Ending Partisan Partnerships

On Monday, American Greatness reported that FBI Director Kash Patel has ended the partnership between the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This is good news. The ADL is not a neutral player.

The article reports:

FBI Director Kash Patel has formally cut ties with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that were enacted under former director James Comey, saying, “The FBI won’t partner with political fronts masquerading as watchdogs.”

Patel accused Comey of writing “love letters” to the ADL and of embedding FBI agents within the group that has recently been under fire from Republican lawmakers for listing Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) organization as an extremist group.

The ADL had described TPUSA as being tied to, “a range of right-wing extremists and has generated support from anti-Muslim bigots, alt-lite activists and some corners of the white supremacist alt-right.”

The article notes:

The FBI also announced that it is cutting its ties with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) over the organization’s history of labeling conservative groups and individuals as extremists.

America First Legal, a conservative nonprofit law firm, has documented the close coordination between the SPLC and the former Biden Justice Department, including training and data access.

Both the ADL and SPLC are accused of flagging political targets for the Biden DOJ  and contributing to the weaponization of government against parents who spoke out against school boards or activists who peacefully protested near abortion clinics.

The FBI has been arresting criminals (as they are supposed to do) since President Trump took office. As of March, the FBI had arrested three people on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List. During 2024, the Biden administration arrested none of the Ten Most Wanted. Obviously, the focus of the FBI needed to change, and it has.

Charlie Kirk:  Death of a Freedom Warrior

Author:  R. Alan Harrop, Ph.D.

When asked what type of government was created by the Constitution, Benjamin Franklin replied “A republic, if you can keep it.” This well- known comment, could not be more relevant than it is today. While threats from other countries have occurred and are still occurring, the threat Franklin was referring to was from within. For our country to survive as founded, it must have people who not only recognize threats, but are willing to stand up and fight for freedom. Charlie Kirk, was one such prominent freedom warrior.

Marxism, since its founding in the 1800s, has been a continuing threat to all freedom loving people. Essentially, Marxism encourages people to group themselves into the oppressors and the oppressed and also, importantly, sanctions the use of whatever means necessary to overthrow the so-called oppressors. The fact that all Marxist countries are notorious for taking away individual freedoms and establishing oppressive regimes (e.g. Russia, China, North Korea, etc.) is ignored by those who follow Marxist principles. The largest mass killings of their own people were committed by Marxist governments such as Russia and China. After WWII, the people in this country recognized and resisted the threat of communism. Increasingly, many of the people in our country are leaning more to the left, as can be seen by the support for an avowed Marxists Zohran Mamdani in NYC, Congresswoman Cortez, and Bernie Sanders. Charlie Kirk recognized this threat and created Turning Point USA to defeat it. He appealed to the rational side of human nature–not the emotional side as the Marxists do. He was willing to debate all-comers and did so in a non-defensive manner. His slogan was “Prove me wrong!” Unfortunately, most of those on the left do not want rational debate which they cannot win, so they hurl insults and use hateful labels against their political opponents. Recent polling shows that left leaning people are much more likely to accept violence as a way of dealing with their opponents. This is especially troubling since it occurs on college campuses where one would hope that rational debate would be the ideal.

Charlie Kirk was also not afraid to state and defend his religious beliefs. In fact, he acknowledged that his Christian faith was the basis for his political stance and the motivation behind is effort to challenge destructive Marxist indoctrination. It must be remembered that Marxism is anti-religion in any form. In fact, Marxists endorse what is called nihilism, which essentially states that life has no meaning and that there are no absolute morals. Basically, one is free to do whatever one wants without guilt. It is impossible to imagine a law abiding, successful culture without any guidelines on behavior and no accepted right or wrong. One can see this thinking in those who believe in unrestricted abortion and especially in transgenderism where not even one’s sex is predetermined. This philosophy leads to hopelessness, depression, and lack of conscience, which we are seeing in the senseless killings, many of which are by transgenders and other disturbed individuals. Charlie Kirk fought against this destructive philosophy by including Christianity in his appeal to younger people.

Another traditional value that Charlie Kirk emphasized was the importance of the nuclear family and the raising of children. Marxism discourages the traditional family, since they want people to rely on the government not family. This enables them to more easily control people. Charlie challenged men to get married and assume the traditional role of a man as the breadwinner, leader and protector of wife and children. He realized that the declining birthrate in America would eventually be its undoing, as has happened to many earlier civilizations such as Rome. Marriage and raising a family are the natural order of things that is rejected by the Left, leading many people to live lonely, disconnected, and unfulfilled lives.  The Bible also supports the idea of being fruitful and multiplying.

The Left is always accusing the conservative right of being dangerous because of their affinity for guns and the Second Amendment. The truth is that the Leftists are the actual fomenters of violence. Not only with actual or attempted assassinations, but as one can see, by comparing the reactions to the death of George Floyd and Charlie Kirk. George Floyd was a multiple offender who refused to obey the legitimate command of law enforcement officers responding to the commission of a crime. The result was months of riots, burnings, robberies and taking over parts of cities. Many deaths and injuries, as well as billions of dollars in property damage, were the result. Charlie Kirk, a law-abiding father of two who was engaging in rational debate on a college campus, did nothing wrong except hold beliefs opposed to by the left. The reaction by conservatives has been vigils, prayer services, and memorials to a true patriot. Actually, this comparison is all one needs to know about the true threat to our republic. Over 50,000 media posts have celebrated the assassination of someone who did nothing but stand up for American principles and his religious faith. Things the Left cannot stand.

To respect the legacy of Charlie Kirk, we conservatives must show the same courage and convictions that he did. We cannot allow ourselves to be silenced. We must speak out as well as take action to rid ourselves of the Leftist ideology that is destroying our country. Getting involved and staying active in conservative organizations like the Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association, supporting Turning Point USA, and attending school board meetings are some ways we can fight back against the Left. Because many of our universities are controlled by Leftist administrators and professors, I would like to see the Trump administration require all institutions receiving federal money, to balance the percentage of staff that are Left leaning with equal numbers of conservatives. Although extreme, it is going to take innovative action to reclaim the universities that are indoctrinating our children to hate America. Patriotism and love of country must be restored.

Things You Shouldn’t Say In Public (Or On TikTok)

The 1819 News posted an article on Monday reporting that Lauren Ogen, a Capitol Heights Middle School teacher, who posted a video on TikTok video celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk, has been placed on administrative leave. I can understand celebrating the death of someone like Adolph Hitler or Osama Bin-Laden, although I wouldn’t necessarily post a video of it, but Charlie Kirk never killed anyone, or as far as I can see, never ever raised his voice against anyone. Why, in the mind of this schoolteacher, did he deserve to die? Charlie Kirk believed in dialogue and debate. Isn’t that something this teacher should have been teacher her students?

The article reports:

Lauren Ogen, a Capitol Heights Middle School teacher, reportedly posted on TikTok that she told her daughter, “down with the bigots,” after learning of Kirk’s assassination while speaking at a college campus in Utah on Wednesday.

If she had bothered to do her own research, she would have discovered that Charlie Kirk was not a bigot.

The article notes:

We need this right now. We really need this right now. As a community, we need this. We need this win,” Ogen reportedly said on the video. “When we get home and (my daughter) does in fact confirm that he died, I said, ‘I hope it was traumatic and I hope he suffered, the way that we’re suffering because of the bigoted bullshit he spoke.’ Again, down with the dirty big heads and the bigots.”

Montgomery Public Schools superintendent Zickeyous Byrd said in an email obtained by 1819 News to MPS officials on Friday that the video by the Capitol Heights teacher “sparked community concern” and “violated district policy.”

“Out of an abundance of caution for both the safety of the teacher and the school community, I am placing the employee on administrative leave effective immediately. Furthermore, I will be recommending this teacher for termination at our next Board meeting,” Byrd said. “Please know that this decision was not taken lightly, but the seriousness of the policy violation combined with the safety concerns requires swift action. Our priority must remain on maintaining a professional, respectful, and safe environment for our students, staff, and community.”

My concern is also for the daughter she is raising–is she being taught to think or indoctrinated?

Rewriting History

On Wednesday, Breitbart posted an article about a recent statement by former President Barack Obama. The headline of the article is “Obama Implies Trump to Blame for Charlie Kirk Assassination: ‘Extreme Views Were Not in My White House.’” Wow! Talk about not reading the room.

The article reports:

Obama was interviewed onstage by Steve Scully at the Jefferson Educational Society in Erie, Pennsylvania.

He mourned Kirk’s death, saying it was “horrific,” but made sure to recite an (inaccurate) laundry list of Kirk’s more controversial statements, including a false claim that Kirk claimed black women were stupid.

Obama then said that Trump wanted to use Kirk’s assassination as “a rationale for trying to silence discussion around who we are as a country and what direction we should go.” He then claimed that when he had been in the White House, “those extreme views were not in my White House. I wasn’t embracing them. I wasn’t empowering them. I wasn’t putting the weight of the United States government behind extremist views.”

In fact, it was Obama who inaugurated an era of division and extremism. On the campaign trail in 2008, he encouraged his supporters to confront friends and neighbors, and “argue with them, get in their face.”

As president, Obama backed the violent Occupy Wall Street protests. Most significantly, he fanned the Trayvon Martin controversy into a racially divisive crisis, turning to radical Al Sharpton — a demagogue so toxic that Obama had once refused to have anything to do with him, until he needed black support. Obama also embraced the destructive Black Lives Matter movement, which would go on to cause nationwide chaos.

The article reminds us:

In his remarks on Tuesday, Obama also praised moderate Republicans as an alternative to Trump, such as Utah Gov. Spencer Cox — forgetting that he had spurned even moderate Republicans like Paul Ryan. When Ryan, then the chair of the House Budget Committee, proposed reforming entitlements, Obama invited Ryan to a speech on the subject, and then condemned him, to his face.

Obama later said he regretted doing so, and that he did not realize Ryan would actually be in the room. But today Obama shows no such contrition about contributing to a toxic political climate in which the left, more than the right, feels violence can be justified.

President Obama began his political career as a community organizer. He never really left that role.

A World Upside Down

On Monday, The Gateway Pundit posted an article about ABC affiliate anchor Beni Rae Harmony. She resigned after being suspended for paying tribute to Charlie Kirk. There are a lot of stories about people who lost their jobs because they rejoiced at the death of Charlie Kirk, but this is the first I have heard about someone being fired for saying something nice.

The article reports:

Beni Rae Harmony was suspended after she delivered a heartfelt message to her audience after her “mentor,” Charlie Kirk, was gunned down.

“Effective immediately, I have resigned from @WICS_ABC20 after being SUSPENDED for airing a non-partisan tribute to Charlie Kirk this past Friday,” Beni Rae Harmony said.

…“Many in the mainstream media have been fired or punished for mocking his assassination. I believe I am the first to be targeted for honoring him on air,” she said. “My resignation is guided by values that are essential to who I am, which I refuse to set aside in order to keep a job. I choose my faith and love of country, and always will.”

“God Bless Charlie Kirk and his beautiful family, and God Bless these United States of America,” she added.

Does anyone else remember the get-along shirts that you would put siblings in together until they stopped fighting? I think America needs one of those.

Putting Back The Firewall

I will admit that I have never before heard of the Smith-Mundt Act (officially the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act)). This Act was passed in 1948 and allowed the U.S. government to conduct foreign propaganda campaigns, radio, film, exchanges, cultural outreach, aimed at influencing foreign populations during the Cold War.

On Monday, The Gateway Pundit posted an article about the Act, reporting the following:

But the law contained one critical safeguard: propaganda made for foreign audiences was forbidden from being used inside the United States. Washington could not psy-op its own people. This firewall stood for more than six decades.

In 2012, tucked into the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2013, Congress passed the Smith–Mundt Modernization Act, introduced by Representative Mac Thornberry (R-TX) and signed by Barack Obama on January 2, 2013.

It shredded the firewall and legalized domestic distribution of State Department and U.S. Agency for Global Media (formerly Broadcasting Board of Governors) materials.

By July 2, 2013, it was official: U.S. citizens could now be subjected to the same government-crafted propaganda once reserved for foreigners.

Seven months ago, investigative watchdog Mike Benz revealed to Joe Rogan in an interview what really happened with the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012.

Obama’s “modernization” wasn’t modernization at all; it was the effective repeal of Smith–Mundt, a deliberate move to unleash the State Department, CIA, and USAID’s propaganda weapons on the American people.

The article notes:

Utah Senator Mike Lee announced he will soon introduce groundbreaking legislation to restore the original protections of the Smith-Mundt Act—and he’s renaming it the “Charlie Kirk Act” in honor of the conservative leader assassinated just days ago.

“In the coming days, I’ll be filing my previously drafted legislation to restore Smith-Mundt, and renaming it the Charlie Kirk Act. Domestic, political, government-funded propaganda must end now,” Lee wrote on X.

We have seen the results of government propaganda in recent years. The Smith-Mundt existed from 1948 until 2013 without being used against American citizens. It’s time it was either repealed or brought back to its original form. The change in that law is one more example of the damage done to our Republic by both the Executive Branch of Government and the Legislative Branch of Government during the Obama administration. In a free republic, the government should not be allowed to spew propaganda at the voters.

Wisdom

Sean Ono Lennon posted a comment on X about Charlie Kirk’s death.

This is part of that comment:

There is a famous quote falsely attributed to Voltaire that however does sum up a principle of enlightenment philosophy, ‘I disagree with what you say, but I would die to defend your right to say it.’

The ideas of people like John Locke and Voltaire and Thomas Paine are what lead to the American Revolution which then inspired the French Revolution. They introduced the World to the idea that individual rights were important and should be protected from Monarchs (tyrants and dictators), and ultimately led to the idea that a country should be governed by its people NOT by the Church and NOT by a King.

If citizens don’t protect and respect each other’s right to disagree, then we cannot have a democracy. If we do not protect our right to disagree then we’ll get violence.

We do NOT want a society where violence is the way we win arguments, because then nobody wins. Everyone loses.

We are ALL losing right now. The whole society is losing together. Losing to violence. It’s unbelievably sad. It took so much work to get us here. We can’t throw it all away like spoilt children.

I did NOT agree with Charlie Kirk’s views on MANY important topics. I know he helped get Trump elected and people hate him for that. But he was a conservative Christian. What do you expect a conservative Christian to believe? How can those views surprise you? He argued those views calmly, reasonably, and considerately as far as I’ve seen.

But no matter what he did not deserve this. His wife did not deserve this. His kids did NOT deserve to have their world torn apart!

I probably disagree with Sean Lennon on most things, but there is a tremendous amount of wisdom in this statement. Certainly, Sean Lennon understands the impact this event has on Charlie Kirk’s family. We can all learn to work together peacefully.

However–just for the record–America is a Republic–not a democracy.

The Death Of A Warrior

Many years ago when I taught Vacation Bible School, we sang a song that went, “I may never march in the infantry, ride with the cavalry, zoom in an airplane, but I’m in the Lord’s Army.” Charlie Kirk, who was shot yesterday, was part of the Lord’s Army. God chose him for the work he did, even as a teenager.

Yesterday, Breitbart posted Charlie Kirk’s email sent to Breitbart News in April 2012, shortly after Andrew Breitbart’s death.

This is the text of that email:

My name is Charlie Kirk and I was referred to you by … from the Chicago Tea Party rally. I am a high school student from Wheeling, Illinois and Co-Founder of a conservative youth group called SOS Liberty. [He] told me to contact you after I informed him about some of our activities and the blatant misinformation in our public school textbooks. For example, our District 214 AP Economics textbook is written by Paul Krugman and is littered with biased and subjective analysis. SOS Liberty wants to correct certain information and provide an alternative viewpoint to combat the liberal brainwashing that is taking place in our classrooms.

When we showed one chapter of Krugman’s textbook to the dad of one our SOS members, he was so outraged he couldn’t sleep and critiqued Krugman’s misinformation. Attached is one chapter of Krugman’s textbook (with the Dad’s notes written in the margins). For example, there is a reference to Reagan’s economic plan and Krugman concludes, “The Reagan tax cuts showed no sign of acceleration in economic growth.” In fact, the Reagan tax cuts produced one of the biggest expansions in our history, yet high school students are being brainwashed to believe that the Reagan’s tax cuts were not successful. We at SOS Liberty are committed to combating this sort of blatant and biased propaganda. It’s frightening to think that this Krugman’s book is likely being used by high schools throughout the nation. Is your organization aware of this Krugman textbook?

SOS Liberty sends student speakers throughout northern Illinois to present a video and power point presentation about our nation’s spiraling debts and deficits which is followed up with a question and answer period. We have spoken to various community organizations, tea party groups etc. and have received rave reviews including the endorsement of Congressman Joe Walsh. We have also appeared on local TV and our student activism has received coverage in newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune. We just agreed to host a local radio show which will begin next week. SOS Liberty is trying to educate others that our generation will soon be drowning in debt. We are a group of passionate student activists who are crying out for help which is why we’re called SOS. As we make our voices heard, we are sounding the alarm to our peers to WAKE UP to the generational theft that is taking place!

Wow! He was eighteen when he wrote that letter. He had already co-founded a group to get the truth out to his fellow high school students.

The Bible tells us that God numbers our days even before we are born. With that in mind, I am grateful for the gift God gave us in having Charlie Kirk for 31 years.

My sympathies and prayers go out to his family.

The Flak Is Always Thickest Over The Target

The first two weeks of the Trump administration have been a whirlwind. That is probably because the President realizes that he needs to act quickly to prevent a major crash of the American economy. The best way to cut taxes is to cut government spending, and that is happening at breakneck speed. Not everyone is happy.

On Tuesday, Hot Air posted an article about the hill the Democrats are prepared to die on.

The article reports:

Of all the things Donald Trump is doing to upend the old order in Washington, it turns out that closing USAID, even temporarily, is the one thing that all Democrats can agree is egregious enough to go to war over.

Here are a few X screenshots from the article:

The article concludes:

Democrats are making it clear that they will fight like cornered rats to keep control of USAID and its massive funding stream.

We all know why, which is why Trump needs to win this battle one way or another.

This is a major step toward cutting government spending and lowering taxes for the American people.

This Is Where We Are

Posted by Charlie Kirk on Twitter:

Every facet of the legal offensive against Trump is utterly unprecedented in American history.

Nothing like today’s ruling in New York, imposing a $354 million fine and banning Trump from all business in New York, has ever happened before. New York’s law allowing for the total dissolution of companies is meant for businesses that are, in fact, fraudulent — those that impersonate other businesses, or rely wholly on fraud to do business. It’s never been used to decapitate a functioning business over a supposed “fraud” that had zero victims.

Nothing like the E. Jean Carroll case has ever happened in American history either. Carroll claims Trump raped her, yet can’t give a year and has a story that matches a TV episode. Trump has never been charged, and all he said is that the allegation was untrue — so he’s been hit with a judgment of more than $83 million. This utterly rewrites the entire concept of defamation law all to attack one person — and I mean that literally, because New York rewrote its state laws specifically to let Carroll bring her ridiculous case, and then had the law sunset six months later.

Nothing like the Alvin Bragg criminal case against Trump has ever happened. Bragg is charging Trump with a felony for falsifying business records. But New York law only allows that to be a felony if it’s done to cover up a separate felony. Yet no other felony has ever been charged — instead, Bragg claims Trump violated FEDERAL election laws simply by making payments to Stormy Daniels. The insane claim is that ANYTHING Trump does to protect his reputation is an election expense that must be reported to the FEC. No court has ever ruled this, and no federal prosecutor has even tried to prosecute Trump for this, yet Bragg, a LOCAL prosecutor, claims the authority to interpret the law this way. Unprecedented.

Nothing like the Fani Willis indictment of Trump has ever happened in this country’s history, either. Fani accused Trump of furthering a “conspiracy” by urging lawmakers to vote a certain way on proposed legislation, and by encouraging the public to watch televised hearings on OANN. Even if Fani Willis’s personal life weren’t a mess of scandal, her case would be a travesty.

And of course, nothing like Jack Smith’s indictment of Donald Trump has ever happened either. No politician in modern US history has ever been charged with a crime for giving a speech where he explicitly told supporters to be peaceful. No American politician has ever been held criminally responsible for every action by any person who supports him. Jack Smith’s case throws out a century of First Amendment law…and it has to, because everything about it completely undermines the First Amendment.

One day, future observers will be shocked and astonished at how America’s leaders ripped up every rule, every norm, and every right that had guaranteed America’s well-being, all for the sake of destroying one man out of hatred.

Walls And Fences Work

It’s amazing no one shouted this earlier, but an article at a website called ‘check your fact‘ posted in October of 2018 has some very interesting information about the success of border walls and fences. The article deals with a barrier put up at the border of Hungary.

The article reports:

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk claimed on Twitter that illegal immigration in Hungary decreased by 99 percent after the country built a border wall.

“Hungary built a wall and illegal immigration collapsed by 99%” he said Oct. 22.

Verdict: True

The article includes the following graph:

The article then goes on to note that there were some policy changes in immigration that also could have also impacted the above numbers.

The article notes:

From 2015 to 2017, however, there was also a 98 percent drop in crossings through the Western Balkan route that leads to Hungary, according to Frontex, the European Union’s (EU) border control agency. It’s therefore difficult to assess how much the drop in illegal border crossings can be attributed to increased border security versus the drop in overall migration levels, as both played a role.

The EU and Turkey reached an agreement in March 2016 where migrants who had traveled from Turkey to Greece would be sent back. Around the same time, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia closed off their borders, largely stemming the flow of migrants heading north.

Sending people back also limits illegal immigration.

The article includes the following graph:

The point I am attempting to make in this article is simple–we have known for years what works in terms of securing national borders. President Trump implemented many of the policies that have been proven to be successful. It is unfortunate that the Biden administration has made a conscious decision to leave our southern border unsecured. Either it is a conscious decision or they are really ignorant.
