This Is Total Insanity

On Thursday, The New York Post reported the following:

The two illegal Jordanian migrants who are charged with trying to breach Marine Corps Base Quantico in May posted thousands of dollars in bail and were allowed to leave federal custody, The Post can exclusively reveal.

Hasan Yousef Hamdan, 32, and Mohammad Khair Dabous, 28, were released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention despite their immigration status — Hamdan had crossed into the country illegally in April and Dabous had overstayed his student visa and is subject to removal proceedings, law enforcement sources told The Post.

They were arrested on May 3 for trespassing onto the military installation and handed over to ICE officers because of their immigration statuses.

The article notes:

Hamdan and Dabous were charged with misdemeanor trespassing on military property and appeared before a judge for the first time on July 22, when they were ordered released on the conditions that they show up to court for their immigration proceedings and stay away from Quantico or other military bases, according to the court documents, which were first reported by Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies.

Federal prosecutors supported their releases on those conditions, according to the court documents.

Hamdan entered the US illegally via the southern border in San Diego in April, when he was released due to a lack of detention space, federal law enforcement sources told The Post.

Dabous was in the US illegally after overstaying his student visa, sources said.

Where did the thousands of dollars come from? If they were allowed to leave federal custody, what is the realistic expectation that they will ever be seen in America again? Do we really believe that they will show up for their immigration proceedings in court (the hearings are scheduled for September)? Does anyone involved in this situation have any common sense?

The Obvious Contrast

If you haven’t read the article here titled “Common Sense in the Courtroom,” please read it after you read this article.

On Tuesday, ABC News posted an article about some pro-Palestinian protestors who were arrested for criminal trespassing when creating an encampment at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The article reports:

Dozens of pro-Palestinian protestors walked free Tuesday, after having their charges dropped following their arrests in May.

Now, some local leaders are concerned this sends the wrong message, with the Democratic National Convention just a month away.

It was all hugs after 80 people walked out of the courthouse, free of all charges.

“None of us showed up to be arrested. I didn’t show up to be arrested,” protester Jeffery Sun said. “We’re trying everything we can because of the ongoing genocide in Palestine.”

Sun is one of the 80 protesters whose charges were dropped after being arrested for criminal trespassing when creating an encampment at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The article notes:

“No question that crimes were committed during this illegal encampment, there was criminal trespassing. There was refusal to disperse and follow lawful orders. There was vandalism; there was assault. Several police officers were physically attacked,” 2nd Ward Ald. Brian Hopkins said.

Hopkins said he’s working with the Secret Service and Chicago police to prepare for the Democratic National Convention, where many protests are expected.

“They need to be prosecuted. If we’re not willing to do that, then we as a society are saying we’re willing to let protesters do whatever they want, without regard to the damage that they cause,” Hopkins said.

The fact that the majority of pro-Palestinian protesters have not been held accountable for their actions (which were often violent) is about to come back to bite the Democrats in Chicago. It will also be a problem for the Republicans in Milwaukee, but at least the Republicans can remind people that they do not control the Justice Department.

It is going to be a long summer.

This Is Simply Incredible

In July, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., asked for Secret Service Protection after his April announcement that he was running for President. As I reported on September (article here) that request was pending even after someone was arrested for carrying a gun at a place where RFK, Jr. was speaking.

On Saturday, The Epoch Times posted the following headline:

RFK Jr. Reiterates Plea to Biden Administration for Secret Service Protection

This will be his third request for Secret Service Protection. The request comes after a suspect is arrested twice in the same day for trespassing on his property.

The article reports:

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has refused twice to authorize Secret Service protection, Mr. Kennedy noted Oct. 25 on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“It’s not right for the President to provide protection to his family and political favorites while denying it to political rivals. During his first week as Attorney General, my father assembled all the DOJ’s senior prosecutors to tell them that he would not tolerate any politicization of law enforcement,” Mr. Kennedy posted on Oct. 27.

“I don’t spend time worrying about my personal safety. I do worry about the safety of my family and their sense of well-being and about the safety of bystanders if there is a more serious incident. I’m most troubled by the weaponization of federal law enforcement agencies to serve political agendas,” Mr. Kennedy wrote.

President Biden is a mean-spirited, petty little man holding on to power by a thread. He maintains that hold by weaponizing the government against anyone he sees as a challenge.

What Rights?

On Wednesday, BizPacReview posted an article about Cowboys for Trump co-founder Couy Griffin. A New Mexico judge has barred Couy Griffin from holding public office for life following his conviction for trespassing on Jan. 6 at the US Capitol. Note that he was convicted of trespassing.

The article reports:

State District Court Judge Francis Mathew issued the ruling on Tuesday asserting that Griffin had engaged in insurrection and violated the 14th Amendment, according to the Daily Mail. The determination prohibits Griffin from holding or seeking local or federal office and is the first ruling of its kind. The constitutionality of such a ruling will almost certainly be challenged.

“This decision marks the first time since 1869 that a court has disqualified a public official under Section 3, and the first time that any court has ruled the events of January 6, 2021, an insurrection,” Citizens for Ethics noted concerning the ruling.

The elected county commissioner was convicted in federal court of a misdemeanor for entering Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, without going inside the building. He engaged in no violence that day but just because he was there, he was sentenced to 14 days and given credit for time served.

The judge’s ruling under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment removes Griffin from his position as a commissioner in Otero County in southern New Mexico. He is also barred from serving as a presidential elector.

Griffin was convicted of a misdemeanor. Note that his participation in the protest on January 6th was also an excuse for removing him from his position as a commissioner in addition to preventing him from running for office again. There is no way that is reasonable. This is a shot across the bow for anyone who takes a stand against any policy or person in the Biden administration. Protesters who are conservatives will no longer have the civil rights accorded to them in the U.S. Constitution. The January 6th prisoners are proof of that. This is also part of the move to block President Trump from running for office or holding office if he is elected.

Hopefully This Will Help

The Epoch Times reported yesterday that some of the Texas counties that have been impacted by the lack of border security are going to start charging people illegally crossing the border with trespassing and child endangerment.

The article reports:

Seeing no solutions to the border crisis from the federal government, some counties are looking at all possible means to rein in the high-speed vehicle pursuits, trespassing, break-ins, vehicle thefts, and other crimes that are increasing in their communities.

“I’m going to start here, locally. If we catch them, we’re going to start prosecuting these people that are trespassing on y’all’s property,” Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe told an appreciative crowd in Brackettville, Texas, on May 22. “And whatever other legitimate charge we can stack on there to try to deter them from coming to Kinney County. We’re going to try to hold these people accountable.”

Neighboring Edwards County is doing the same.

Coe said his county would start charging for trespassing on June 1. He provided ranchers with a form that would authorize the sheriff to file charges on their behalf if someone is caught on their property—saving the rancher from coming into town to press charges every time a trespasser is caught. For many local ranchers, it’s a daily occurrence.

The article concludes:

On April 21, Kinney County declared a local disaster due to the impact of the border surge, saying in its declaration that the “health, life, and property” of its residents are “under imminent threat of disaster from the human trafficking occurring on our border with Mexico.”

More than two dozen counties have since also made disaster declarations or are in the process of it.

Smith said Texas should act on its own to enforce its border with Mexico.

“It is my opinion that an emergency declaration by Governor [Greg] Abbott or the Texas Legislature would authorize Texas to take certain steps in the enforcement of its own borders and the protection of its citizens’ health, safety, and welfare,” he wrote in an open letter in April.

If the federal government will not secure the border, the states involved need to find a way to do it. This is a national security issue that is being ignored by the federal government. Aside from the possible terrorists coming across the border, how many people with the coronavirus are crossing into America illegally?
