. 6.

“I literally told FBI in five states today that I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present,” she allegedly wrote, ending the paragraph, “Let’s deal with this and restore domestic tranquility.”

In other posts, Jones urged Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to “please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”

Officials were aware of concerning posts starting on Aug. 2 and Jones herself told Secret Service agents in an Aug. 15 interview that she would “carry out the mission of killing” Trump with a “bladed object” if she were given the chance.

Many of her social media posts tagged federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Friends of Jones told Boasberg, appointed by Obama in 2011, that she has a history of “schizophrenia” and mental illness but has never become violent, Law and Crime reported, citing court docs.

Ms. Jones needs to spend some time in a place that treats mental health patients. She is a danger not only to President Trump, but to society.

Keeping Children Safe

There may be an alternative to arming teachers to keep children safe, and one school seems to have found that alternative.

On Monday, The New York Post reported:

A Long Island school has rolled out what it says is one of America’s most advanced security systems – able to autolock doors and assess threats in split seconds.

“It’s going to save lives,” XSponse CEO Lee Mandel said of Plainedge High School’s new state-of-the-art protective system unveiled ahead of the new school year.

…Announced a day after the tragic shooting of Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, each classroom at the North Massapequa campus has been outfitted with doors that autolock during emergencies and high-tech video monitors that first responders can access in real time.

“No one has been able to put eyes into a classroom. We’re, in essence, putting a first responder in every single classroom,” added Mandel.

School officials — each of whom carries a special smart-ID badge to activate the system — can make both announcements and livestream video through the devices to classrooms sheltering in place.

Badges have a Life Alert-esque panic button that, when pressed, sends a hyperlocal GPS location to its exact whereabouts in the building through a detailed, color-coded map of campus shared with responding authorities.

“Having that makes it incredible to really speed up the reaction time and the response for first responders,” Mandel said.

The badges also correspond to an active second in-classroom device that can communicate to the outside. Panic buttons are also placed around the school for students to use in emergencies.

The article notes:

What XSponse is doing in Plainedge — a blueprint for other schools across the nation — has been supported by two parents who have lost their own children during the Parkland school shooting of 2018.

Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in the senseless attack, now works with the company to promote school safety.

“My daughter would want to know I’m making a difference in the world,” Pollack, originally of Oceanside, said.

“It’s amazing technology. I went to a board meeting in Plainedge, and it was a big turnout…they all wanted to see it.”

Ryan Petty, who lost his daughter Alaina in the shooting, emphasized how significant even a few split seconds taken off a response time can be.

“Parkland was over in under six minutes,” Petty, now a member of the Florida State Board of Education working with XSponse, said.

This is something all School Boards should investigate.

Common Sense Arrives

On Friday, The New York Post posted an article about the federal funding for offshore wind projects.

The article reports:

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Friday that $679 million in federal funding has been withdrawn for 12 “doomed” offshore wind projects – including three in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The scrapped funding includes $10.5 million for Connecticut’s Bridgeport Port Authority Operations and Maintenance Wind Port project, $20.5 million for New Jersey’s Wind Port at Paulsboro and $48 million for Staten Island’s Arthur Kill Terminal. 

The Trump administration plans to spend the withdrawn funds on “real infrastructure” and “restoring American maritime dominance.” 

“Wasteful, wind projects are using resources that could otherwise go towards revitalizing America’s maritime industry,” Duffy said in a statement.

“Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg bent over backwards to use transportation dollars for their Green New Scam agenda while ignoring the dire needs of our shipbuilding industry,” Duffy said. “Thanks to President Trump, we are prioritizing real infrastructure improvements over fantasy wind projects.”

At a White House Cabinet meeting earlier this week, President Trump fumed that wind projects were “ruining our country.”

“We’re not allowing any windmills to go up,” the president said. “They’re ruining our country. They’re ugly, they don’t work, they kill your birds. They’re bad for the environment.”

In July 2024, I posted an article about an environmental disaster caused by the failure of a windmill blade off Nantucket in Massachusetts (article here). The failure not only caused the island to have to close beaches because of contamination caused by the disintegration of the blade, but oysters and mussels in the area were contaminated by hazardous fiberglass particles that can cause harm to humans.

In 2020, I posted an article about two Massachusetts town that put up wind turbines in 2016 and voted to remove them in 2020 after approximately 360 complaints from residents in the area. Complaints include shadow flicker, nausea, vertigo, sleep disturbance, headaches, anxiety and sound disturbances. The towns were Bourne and Plymouth. The windmills were situated on Route 25.

We don’t fully understand the impact of low-frequency vibrations on people. Until we do, it might be a good idea to keep windmills away from populated areas.

There may come a day when we find a practical, economical and safe way to harness wind energy, but we are not there yet.

The Key To Peace In Ukraine

One of President Trump’s strong points is his ability to use economic leverage to solve international issues. He has begun to use that principle on Russia and Ukraine, but so far both countries have resisted his efforts–Russia because it wants a warm-water port and Ukraine because of the amount of money flowing into the country that is unaccounted for.

On Monday, The New York Post posted an opinion piece with some suggestions that might speed along the negotiations.

The opinion piece states:

President Donald Trump wants to stop the killing in Ukraine, but Russia’s foot-dragging is making it abundantly clear that he’ll need to apply far more pressure before any serious negotiations can begin.

To do so, Trump will have to squeeze Russia’s primary source of income, its oil revenues — without upending the global energy market in the process.

In an interview that aired Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov rejected US-backed security guarantees for Ukraine and balked at Trump’s push for direct talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Putin insists that Ukrainian forces withdraw from the Kyiv-controlled parts of the country’s eastern Donbas region — an idea Ukraine has rightly dismissed as a non-starter — and demands a host of other concessions aimed at making what’s left of Ukraine a vassal state.

So long as Putin conditions the war’s end on maximalist terms, fighting will continue.

…The simplest, most impactful move would be to threaten a new sanctions regime against any company or bank involved in the purchase of Russian oil.

If done right, Trump could bolster America’s negotiating leverage without spiking oil prices.

State-run oil refiners in both India and China have so far flouted Trump’s tariffs, but those firms would run scared from US financial sanctions, which would render those companies — and the banks processing their transactions — toxic to the global financial system.

As part of a new energy sanctions framework, the Treasury Department could allow Chinese and Indian firms to continue importing Russian crude only if they gradually reduce those purchases — and then deposit the money owed Russia in escrow accounts in Beijing and New Delhi.

This would sever Moscow’s access to much-needed revenue without suddenly cutting off global access to the barrels themselves, keeping the oil market stable.

Such a move would simultaneously facilitate the purchase of more American energy, as Trump continues his multi-dimensional trade talks with India, China and others.

Crippling the Russian economy would end the war. How to deal with the corruption in Ukraine would be a different challenge. At some point in the future, we may find out that much of the money going to Ukraine somehow winds up in American political campaign coffers. That might explain why so much of Congress is not really interested in peace.

Getting To The Root Of The Problem

The Democrat party has turned non-profits and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) into cash cows. That is one of the reasons Democrats were so upset about defunding the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Even if the Democrats (and some Republicans) were not skimming money directly, the boards of many of these organizations included their relatives who were paid exorbitant sums of many.

On Monday, The New York Post posted an editorial explaining how some of this works and what can be done to stop it.

The editorial states:

Starting to lift the lid off a far, far larger scam, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick just nixed $7 billion in “advance payments” that Biden administration staffers aimed to divert to a “nonprofit” controlled by other Democratic insiders.

The bigger scam being, of course, how the left (and lots of plain-old Dem machines) feeds off government-funded “charities.”

It’s a huge part of the “swamp,” though of course its denizens pretend their motives don’t reek.

In this case, the Bidenites were in too much of a hurry to make the theft fully legal: After President Donald Trump’s victory last November, high-level staff all across the executive branch rushed to corral cash that hadn’t yet gone out the door, lest the MAGA crew actually vet where it was going.

So some plugged-in Dems quickly created Natcast, a public-private not-for-profit — which the Bidenites immediately chose to direct tens of billions of dollars in subsidies to tech firms under the CHIPS Act.

Except that law never allowed for such a cut-out to handle the outlays — which made the diversion plainly illegal: Even if nobody ever goes to jail for it, Lutnick can at least claw back the funds.

That was just part of the looting frenzy; another scheme parked $20 billion at CitiBank with an eye on ensuring the “environmental justice” grants went to Democratic allies, such as one linked to Stacey Abrams, the failed Georgia gov candidate and election-denier.

EPA chief Lee Zeldin moved to rescind that insider dealing after getting wind of Bidenites at his agency “throwing gold bars” away before the Trumpies could take over.

It Is Being Reported That Elon Musk Has Changed His Mind

On Wednesday, The New York Post posted an article updating Elon Musk’s plans to create a third party. Although I often share his frustration with today’s two political parties, I am glad that he is moving away from that idea. It would be at least ten years before a new political party to become competitive, and I am hopeful that the current leadership in the Republican party is moving toward sanity making a new party unnecessary.

The article reports:

Elon Musk is reportedly putting the brakes on launching his new political party in order to maintain ties with prominent Republicans — especially Vice President JD Vance, whom the billionaire is eyeing to back in 2028.

Musk had vowed that his “America Party” would challenge the two-party system, but he told those close to him that he’d rather focus on his businesses than pull voters away from his Republican allies in Washington, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Tesla CEO is particularly keen on maintaining ties with Vance, who, it has been widely speculated, will inherit the MAGA movement after President Trump completes his second term.

The article concludes:

Trump and Musk appear to have squashed their beef — at least for now — as Musk has refrained of late from criticizing the president or other Republican politicians.

Vance could massively benefit from Musk’s money and influence if he’s tapped to succeed Trump.

When reached for comment by the Journal, Vance’s team pointed to an interview from earlier this month with conservative outlet the Gateway Pundit in which the vice president said it would be bad for conservatives to break with MAGA and hoped Musk would “come back into the fold” by the midterm elections.

Musk, without commenting further on the Journal’s report, posted on X, “Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true.

Aiding Terrorists

On Wednesday, The New York Post posted an article about a film that was removed from the Toronto Film Festival.

The article reports:

A new documentary about the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas has been booted from the Toronto International Film Festival — because organizers insist the filmmakers need the rights from the terrorist group to use their horrific footage of the massacre.

The festival claims the movie, called “The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue,” did not meet certain requirements to screen at the prestigious September event, widely attended by Hollywood stars and bigwigs, including not securing so-called “legal clearance” to use Hamas’ livestreamed video of the rape, murder and kidnapping of Jews.

The stunned filmmakers, including Canadian director Barry Avrich, slammed the decision, telling Deadline that TIFF has “defied its mission and censored its own programming by refusing this film.”

Avrich declined to comment further.

“The Road Between Us” tells the story of retired Israel Defense Forces General Noam Tibon, who set out to save his family and others during Hamas’ deadly attack, in which 1,200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage.

It includes widely seen videos taken by the terrorists of their murders of Israelis at the Nova music festival and in nearby communities.

While TIFF alleges they required permission from Hamas to use the footage, the documentary’s line producer, Talia Harris Ram, told the Times of Israel that their rationale was ridiculous.

The article includes pictures from the October 7th terrorist attack. Showing this film would remind people why Israel is attacking Gaza. Israel is trying to rescue any remaining hostages and also trying to insure that an October 7th attack never occurs again. As long as Hamas is allowed to exist in an area next to Israel, there will be a risk of another October 7th attack. The Hamas members who attacked Israel were the same people Israel routinely allowed into Israel on work permits because they could not find work in Gaza. When Israel left Gaza in 2005, Gaza quickly became a terrorist state. They dismantled the greenhouses that had provided income and jobs for the people of Gaza and used the water pipes to make rockets. What happened in Gaza after 2005 made it clear that a Palestinian state would have as its purpose the destruction of Israel. That is still part of the Hamas Charter.

Refusing to show a film that documents the truth is supporting a false narrative.
