When You Don’t Complete Your Assignment At Work…

What would happen at your job if you left exactly at the end of the day and simply put all of your unfinished work in a drawer and left it there? Then, at the end of every month, if you simply emptied the drawer into the trash? I don’t think you would be a valued employee for long. Well, that’s about what President Biden is telling Immigration and Customs Enforcement prosecutors to do.’

On Tuesday, April 5, Hot Air reported:

There is a backlog of about 1.5 million cases pending in immigration courts. The Biden administration sent out a memo Monday instructing ICE prosecutors to dismiss older cases of illegal immigrants who are not considered public safety threats. What could possibly go wrong?

Last fall DHS Secretary Mayorkas distributed some new rules to ICE agents. The focus of the new rules is to deprioritize deportation of illegal immigrants who are not a threat to public safety. They carried out the crime of illegally entering the United States but since then have not posed a threat to the general population. The backlog of cases has grown unsustainable during Biden’s time in the White House, thanks to Biden’s border crisis, so in order to ease the backlog, ICE prosecutors have received permission to just dismiss older cases.

Congress hasn’t reformed any immigration laws. It’s their job to do so but in the meantime, Team Biden is running roughshod over the immigration laws on the books. The memo was distributed as the end of the use of Title 42 at the southern border approaches. The date set for Title 42 to end is May 23. More than 2.2 million illegal migrants have been apprehended at the southern border since Joe Biden took office and that number could triple with the end of Title 42. Title 42 has been an effective tool used during the pandemic, at CDC’s recommendation as a way to mitigate the coronavirus pandemic, but now that the pandemic is waning the Biden administration is ending the program that progressives have demanded he end since he took office.

BuzzFeed News got a copy of the ICE memo. It allows ICE attorneys to exercise “prosecutorial discretion authority” under the guise that such discretion will help “build public confidence in our immigration system.” That’s a take. What about the public confidence of Americans who expect the president to secure our borders and protect the sovereignty of the United States?

What ever happened to the concept of “legal immigration”?

The article concludes:

I am watching a news report of a bus full of illegal migrants arriving in Brownsville, Texas as I write this. They all look to be adult women. This scene is played out daily along the Texas border. Some reports estimate as many as 170,000 migrants waiting along the border to enter the United States. Most are waiting for the green light when Title 42 ends. The Biden administration doesn’t show much concern about the coming explosion in migrants who will be attempting to enter the United States. Dismissing cases and allowing those here illegally to remain in this country is how Team Biden plans to ease the backlog. All this will do is further encourage the waves of migrants to try to make it to the southern border. The Biden border crisis is deliberate and will only get worse.

There really is no excuse for the lack of security at our southern border. It is not a mistake–it is deliberate.

The Price For Telling The Truth

On Sunday, The Daily Wire posted an article about Kathleen Cataford, 77, a school nurse in Connecticut who was suspended after she revealed on Facebook that an 11-year-old student at her school was on puberty blockers and that other students identified as non-binary without their parents being informed.

The article reports:

Kathleen Cataford, 77, was suspended from Hartford Public Schools after she posted the comments on Facebook, the Daily Mail reported. Cataford’s comments were labeled “transphobic” after she posted to a local mother’s group when someone asked for local school recommendations, saying parents should “Investigate the school system curriculum…CT is a very socially liberal, gender confused state.”

“As a public school nurse, I have an 11yo female student on puberty blockers and a dozen identifying as non-binary, all but two keeping this as a secret from their parents with the help of teachers, SSW [social workers] and school administration,” Cataford continued, according to the Mail. “Teachers and SSW are spending 37.5 hours a week influencing our children, not necessarily teaching our children what YOU think is being taught.”

Although I question the use of Facebook to reveal this, it may have been her only option. I seriously doubt her local newspaper would have touched it. I do think it was a good idea to share it in a local mothers’ group where people would have the opportunity to act on this knowledge. I would be furious if my child’s school kept information about my child’s choice of gender from me. Gender dysphoria used to be considered a mental illness that was to be watched and treated if necessary. Many children go through a period of this and then grow out of it. They don’t need to be encouraged to stay there.

The article notes:

Hartford School District officials were made aware of the post after the mother of the 11-year-old reportedly on puberty blockers saw it and reported it, the Mail reported. The family of the student, who have not been identified in media reports, told WSFB that “As a family we are very happy with how thoroughly and quickly the school and the district has taken action to both ensure the nurse is fully investigated and ensure the safety and privacy of our child. They could not have done a better job.”

Hartford Public Schools superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez released a statement regarding Cataford’s remarks, without naming her.

The nurse did not reveal the identity of the child–all she did was to alert parents as to what was going on in their children’s school.

The article concludes:

“Hartford Public Schools strives to provide an inclusive environment where all students feel seen, valued, respected, and heard,” Torres-Rodriguez said in the statement. “We uphold all of our staff to a high standard, entrusting them to be caretakers and leaders in the community. We as a school district are responsible for the health, well-being, social and emotional development, and safety of ALL of the children entrusted to our care. It is our responsibility to support our students’ growth, personal experiences, and social-emotional development.”

“We take this matter, and any incident that impacts our students’ well-being, very seriously. Ensuring our schools are a safe place for students, staff and visitors is our highest priority. Therefore, we took immediate action to remove this individual from our schools while we investigate,” Torres-Rodriguez added. “While at times the most hateful rhetoric is the loudest it certainly doesn’t reflect the care, commitment, and acceptance that the vast majority of our teachers and staff practice every day.”

It is scary that a school would promote something that is a mental illness. They are not creating a safe environment. They are creating an environment where children too young to make life-altering decisions are deciding things that may leave them physically unable to mature fully physically or to have children.

Taxing Those That Keep The Economy Growing

On Sunday, NewsMax posted an article about President Biden’s tax proposal.

The article included some comments by former President Donald Trump’s White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow.

The article reports:

“Why would Joe Biden put out a budget that raises taxes 36 times?” Kudlow lamented to Sunday’s “The Cats Roundtable” WABC 770 AM-N.Y., adding a rebuke of Biden’s proposed “confiscation of wealth by taxing unrealized capital gains.”

“He is attacking the businesses that hire the workers, and he’s attacking the investors who come up with the new technologies and innovations that make America great, and he’s also attacking the fossil fuel companies that would get us out of this oil mess,” Kudlow continued to host John Catsimatidis. “I don’t understand the budget.”

“Why do you want to undermine the prosperity by jacking up taxes on everything that moves?”

And all this comes as Biden is burning the strategic oil reserve for “political price-fixing,” according to Kudlow.

“He is depleting a third of the strategic reserve for political price-fixing,” he said. “That’s all it is. It’s not going to work.”

It is merely a temporary solution to a system problem Biden energy policy has created – predictably – Kudlow said.

“It’s a drop in the bucket,” he said. “The strategic reserve is there in case you have a national emergency such as a hurricane blowing up Texas oil fields.”

Biden’s war on energy is bad policy for economics and the environment, Kudlow concluded.

“We could supply the whole bloody world with liquefied natural gas and stop the dirty coal in China and India,” he said, “if we had a sensible policy.”

Larry Kudlow is asking some very good questions and has some very good solutions to some of the problems we are currently facing.

Making A Difficult Job More Difficult

On Sunday, The Western Journal posted an article about a new requirement put on our Border Patrol (as if they didn’t already have enough to deal with).

The article reports:

While keeping track of illegal immigrants flooding across America’s Southern Border, Border Patrol agents also have to keep track of their pronouns.

A Department of Homeland Security release last week extolling the changes made as part of the Transgender Day of Visibility said that changes are coming to Customs and Border Protection staff as part of what was termed “[f]acilitating effective communication at U.S. ports of entry and beyond.”

“CBP has provided a job aid and memorandum to all staff that will serve as a guide for facilitating effective communication with the diverse public CBP serves, including LGBTQI+ individuals. The guidance includes using gender-neutral language and an individual’s self-identified pronouns and name,” the DHS release said.

I hate to be difficult, but if you have crossed into America illegally, I don’t care what your pronouns are–I simply want you to go home.

The article continues:

According to Fox News, about 2,000 illegal immigrants per day enter the U.S. because Border Patrol agents simply can’t get to them while dealing with others who have crossed illegally.

The flood is expected to get worse next month when the Biden administration officially lifts what’s known as Title 42, a health policy invoked during the pandemic that led to many illegal immigrants being turned back.

…“If there’s a strategy in place, we haven’t seen it. It hasn’t been disseminated to us, and there’s no way you can prepare in a month and a half for what is expected to be a mass illegal migration crisis,” he (National Border Patrol Council President Brandon) explained. “The only thing this administration is going to be able to do is just release people on a mass scale, that’s it. That’s all they can do.”

Agents “feel like we’re waving the white flag of surrender right now,” he said. “They feel like we are completely giving control of the border to the cartels.”

No sovereign nation can continue to exist without a secure border. So what is the end game of the Biden administration?

A Tribute To A Future President

Our Founding Fathers regarded the states as laboratories for successful governing. If a state did something that was successful, it was assumed that other states would follow. Unfortunately party politics has gotten in the way of that concept, but somehow one state occasionally manages to lead the way in successful governance. Right now, Florida is that state. The following video is only one example of the appreciation residents of Florida have for their Governor. The video is posted on YouTube.

You do not have to be a genius to see Governor Ron DeSantis as a future candidate for President. The only question is what dirty tricks the Democrats and the media will attempt to prevent that from happening. I personally would love to see a Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024.

A Long Overdue Idea

There have been rumblings about what goes on in Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida for years. I had a friend tell me once that when she took her children there, she took pictures of what they were wearing and specifically of their shoes because she feared kidnapping. That seems a little extreme, but she was genuinely concerned.

On Saturday, PJ Media posted an article about changes that may be coming to Disney in Florida.

The article reports:

On Friday, my PJ Media colleague Rick Moran wrote that DeSantis and other GOP legislators in the Sunshine State have mused about repealing the legislation that gave Disney its own governmental authority over the Walt Disney Word property over 50 years ago.

I predicted that this could be a nuclear option for DeSantis last month when I wrote, “If Disney did criticize Florida too harshly, the state could play hardball and threaten to revoke the legislation that created the company’s special quasi-governmental designation, the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which allows the company to operate with less interference from the state and county governments.”

Many of you have wondered what exactly that means, but first, let me give you a little background into Disney’s special governing authority, which is called the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

I’ve written tons about Disney history here at PJ Media and in my book Neon Crosses (which you really should buy). In Neon Crosses, I explained the concept behind the creation of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

“Before Walt died, the legal team discovered a somewhat obscure Florida law that allowed for the creation of special improvement districts with a different form of governance than a traditional municipality. Bob Foster convinced Walt that petitioning the state legislature to allow Disney to govern its own property under that law was the way to go. An improvement district would grant the company exemptions from local building codes and would allow Disney to create its own first response and telecommunications services.”

Creating the Reedy Creek Improvement District allowed Disney to develop state-of-the-art communications systems that no one else had ever tried, implement innovative environmental control measures, and build unique buildings all without local government interference.

With recent attacks by Disney executives on the Florida law that reaffirms parents’ rights and prevents exposing young children to sexual issues beyond their understanding, Disney has put its special status in jeopardy.

The article notes:

Another thing Disney could lose is immense tax breaks that could cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars, although DeSantis has hinted that he’s inclined to leave those alone.

“DeSantis said Friday those tax benefits likely aren’t at any risk of going away, however, claiming those tax breaks are ones “that any business would be eligible for” and there are “no special tax breaks that are Disney-specific that we would contemplate’ taking away,” Durkee writes.

Disney still sees opposing the Parental Rights in Education law as a matter of “right and wrong,” as former CEO Bob Iger called it.

…But, as National Review‘s Jim Geraghty points out, “This is a law, again, that forbids teaching sexual topics such as “gender identity” to children between the ages of four and nine. For all their blathering, not a single Disney executive has attempted to explain what precisely is so ‘harmful’ and ‘immoral” about that.”

DeSantis and Florida’s Republicans are certain about the right and wrong of protecting the state’s children from sexualization in schools against parents’ permission. They’re willing to do everything they can to combat Disney’s wokeness, and they have some powerful tools they can use if they need to. But will it come down to those nuclear options?

Some recent comments by Disney executives in charge of Disney entertainment might cause parents to rethink any support they might have had for Disney and its products.

Good News About Admissions To Massachusetts Institute of Technology

On Friday, The City Journal posted an article about some changes being made in the admissions policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The article reports:

This week, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced that it would once again require applicants to take standardized tests. “Our ability to accurately predict student academic success at MIT is significantly improved by considering standardized testing,” wrote the university’s dean of admissions, Stu Schmill. Parents and alumni largely hailed the decision.

Sanity, it seems, might be coming back. MIT needs the tests to remain MIT. Progressive critics of standardized testing say that a merit-based focus comes at the expense of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and they question the predictive value and objectivity of the tests. But the weight of the evidence shows that the tests indeed measure what they set out to measure.

The goal of any college should be to provide and education for its students and to work to help those students achieve academic success. If you are taking in students that are not able to learn at the level you are teaching, helping those students to achieve academic success is going to be an uphill battle.

Just for the record, this is the cost of tuition at MIT according to their website:

A term at MIT currently costs more than what my husband and I paid for our first house.

The article at The City Journal concludes:

Standardized tests are among the fairest assessment methods available. They not only predict academic talent across economic levels but also counter the mischief that holistic admissions allow. Schools can use holistic admissions to justify double standards on an individual level, or a wider range of biases against certain groups. As UC–Berkeley sociologist Jerome Karabel shows in his research on Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, holistic admissions were designed early in the twentieth century to limit the number of Jews at colleges. Later on, the targeted group became Asian students.

Standardized testing, with their emphasis on an objective measure, can be a tool of upward mobility. With holistic admissions, by contrast, wealthier families can shift their resources from test preparation—which even the poorest of families can pursue through public libraries—to purchasing edifying experiences, such as arts, athletics, summer programs, and unpaid internships. They can also purchase services, such as interview coaching and essay editing. These experiences and polished writing samples look good on applications, but they further punish those applicants who are qualified but lack such advantages. Grade inflation, too, benefits the wealthy: the Fordham Institute recently found that the phenomenon “worsened in schools attended by affluent students more than in those attended by lower-income pupils.”

Without standardized tests, American universities will confront obvious and difficult selection problems. MIT has decided on a better way.

Quietly Paying The Fine After You Have Broken The Law

When charged with a crime that has a penalty of a cash payment, the quickest way to get that charge and the crime off of the front pages of the media is to quietly pay the fine. If you’re a Republican, that might not work, but if you are Democrat, it will definitely kill the story.

On Saturday, The Epoch Times reported the following statement by Kash Patel, regarding the violations by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016:

“So the Hillary Clinton campaign is not contesting it, they’re paying the fine. It’s basically admitting that they did this and they’re out is: ‘we just don’t want a protracted legal deal, as if the Hillary Clinton campaign and DNC ever shied away from taking something or someone to court,” Patel added.

(Hillary) Clinton’s campaign and the DNC agreed to pay a combined $113,000 to the FEC, according to documents made public on March 30, after the commission found probable cause that the entities violated federal law by describing payments that ultimately went to the Fusion GPS research group as going toward legal services and consulting.

“It shows them how wrong they were to violate the law and spend political campaign dollars on hit job, opposition research pieces for then-candidate Trump, all of which, [to] remind the audience, was then used intentionally by the FBI—even though they knew it was false—to go to a federal secret court and surveil a presidential candidate and later a president of the United States.”

The article concludes:

In October 2020, Durham (Special counsel John Durham) was appointed by the Dept. of Justice as special counsel to investigate the FBI’s handling of Russiagate. His recent filings revealed that internet traffic at Trump Tower and the White House was accessed to fabricate ties between Trump and Russia.

The filing, which was submitted late on Feb. 11 in connection with the indictment of Michael Sussmann, a former attorney to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, reveals that Rodney Joffe, a tech executive who was working with Sussmann, had exploited access to domain name system (DNS) internet traffic pertaining to the Executive Office of the President of the United States (EOP) as well as Trump Tower and Donald Trump’s Central Park West apartment building.

“This FEC fine is another step towards accountability. But [for] me as a former federal prosecutor, maybe I’m biased, but the ultimate step of accountability which the American public is waiting for, comes in the form of indictments, especially to those people who violated their oath of office,” Patel said.

Indictments would be nice, but unfortunately it is becoming very obvious to most Americans that only Republicans get indicted when they break the law.

Continuing The War On American Energy Independence

On Thursday, The Daily Caller reported that the Biden has more attacks on the fossil fuel industry in the works.

The article reports:

President Biden is calling on Congress to make companies pay fees on wells from their leases that they haven’t used in years and on acres of public lands that they are hoarding without producing,” the White House said in a fact sheet on Thursday.

“Companies that are producing from their leased acres and existing wells will not face higher fees,” the statement continued. “But companies that continue to sit on non-producing acres will have to choose whether to start producing or pay a fee for each idled well and unused acre.”

As part of the announcement Thursday, Biden will also order the Department of Energy to release a million barrels of oil a day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for the next six months.

The White House has repeatedly blamed Big Oil for not doing enough to combat high gasoline prices in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has disrupted global energy supplies. Biden and Democratic lawmakers suggested this month that oil companies have taken advantage of the crisis to pad their profits.

I have no way of knowing if the President actually believes the garbage he is spouting. The problem with gasoline prices sits in the White House–not in the executive boards of oil companies.

The article concludes:

Western Energy Alliance President Kathleen Sgamma, meanwhile, noted the Interior Department is currently holding up permits on 3,800 leases while it conducts additional “climate change analysis,” about 4,600 permits are still awaiting approval and that the her group is defending thousands more in court.

“Western Energy Alliance has been in court for years defending 5,900 leases of 7.3 million acres and companies can’t develop on most of them when they’re caught up in legal challenges,” Sgamma told the DCNF in a statement. “But the president now wants to penalize us for these delays?”

“The White House conveniently forgets the government’s role in delaying pipelines and permits and introducing new financial and regulatory risks to American development,” she continued.

The Biden administration has actively pursued an anti-fossil fuel agenda, nixing the Keystone XL oil pipeline, ditching oil drilling in Alaska, not appealing a court ruling that prohibited a massive offshore drilling lease in the Gulf of Mexico, attempting to ban new drilling leases on federal lands and making it harder for utilities to gain approval for natural gas projects.

The actions of the Biden administration in the area of energy policy show a total lack of concern for the well being of the American people. A continuation of these policies will eventually wipe out the middle class in America. This may in fact be the goal of the Biden administration.

Why Are We Still Under Pandemic Rules?

On Wednesday, The Epoch Times posted an article titled, “The Chilling Reason They Won’t Declare the Pandemic Over?”

The article notes:

Over the past two years, in the name of keeping everyone “safe” from infection, the globalists have justified unprecedented attacks on democracy, civil liberties and personal freedoms, including the right to choose your own medical treatment. Now, the WHO wants to make its pandemic leadership permanent, and to extend it into the health care systems of every nation.

The negotiations for this treaty began March 3, 2022.(1) As reported by The Pulse …:

“Coming off the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization is proposing a new pandemic treaty they’re hoping will be accepted by enough member countries to become a reality by 2024.”

The pandemic treaty is a direct threat to a nation’s sovereignty to make decisions for itself and its citizens, and would erode democracy everywhere.

The problem with politicians is that they don’t like to give up power.

The article notes a few aspects of this treaty:

The treaty is a direct threat to a nation’s sovereignty to make decisions for itself and its citizens, and would erode democracy everywhere.

…Another concern is the fact that when people are harmed by the WHO’s health policies, there’s no accountability because the WHO has diplomatic immunity. According to Mohamed (Shabnam Palesa Mohamed, a member of the steering committee of the World Council for Health), “the WHO should not be making ANY decisions about world health in the future.”

…Its (WHO) power is already very significant, and the goal to turn the WHO into a global health dictatorship is virtually written into its constitution. Also, remember that the WHO removed the specificity of mass casualties from the definition of a pandemic, so now a pandemic can be just about any disease that occurs in multiple countries. Even obesity could theoretically qualify. So, the WHO could claim power over health care systems in any number of ways, given the chance.

…While most of the world is more than ready to move on, the WHO seems unwilling to let go. A WHO official recently told the Ottawa Citizen that the COVID pandemic is still “far from over.”(3)

The reason for this reluctance to declare the pandemic over is likely because the WHO hopes to gain the power to mandate vaccine passports and COVID jabs worldwide. It’s already working on the creation of a global vaccine passport/digital identity program.

…The treaty would also give the WHO the power to censor health information worldwide. On the European Council’s web page discussing the pandemic treaty, under the headline “Restoring Trust in the International Health System,”…

The article concludes:

As noted in a July 21, 2020, World Economic Forum article,(9) the economic devastation caused by COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns “has the potential to hobble global prosperity for generations to come.” The answer, according to the World Economic Forum, is for countries to make sure the economic system is “built back better.”

Make no mistake, this catchy slogan is part and parcel of the Great Reset plan and cannot be separated from it, no matter how altruistic it may sound. Part of the “building back better” is to shift the financial system over to an all-digital centrally controlled currency system that is tied to a vaccine passport and/or digital identity system.

Together, they will form a pervasive system of social control, as desired behaviors can be incentivized and undesired ones discouraged through loss of various “privileges,” including access to your own finances. Digital currency can even be programmed by the issuer so that it can only be used for certain types of purchases or expenses.

While it’s going to be very difficult to stop this runaway train that is The Great Reset, part of our defense is to oppose and prevent the WHO’s pandemic treaty from becoming reality, as we seem to lose our national sovereignty if it does.

If you are not yet a digital subscriber to the Epoch Times, now would be a good time to become one. It is worth it to read the entire article. It is chilling.

Celebrating Child Abuse

On Friday, President Biden gave a speech recognizing the “International Transgender Day of Visibility.” In that speech he claimed that would protect transgender people from numerous “dangerous attacks.” Just for the record, I looked up how many transgender people were murdered in 2021, as of November, the number was 45, the largest number ever (article here). Then I looked up how many people were murdered in Chicago in 2021, that number was 797 (article here). I don’t want to see anyone murdered, but it seems to me that we have a bigger problem than violence against transgenders–we have a problem with violence in general.

On Friday, CBN News posted an article about President Biden’s speech.

The article at CBN pointed out some obvious facts:

“Transgender Americans continue to face discrimination, harassment, and barriers to opportunity,” Biden said in a proclamation. “In the past year, hundreds of anti-transgender bills in States were proposed across America, most of them targeting transgender kids. The onslaught has continued this year. These bills are wrong.”

The president is referring to bills passed in multiple states that defend parental rights, protect the rights of female athletes, and protect children from irreversible “sex-change” surgeries and puberty-blockers.

Oklahoma and Arizona’s governors signed laws on Wednesday to prevent transgender athletes from dominating girls’ sports, joining more than a dozen other states with similar laws.

Preventing biological males from competing in women’s sports is not discrimination–it is common sense. It is giving women in sports a chance to compete on an even playing field.

The article at CBN News also notes:

The Christian Employers Alliance filed suit in federal court last fall, challenging two Biden administration mandates that force religious nonprofit and for-profit employers to pay for or perform gender transition surgeries, procedures, counseling, and treatments in violation of their religious beliefs

“Many religious employers – including the Christian Employers Alliance and all of its members – hold sincere beliefs that gender transition surgeries and procedures are morally wrong and contradict their beliefs that God purposefully created humans as either a biological male or female and that a person’s biological sex is immutable,” said Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Matt Bowman.

The speech also voiced support for transgender children. It is unclear whether the White House will take measures to allow transgender surgery on children without their parents’ consent. I suspect that will be proposed at some point in the not-so-distant future.

This speech was a shiny object to distract us from the multiple failures of the Biden administration. As inflation eats away at our income, as we deplete our strategic energy reserves, as we get involved in an overseas military adventure we cannot afford, and as we watch our economy flounder, the celebration of the transgender movement will energize the left wing of the Democrat party and disgust most Americans who believe in basic science.

Will There Ever Be Accountability?

On Thursday, The Western Journal posted an article about Hunter Biden’s laptop. I realize that many of us are tired of hearing about Hunter Biden’s laptop, but what about the national security issues involved and the obvious issue of child pornography that is allegedly on the laptop?

The article notes:

Following an exhaustive investigation led by Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, a report titled “Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Corruption: The Impact on U.S. Government Policy and Related Concerns” was released in September 2020. A second report with additional findings followed two months later.

Because in today’s new world, information is only accepted to be true if Democrats, the legacy media and Big Tech say it is, the report was declared to be Russian disinformation and was immediately discredited.

One of the most glaring dismissals of the report came from the liberal Lawfare blog, whose assessment read: “Seven months into a crippling pandemic and with wildfires ablaze across the West Coast, the majority of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Commitee (HSGAC) has its attention focused squarely on the most pressing issues: five-year-old financial transactions by Joe Biden’s son and stray WhatsApp messages from Democratic lobbyists.”

Ridiculous?

Unlike the Biden administration’s focus on a bill to make lynching a federal hate crime in the midst of domestic and foreign turmoil when the last lynching in the U.S. occurred over 40 years ago, fair coverage of the Grassley-Johnson report and the New York Post’s censored reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop would have provided voters with relevant information that might have prevented President Joe Biden’s “victory” and the damage it has visited upon the country. But I digress.

The article notes:

Grassley displayed a portion of an August 2017 receipt for a $100,000 payment from CEFC to Wells Fargo Clearing Services. He emphasized the notation near the bottom of the page that read “further credit to OWASCO PC” and informed his fellow senators that Owasco was one of Hunter Biden’s companies.

This particular transaction was being made public for the first time. (Grassley said he and Johnson would release the full document.)

“There’s no middle man in this transaction,” the senator said. “This is $100,000 from what is effectively an arm of the communist Chinese government direct to Hunter Biden.”

Please follow the link to the article for further details. Evidently a large part of the American government is bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party.

Interesting Ideas

I received this is my email today from a friend. I am really not sure about the salaries for life aspect of this, but even without that, there are some definite problems here. Our Founding Fathers never wanted politics to be a career–much less a lucrative one.

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

“I could end the deficit in five minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”

The 26th Amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only three months and eight days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 – before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land – all because of public pressure.

Congressional Reform Act of 2022

  1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman / woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they’re out of office.
  2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

  1. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
  2. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
  3. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
