UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Resigns

On Monday, The New York Post reported that the United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer has resigned.

The article reports:

Sir Keir Starmer choked up as he announced his resignation as UK prime minister Monday — less than two years after the Labour Party stormed to a landslide general election win.

Starmer, 63, set out a timetable to stand down after coming under mounting pressure following last month’s local elections, in which the governing Labour Party lost over 1,000 seats.

The prime minister announced his intention to step down after admitting the Labour Party was questioning whether he could lead it into the next general election, which must be held before July 2029, just 23 months after leading his party to a huge win.

“I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question, and I accept that answer with good grace,” Starmer said outside 10 Downing Street in London.

“Every decision I’ve taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party. I have spoken to his majesty the king this morning to inform him of my decision.”

The article notes:

Calls for Starmer’s resignation intensified over the past month after Labour was routed by Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party across post-industrial England.

“Starmer isn’t the first Prime Minister I’ve deposed, and he won’t be the last. David Cameron. Theresa May. Rishi Sunak. And next up – Andy Burnham. The reason each leader has failed is the same,” Farage wrote in a Substack post Monday.

“What the political class fails to understand is that the electorate won’t accept being taken for fools. They cannot continue to take the votes of the people who supported them for granted, only to betray them upon having gained power. Politics is about trust.

“That is why I am calling for a general election at the soonest possible date. You know as well as I do that the country cannot afford to waste another week drifting from crisis to crisis.

“That’s why millions of you turned out in the local elections to vote for Reform councillors, and it’s why we have led in more than 300 opinion polls for well over a year.”

The article concludes:\

Just last week, Starmer lost Defense Secretary John Healey over the government’s defense investment plan.

“You have been unable, and the Treasury has been unwilling, to commit the resources that the nation needs to defend the country at this time of rising threats,” Healey told Starmer in his resignation letter.

Starmer’s popularity has plunged after repeated missteps and U-turns on policies such as welfare reform, as well as his disastrous decision to appoint Peter Mandelson, a scandal-tarnished friend of Jeffrey Epstein, as Britain’s ambassador to Washington.

The Labour government has also failed to deliver promised economic growth and ease a longstanding cost-of-living crisis.

Britain has a number of problems right now–economic, immigration, etc. At some point the British are going to want their country back after unlimited immigration has created some major problems.

The Atrocities Hidden By The Cover-Up

This article is rated PG-13.

On Thursday, Hot Air posted an article about what the investigations into the ‘grooming gangs’ scandal in Britain.

The article reports:

Rupert Lowe, who ran the independent grooming gang (rape gang) inquiry because the Labour Party refused to do so, has released his report to the public.

It is so, so, SO much worse than anybody imagined. Which, you would have thought, was impossible. After all, given what we knew, how could it be?

Well, it turns out that no matter how much you hate the British ruling elite, it is not nearly enough.

Now, while some people—mostly Muslim advocacy groups—are claiming that the inquiry was biased and that all the testifiers were lying slags, few people actually believe that. Even the government, which up until now has resisted any disclosure and tried to tamp down the crisis, has ordered local police forces to investigate offenses dating back over a decade.

The cover-up is, if not completely exposed, no longer tenable. What we know is far too explosive.

According to an X post included in the article:

The inquiry estimates AT LEAST 250,000 girls. A QUARTER MILLION. They are overwhelmingly white girls and they were raped, trafficked & tortured over decades. The 250k number is the MINIMUM, the FLOOR… there are likely even more than this.

The article notes:

The sheer scale and time frame in which this took place is staggering. The earliest cases date back to the 1950s, which explains why the sheer number of victims is so large. I would assume that the reason things got going then was the collapse of British India and the subsequent wave of migration to the UK. There were two massive waves of immigration from the region—the 1950s, during post-war reconstruction, and since the 1990s, when “Global Britain” became a thing.

The article concludes:

All this matters to us across the pond for a simple reason: Britain is not some alien culture, and this is not some ancient tragedy. This is what a modern liberal democracy based on the same fundamental system of justice and traditions can do when it deviates from the norms we have all come to expect.

We tend to assume that “that couldn’t happen here,” when all the evidence is that it certainly could. For all the wallowing in generational guilt when it comes to “colonialism,” it turns out that the sense of guilt so distorts our consciences that we turn our back on our own citizens.

“What did you think decolonialism looked like?” That was the leftist refrain after October 7th. You could say the same thing here.

This is what decolonial ideology leads to. And it is uglier than you can imagine, just as October 7th was.

This Is NOT A New Story

In 2014, I posted an article about the grooming scandal in Rotherham, England.

On August 31, 2014, The U.K. Telegraph reported (it is behind a paywall):

The Rotherham scandal and a series of cases in towns including Rochdale highlighted how evidence of Pakistani men targeting white girls for abuse was repeatedly played down for fear of accusations of racism.

Mr Danczuk (Simon Danczuk, who helped expose a pattern of grooming of white teenage girls by men from a Pakistani background in Rochdale, where he is the Labour MP) said the elements of Pakistani political culture itself were partly to blame for the cover-up.

“There are cultural issues around the way politics are done in the Asian community which have to change,” he said.

He said he had personally come under pressure from Asian councillors and members of the community for speaking out as well as being warned by prominent figures in his party.

He pointed to the way in which two Muslim councillors in Rochdale had provided character references for one of the perpetrators of the Rochdale abuse.

That was 10 years ago. At that time, it had been going on for sixteen years.

On January 8. 2025, The U.K. Telegraph reported:

Safeguarding minister Jess Phillips’ decision to block a public inquiry into the Oldham grooming gangs seems, from the outside, to be almost inexplicable. Children were raped and abused by gangs of men while the authorities failed to protect them.

A review of the abuse in Oldham was released in 2022, but its terms of reference only stretched from 2011-2014. Survivors from the town said that they wanted a government-led inquiry to cover a longer period, and catch what the previous review had missed. In Jess Phillips’s letter to the council, revealed by GB News, she said she understood the strength of feeling in the town, but thought it best for another local review to take place.

This is a scandal that should be rooted out entirely, and investigated by the full might of the British state. Voices ranging from Elon Musk to Kemi Badenoch have joined the calls for an inquiry. Yet the Government seems curiously reluctant to dig into the failings of officials.

Elon Musk has taken a lot of heat for calling for an investigation. Because the push-back he is receiving, I wonder exactly who is involved in this scandal. This is an important story. Western civilization cannot ignore the continuing abuse of children.

Foreign Election Interference

On Thursday, The Conservative Treehouse posted an article about British efforts to influence the upcoming presidential election.

The article includes this screenshot:

The article notes:

[SOURCELINKEDIN]

The left-leaning Labour Party won a majority in the Parliament in July, toppling the Conservative government and making Labour leader Keir Starmer the new prime minister.

In a post originally published on LinkedIn calling for more volunteers, Sofia Patel, head of operations for the Labour Party, wrote, “I have nearly 100 Labour Party staff (current and former) going to the US in the next few weeks heading to North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia.”

“I have 10 spots available for anyone available to head to the battleground state of North Carolina – we will sort your housing,” she added. (read more)

GB News reported, “Confirmation of a Labour campaign push raises doubts about the Prime Minister’s previously neutral stance on the 2024 US Presidential Election.”

It is worth remembering the British intelligence operation (Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), commonly known as MI6) was at the center of the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy in 2016.

This is not acceptable.
