Taking Action In The Strait of Hormuz

On Saturday, The Epoch Times posted an article about clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The article reports:

Two U.S. missile destroyers started clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz on April 11 as peace talks kicked off between Washington and the Iranian regime, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed.
“Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon to encourage the free flow of commerce,” CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said in a statement on Saturday.

The American ships included the USS Frank E. Peterson (DDG 121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112).

…Saturday’s confirmation about the mine clearing came hours after a United States government vessel was spotted entering the Strait of Hormuz, according to the ship-tracking intelligence platform Marinetraffic.com.

It’s not clear if this was related to CENTCOM’s mine-clearing mission.

As part of a series of posts on Saturday morning, Trump said countries are sending ships to the United States to “load up” with oil as the Iran War has heavily slowed down oil and gas operations in the Persian Gulf.

“We have more oil than the next two largest oil economies combined—and higher quality. We are waiting for you,” Trump wrote in a separate post on Saturday.
The updates from Trump came hours after Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and adviser and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, to attend in-person negotiations with Iranian leadership amid a fragile two-week ceasefire.

The article concludes:

The talks, moderated by Pakistani leadership, were set to begin at around 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, a senior White House official confirmed to The Epoch Times.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X in Persian that the country’s delegation will guard its interests “with all its might” and “engage in negotiations with courage.”

Iranian state media, Press TV, reported that Iranian negotiating teams will only extend their stay in Islamabad if they think progress can be made.

I have stated before–I am not optimistic. Any peace agreement that takes away Iran’s nuclear program or forces Iran to stop funding terrorism is not going to be agreed on. As long as whatever ruling forces in Iran that are left can hold on to power and fund terrorism, they will.

A Step In The Right Direction

On Wednesday, The Daily Caller posted an article about the new anti-fraud task force headed by Vice-President J.D. Vance.

The article reports:

Vice President JD Vance’s new anti-fraud task force has identified nearly $6.3 billion in government contracts that are going to potentially fraudulent businesses, the Daily Caller learned early Wednesday.

The task force, alongside the General Services Administration (GSA), are beginning to send out letters to nearly 400 businesses with government contracts that they believe could be fraudulent, administration officials told the Caller. There were 895 contracts given to 392 businesses for a total of $6.3 billion, the officials explained, with $3 billion still left to be rewarded.

The businesses will have 30 days to prove to the task force that they have a physical address and are legitimate. The letters will come from the executive director of the anti-fraud task force Scott Brady and GSA Administrator Edward Forst, who one senior administration official said has been instrumental in helping identify the potential fraudulent contracts.

The article notes:

Vance and his new team convened for the first time March 27. Colin McDonald, the assistant attorney general for National Fraud Enforcement, was sworn in April 1.

…The vice president previously said the task force will also be investigating Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar for alleged immigration fraud.

“So we actually think that Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” the vice president told conservative personality Benny Johnson in an interview. “And I talked to [White House deputy chief of staff] Stephen Miller about this actually recently. We’re trying to look at what the remedies are.”

“That’s the thing that we’re trying to figure out is what are the legal remedies now that we know that she’s committed immigration fraud? How do you go after her? How do you investigate her? How do you actually do the thing? How do you build the case necessary to get some justice for the American people?” he added. “There’s a related issue, Benny, which is she has been at the center of a lot of the worst fraudsters in the Somali community.”

I wonder if we could balance the federal budget by eliminating fraud.

Reporting Only Half Of The Story

On Tuesday, The Western Journal posted an article about the mainstream media’s reports on the impact of President Trump’s tariffs on America’s economy. The focus of the mainstream media is on how much the tariffs are costing the average American. If you are an average American, you might have noticed a little more money in your pocket at the end of the month–not less. The cost of the tariffs had been more than made up for by the lowering of the gasoline prices. If we could just finish getting other energy prices down, we would have it made.

The article reports:

Media outlets were quick to glom onto a study that found President Donald Trump’s tariffs resulted in a $1,000 increase in costs to the average American household.

However, they did not couple it with the savings Americans are experiencing overall, thanks to Trump’s economic policies, which more than offset the price of tariffs.

The Tax Foundation, which leans conservative, does not like tariffs, as its latest study confirms. They came out strongly against Trump’s tariffs beginning in February 2025, shortly after he took office.

ABC News reported, “The research called Trump’s tariffs ‘the largest U.S. tax increase as a percent of GDP since 1993.’ It suggests the president’s signature economic policy is exacerbating cost of living concerns at a time when many households are grappling with persistently high prices.

“According to the research think tank Tax Foundation, the federal government collected $264 billion in total tariff revenues in 2025 — far short of the trillions regularly touted by the White House. The research also finds the tariffs will offset most of the economic benefits of the new tax cuts from Trump’s signature tax law that took effect this year,” the news outlet added.

The article concludes:

During a recent appearance on Megyn Kelly’s podcast, Vice President J.D. Vance said, “If you look at the numbers on affordability, they are starting to move in our direction.”

“There’s clear movement from where there was, say, four or five months ago,” he added.

Vance went on to note that due to inflation spiking to over 9 percent during the Biden administration, the average household lost about $3,000 in buying power.

Meanwhile, “The average American household … has gained about $1,200 during the Trump administration,” he said, arguing that this is why people are still feeling the pinch, because they are still $1,800 per year poorer than when Biden took office in 2021.

“We recognize there’s still a lot of work to do,” the vice president argued, but things are going in the right direction.

If you take tariffs in the context of everything else Trump and his team are doing economically, Americans are definitely better off than they were under Biden.

It would be nice if the mainstream media would report the WHOLE story.

Dealing With Circular Logic

On Friday, PJ Media posted an article about Senator Schumer’s remarks about requiring voter identification. The Senator has been consistently comparing voter id laws to Jim Crow laws. He seems to be in a panic that voter id will pass the Senate. Well, Vice-President J.D. Vance had the perfect answer to the Senator’s comments.

The article reports:

JD Vance just dismantled the Democrats’ absurd war on basic voter security, and he did it with such a simple argument that I have to call attention to it.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer caught heat after blasting the SAVE Act as “Jim Crow 2.0” earlier this week.

“I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, the SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow-type laws on the entire country and is dead on arrival in the Senate,” Schumer said Monday. “The SAVE Act is reminiscent of Jim Crow era laws and would expand them to the whole of America.”

He then doubled down on this rhetoric during an appearance on MSNOW’s Morning Joe. He doubled down, insisting the bill poisons any spending deal in Congress.

He lit up Megyn Kelly’s show with a takedown that hit like a freight train. “We want the sovereignty to be with the people who cast the ballots, and that’s why we have to get the SAVE Act passed,” Vance said. He mocked the left’s favorite dodge. “You’ll hear people say all the time… ‘Well, if you look at this precinct, you know, only three illegal aliens voted in this election.’ Number one, that’s three illegal aliens too many, and number two, if it’s not a big problem, then why not just allow us to check ID and exercise some basic precautions to prevent illegal aliens from voting?”

The article notes the problem with Senator Schumer’s logic:

Vance nailed the contradiction. Democrats scream fraud never happens. Then they fight tooth and nail to stop fixes. “I never quite understand the person who says, ‘On the one hand, this never happens, and on the other hand, your effort to prevent it from happening is a threat to American democracy,’ which is fundamentally the Democrats’ argument.”

…Schumer’s meltdown proves Vance’s point. Democrats fear clean elections. Americans want ID checks. Vance exposed the game. Democrats have relied on lax rules for too long. Republicans must hold the line and pass the SAVE Act.

It’s time for Congress to listen to the American people who overwhelmingly support voter id laws.
