While We Were All Wondering About President Trump’s Campaign Spending Violations…

On Thursday, Newsbusters reported:

ABC, CBS and NBC took a stand on a potential scandal involving tens of millions in reportedly stolen money and former President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign: We won’t report on this.

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio testified on April 3 that Jho Low —a Malaysian financier tied to the Communist Chinese Party— plotted a scheme to funnel between $20-$30 million to Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, according to the New York Post April 3. Low, a close friend of DiCaprio and now fugitive, allegedly recruited 90s rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel to “funnel the money to Obama’s reelection bid as foreigners cannot donate to US campaigns under federal election law.”

According to the Post, “Much of the money was reportedly stolen. Low is accused of embezzling a whopping $4.5 billion from Malaysia’s” state investment fund. “‘It was a significant sum — something to the tune of $20-30 million,’ DiCaprio testified. ‘I said, “Wow that’s a lot of money!”’”

ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News however, treated the story like it didn’t exist during their April 3, April 4 and April 5 evening broadcasts, perhaps because it would involve making their darling former president look bad.

The article concludes:

Additional witnesses reportedly testified after DiCaprio’s testimony “that Michel had wired them thousands and asked them to make shadow donations to the [Obama] campaign.” Apparently, none of this damning information was worth any coverage by the Big Three.

We will not be able to elect people who will do their jobs until the mainstream media supplies the information Americans need to vote intelligently.

If They Really Believed What They Are Saying, Would Their Behavior Change?

The Gateway Pundit reported the following today:

A slew of A-list celebrities have flocked to Sicily, Italy on private jets and massive yachts to discuss the woes of global warming caused, they say, by things like private jets and massive yachts.

The founders of Google invited a a throng of the rich and famous,  including former President Barack Obama, Prince Harry, actor Leonardo DiCaprio and singer Katy Perry for a huge party they’ve dubbed Google Camp.

“The three-day event will focus on fighting climate change — though it’s unknown how much time the attendees will spend discussing their own effect on the environment, such as the scores of private jets they arrived in and the mega yachts many have been staying on,” reports the New York Post.

“Everything is about global warming, that is the major topic this year,” a source told The Post.

The cost of the extravaganza — $20 million.

According to the Italian press, at least 114 private jets will land at the Palermo airport.

So let me get this straight. The Green New Deal wants to cripple the American economy in the name of saving the earth–no more fossil fuel, no more cows, etc., yet the richest of the rich attend a meeting on fighting climate change in machines with some of the biggest carbon footprints on earth.

I guess if we are all going to die in twelve years because of global warming, they are going to go out in style.

If You Truly Believed This, Would It Change Your Behavior?

Yesterday Investor’s Business Daily posted an article about the behavior of people who sincerely believe in climate change (or at least claim to).

The article reports:

We keep hearing how global warming is the biggest crisis facing mankind today. But a new yearlong study finds that those ringing the alarm bells the loudest are the least likely to change their own behavior. They just want everyone else to.

The study divided 600 adults who reported on their climate-change beliefs into three groups: “skeptical,” “cautiously worried” and “highly concerned.”

Then the researchers — from the University of Michigan and Cornell University — tracked how often they reported doing things like recycling, using public transportation, buying environmentally friendly consumer products, and reusing shopping bags. And they asked about support for government mandates like CO2 emission reduction, gasoline taxes and renewable energy subsidies. The Journal of Environmental Psychology published the findings.

The findings are not a surprise to many of us.

The article reports the results:

The researchers found that the “highly concerned” group was the least likely to take individual action, but they were the most insistent on government action. The “skeptical” group, in contrast, was the most likely to recycle, use public transportation and do other environmentally sound things all on their own. Skeptics were least likely to endorse costly government regulations and mandates.

“Belief in climate change,” the researchers explained, “predicted support for government policies, but did not generally translate to individual-level, self-reported pro-environmental behavior. ” (emphasis mine)

Two notable examples of spouting climate change rhetoric but creating an unbelievable carbon footprint are Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio. Both live in luxurious homes which use much more electricity than the average American, and both travel on private jets. I have no problem with this–they have earned what they have. However, if you are going to support government regulations that negatively impact people earning a fraction of what you make, you really should practice what you preach.

The Impact Of Political Correctness On Art

Breitbart posted an article today listing 17 classic Hollywood movies that could not be made today because of political correctness. The latest wave of political correctness says that only a person with the disability can portray a disabled person in a film or that the person playing a character in a film has to have the actual characteristics of that person. I thought it was called acting for a reason. That creates some interesting challenges that probably could not be overcome in making these classic movies.

The list:

1. Dustin Hoffman – Rain Man

2. Daniel Day-Lewis  – My Left Foot

3. Tom HanksForrest Gump

4. Matthew McConaugheyDallas Buyers Club

5. Sean Penn – I Am Sam

6. Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything/The Danish Girl

7. Leonardo DiCaprioWhat’s Eating Gilbert Grape?

8. Colin Firth – The King’s Speech

9. Jamie Foxx – Ray

10. Al Pacino – Scent of a Woman

11. Patty Duke – The Miracle Worker

12. Holly Hunter – The Piano

13. Julianne MooreStill Alice

14. Hillary Swank –  Million Dollar Baby

15. Eric Stoltz – Mask

16. John Hurt – The Elephant Man

17. Nicolas Cage  – Leaving Las Vegas

Did You Really Believe It Was About Global Warming?

Dr. Roy Spencer (a real NASA scientist) posted an article on his website today about next Tuesday’s UN climate conference in NYC (called Climate Summit 2014). Dr. Spencer lists ten ways to tell that the Climate Summit is not actually about climate. Please follow the link above the read the entire article–he makes great comments.

This is his list:

1. There is no way with current technology to get beyond 15%-20% renewable energy in the next 20 years or so….and even that will be exceedingly expensive.

2. The UN doesn’t care that global warming stopped 17 years ago.

3. The UN’s own climate models have grossly over-forecast warming.

4. Scientists and politicians have had to resort to blaming severe weather events on climate change.

5. The UN Climate Summit participants’ “carbon footprints” far exceed those of normal people…and they don’t care.

6. Leonardo DiCaprio, UN’s Messenger of Peace. Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize and crony capitalist.

7. The leaders of Australia, China, India, Canada, and Germany are opting out of Tuesday’s meeting.

8. A UN official admitted the climate goal was wealth redistribution. Naomi Klein has admitted what Obama, Kerry, and Clinton won’t admit: it’s about stopping Capitalism.

9. What they can’t admit is that global greening and increasing global crop productivity is the result of us putting some of that CO2 back where it was in the first place – in the atmosphere.

10. The UN’s climate reports exaggerate and misrepresent the science. For example, the warming of the deep oceans over the last 50 years is described in terms of gazillions of joules (which sounds impressive) rather than what was actually measured…hundredths of a degree (not so impressive).

On a radio show yesterday, I heard extreme environmentalists described as ‘watermelons’–green on the outside and red on the inside. Unfortunately, that makes sense.

The article concludes:

As I’ve said before, I really don’t care where our energy comes from, as long as it is abundant and inexpensive. But telling the poor they can only have concierge energy – if they can pony up enough money — will end up killing people. Lots of people.

And that’s what the U.N. should be concerned about…not having meetings in Bali and Cancun.

It’s time for America to stop funding the U.N. and kick all of its delegates and unpaid parking tickets out of New York City. I am sure we could find a better use for their rather large headquarters.

Sometimes You Just Wonder…

On Saturday the New Zealand Herald reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is taking a break from acting for a while.

The article reports:

In an interview with Germany’s mass circulation daily Bild, the 38-year-old American actor said: “I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out.”

“I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment,” added DiCaprio, in comments published in German.

The article goes on to explain that the actor’s house has solar panels and that he drives an electric car. That’s nice. Has it occurred to him that flying around the world to help the environment is somewhat counter-productive? Is he flying commercial or in a private plane? Has he considered the carbon footprint of his trip around the world to help the environment?Enhanced by Zemanta

The Criminal Point Of View

About a month ago, the Journal-News, a daily paper serving the New York suburbs of Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, published a map of names and addresses of gun owners.

Fox News reported today on some of the fallout from the decision to publish that information.

The article reports:

“That was the most asinine article I’ve ever seen,” said Walter T. Shaw, 65, a former burglar and jewel thief who the FBI blames for more than 3,000 break-ins that netted some $70 million in the 1960s and 1970s. “Having a list of who has a gun is like gold – why rob that house when you can hit the one next door, where there are no guns?

“What they did was insanity,” added Shaw, author of “License to Steal,” a book about his criminal career.

Another criminal, Frank Abagnale, who was portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2002 film “Catch Me if You Can,” also weighed in.

The article reports:

“It is unbelievable that a newspaper or so called journalist would publish the names and addresses of legal gun owners, including federal agents, law enforcement officers and the like,” said Abagnale, who noted that he grew up in the suburban New York area served by the Journal-News. “This would be equivalent to publishing the names of individuals who keep substantial sums of money, jewelry and valuables in their home.”

There is a former policemen in my extended family. I suspect he was responsible for putting one or two people in jail. It is quite possible that some of those people have long memories and hold grudges. He owns a number of guns. Publishing his name and address in a newspaper would put him and his family in danger. What were the editors of this paper thinking?
