The Circle Of Money

Why is the federal government giving money to groups that lobby the federal government? This defies common sense. It is, however, a neat deal for those involved–legislators get money for their political campaigns in return for channeling federal money to the organizations that sponsor the Political Action Committees (PAC) that give them the money. It’s a good deal if you are part of it, and a bad deal for America and American taxpayers.

Investor’s Business Daily posted an article yesterday about this practice.

The article points out the insanity of what is going on:

Latest lobbying disclosure documents indicate Planned Parenthood spends at least $2 million a year directly lobbying Congress and state legislatures. And this year, as PP fights to retain its umbilical cord — no pun intended — to the Federal Treasury, the number’s going way up.

But the official lobbying expenditures don’t include tens of millions of other political spending. According to a recent analysis by Conservative News Service, “Planned Parenthood’s affiliates spent $26 million on public policy this past year, while the national office spent $31.3 million on building ‘advocacy capacity.'”

The mission of all this spending? The answer is obvious: to persuade Congress to continue to provide the organization with federal tax dollars.

So what we have here is an organization that receives at least half a billion dollars a year from taxpayers, and some of that money is used to lobby Congress to give them more taxpayer money.

The icing on the cake is that the money is borrowed from Japan and China. We have to pay interest on it.

The article details the problem:

Is it any surprise that under this racket it has become almost impossible to cut the budget or to balance receipts with expenditures? This is a common practice. The unions do it. The legal public aid community does it. Welfare organizations do it.

To be fair, it isn’t just left-wing groups that receive taxpayer dollars and lobby. So do corporations. Defense contractors run lobbying campaigns year-round to persuade Congress to spend more money on this weapon or that. Companies that have received the bulk of the funding for the Export Import Bank are bankrolling the PR campaign to keep the institution from closing down.

We will never curb government spending as long as we allow this kind of abuse of our system. The problem is not lobbying–that is and should remain legal. The problem is government-supported lobbying. That is ridiculous.

Some Statistics To Think About

There have been a number of videos released showing that Planned Parenthood engages in the sale of aborted baby parts. The videos are hard to watch, but there is a bigger story behind abortion. If ‘black lives matter,” which they do, then the people who are chanting that slogan should be doing it in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic.

In April of this year, Freedom Outpost posted a few statistics on abortion in America. Here are some of the numbers:

Approximately 3,000 Americans lost their lives as a result of the destruction of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11.  Every single day, more than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion.

It has been reported that a staggering 41 percent of all New York City pregnancies end in abortion.

Approximately 78 percent of all abortions in New York City are performed on African-American and Hispanic babies.

According to Pastor Clenard Childress, approximately 52 percent of all African-American pregnancies now end in abortion.

Planned Parenthood specifically targets the poor.  A staggering 72 percent of Planned Parenthood’s “customers” have incomes that are either equal to or beneath 150 percent of the federal poverty level.

The article further reports:

Every single year, both Democrats and Republicans vote to shower Planned Parenthood with hundreds of millions of dollars.

We are told that this must be done because of all the “good” the organization does.

But the truth is that this has been a despicably evil organization from the very beginning.  The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, once said the following….

“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

She has also stated:

Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”

Is this really what we want to use federal taxpayer dollars to support?

It’s Important–Even If The Media Chooses Not To Cover It

There have now been seven videos released showing the sale of aborted baby body parts by Planned Parenthood. I have not watched the entire video series although I have listened to enough to make me feel very uncomfortable (and somewhat sick to my stomach) with what Planned Parenthood is doing. The stories coming out are gruesome, and I don’t understand how medical personnel can be so calloused in dealing with the life of an innocent newborn child.

It seems as if many Americans are totally unaware of this story. Yesterday, The Federalist posted an article providing a possible explanation for the ignorance of the American public. The article details the role of a news site called BuzzFeed.

The article states:

If you use BuzzFeed as your primary source of news, however, you’d know nothing about the story. The same goes for the video in which a top Planned Parenthood official said she needed a good price on aborted baby organs because, “I want a Lamborghini.” That little detail was also never reported. In fact, it’s been over a month since BuzzFeed published any standalone stories featuring details from newly released undercover videos.

Now we know why: last night, BuzzFeed’s senior health editor Casey Gueren received an award from Planned Parenthood for “media excellence.”

The article details the stories that received the award. Suffice it to say that they were not stories that most Americans over the age of twenty-five would have read.

The article at The Federalist also reports:

Journalists from several other organizations also received Planned Parenthood “Maggie” awards, named after Margaret Sanger, the racist, eugenicist, Hitler-supporting founder of Planned Parenthood.

This Yahoo! Health editor received an award just hours after she published this story about how those multi-state and federal investigations of Planned Parenthood are like, totally, not a big deal you guys.

…More than a dozen additional journalists also received awards yesterdayfrom the nation’s largest abortion provider and unborn baby organ harvester. It would appear that the only thing Planned Parenthood enjoys more than harvesting baby parts to sell is rewarding activists with bylines for their work in snuffing out news coverage before it even leaves the cradle.

We have reached the point where Americans need to expand their news sources to make sure they are getting the news. There are a number of good news cites on the Internet that I would recommend (this one included). I particularly like PowerLine Blog and Lucianne.com. We have reached to point where we need to educate ourselves constantly. It takes some time and effort, but our national conscience is worth it.

How Media Bias Works

Many people who follow news sources other than the mainstream media have been appalled by the recent Planned Parenthood videos. The videos are edited, but it has been acknowledged that the unedited versions confirm that Planned Parenthood is selling aborted baby body parts. So why hasn’t there been outrage? Have we become that calloused? Well, maybe, maybe not. It seems that people who depend on the mainstream media for their news sources may not be aware of the videos.

On Wednesday, The Daily Signal posted an article about a CNN interview about an abortion poll taken in America.

The article reports:

A May 2015 Gallup poll asked, “Should abortion be legal?” Here’s how the numbers broke down:

Twenty-nine percent said abortion should be legal under any circumstances.

Fifty-one percent said abortion should be legal only under certain circumstances.

Nineteen percent said abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.

Here’s what Camerota (CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota) said:

“That’s 80 percent of respondents who believe abortion should be kept legal.” (She added together the 29 percent who said abortion should be legal in any circumstance and 51 percent who said it should be allowed only in certain circumstances.)

Here’s what Camerota could have said:

“That’s 70 percent of Americans who believe there should be limits on abortion.” (Adding together the 51 percent who said it should be legal only in certain circumstances and the 19 percent who said it should not be legal under any circumstances.)

Those who identify as pro-choice are more inclined to report the poll the way CNN did, and those who identify as pro-life are likely to use the latter number—the point being, in this particular poll and many others, you can “interpret the data” to get the spin you want.

The article further noted that CNN had omitted the answers to the following poll question:

Have you seen or heard recent news about videos that supposedly show Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of aborted fetus tissue, or not?”

Here were the responses:

Only 27 percent said they had heard a lot.

Only 21 percent said they had heard a little.

But 53 percent of respondents said they had not heard about the story at all.

I wonder how different the other answers in the poll about fetal tissue research and defunding Planned Parenthood would have been if the 74 percent of people who had heard or seen little to nothing had indeed seen the videos.

This is how media bias works.

Some Perspective From The Federalist Website

The Federalist posted the following statistics:

AbortionStatisticsThe article also included the following statement by The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops:

It has long been troubling to many Americans that the nation’s largest abortion network, performing over a third of all abortions, receives over half a billion taxpayer dollars a year. This concern has rightly grown in recent years.

The most recent revelations about Planned Parenthood’s willingness to traffic in fetal tissue from abortions, and to alter abortion methods not for any reason related to women’s health but to obtain more “intact” organs, is the latest demonstration of a callousness toward women and their unborn children that is shocking to many Americans.

The Catholic Church comes to this issue from a perspective rooted in experience. Catholic charitable agencies and pregnancy help centers have helped countless pregnant women find life-affirming alternatives to abortion. Our hospitals and other health facilities are second to none in providing quality health care for women.

We support the legislative proposal to reallocate federal funding, so that women can obtain their health care from providers that do not promote abortion. It is my sincere hope that you will be able to help advance this goal by supporting S. 1881.

The Senate did not vote to defund Planned Parenthood, but I suspect that the issue will come up again. It is time for the government to stop funding a group whose founder wanted to eliminate all ‘inferior human beings’ and create a race of thoroughbreds. Somehow that idea sounds vaguely familiar, and it didn’t end well the last time it was tried.

Follow The Money

The filibuster in the Senate yesterday prevented the defunding of Planned Parenthood. I am heartbroken that after videos showed that Planned Parenthood is selling aborted baby body parts, we couldn’t even cut off their federal funding. I wonder how people can be aware of what is happening to these unborn children and support the organization.

I looked up some of the political contributions Planned Parenthood makes. The information can be found at opensecrets.org. This is what I found:

PlannedParenthoodDonationsIt gets even more interesting:

PlannedParenthoodDonations2

This is how politicians can ignore the dismembering of babies and avoid a vote to defund Planned Parenthood. The Democrats who voted in support of Planed Parenthood are bought and paid for. The Republicans are not. The funding of Planned Parenthood by the federal government allows them to have the money to pour into political campaigns. This is a vicious cycle, and it needs to be stopped.

A Liberal I Can Respect

The political debate continues. The gap between both sides widens. However, every now and then someone accidentally bridges the gap and says something that most of us can agree on.

On Thursday, Newsbusters posted a portion of an interview of Camille Paglia by Salon.

The article reports:

Liberals think of themselves as very open-minded, but that’s simply not true!” she said. “Liberalism has sadly become a knee-jerk ideology, with people barricaded in their comfortable little cells. They think that their views are the only rational ones, and everyone else is not only evil but financed by the Koch brothers. It’s so simplistic!” Bring it, Camille!

Then, Paglia really got going. “Now let me give you a recent example of the persisting insularity of liberal thought in the media,” she said. “When the first secret Planned Parenthood video was released in mid-July, anyone who looks only at liberal media was kept totally in the dark about it, even after the second video was released.”

“It was a huge and disturbing story,” she continued, “but there was total silence in the liberal media. That kind of censorship was shockingly unprofessional. The liberal major media were trying to bury the story by ignoring it.”

“Now I am a former member of Planned Parenthood and a strong supporter of unconstrained reproductive rights. But I was horrified and disgusted by those videos and immediately felt there were serious breaches of medical ethics in the conduct of Planned Parenthood officials.”

“But here’s my point,” she concluded. “It is everyone’s obligation, whatever your political views, to look at both liberal and conservative news sources every single day. You need a full range of viewpoints to understand what is going on in the world.

The videotapes about Planned Parenthood are disturbing. I attempted to bring them up in a discussion with a liberal friend on Facebook and got called a lot of things I won’t repeat. A discussion of the issue was not possible. The video tapes were false and men were trying to control women’s bodies. I don’t know if our culture has reached the point of no return, but if we haven’t, we are definitely close. Selling aborted baby body parts is evil. We should at least be able to agree on that.

The Buck Stops…Somewhere

The two big news stories of the week this week were the death of Cecil the lion and the release of the videos showing Planned Parenthood selling aborted baby body parts. It is a sad commentary on our society that Cecil got more coverage on the mainstream networks and more outrage than the selling of aborted baby body parts.

Cecil was majestic. He was obviously everything a lion should be. The man who killed him is in hiding, fearing for his life. The dentist who killed Cecil claim that his guides misled him and that he thought he was just killing an ordinary lion. I am the first person to admit that I don’t understand hunting (other than with a camera), but I am not ready to condemn those who hunt. When I devour my cheeseburger, I really don’t want to think about its prior life. But that does take away my moral high ground to condemn hunting and hunters. Americans are very upset that Cecil was killed. Meanwhile, the videos of Planned Parenthood show that the organization is marketing aborted baby body parts. Where is the outrage? I don’t know. I don’t support the idea of killing abortion doctors or bombing abortion clinics, but why aren’t the people who are dismembering babies and selling the parts in hiding? Where are the people who protest using animals to test cosmetics?

I am reminded of the death of Princess Diana. People saw her as the embodiment of the fairy tale princess. She was a beautiful and seemingly gracious lady. When she died, the world mourned. Her funeral was the epitome of pomp and circumstance. Shortly after the death of Princess Diana, Mother Theresa died. Her funeral was simple (and beautiful—as was her life). The mourning for Mother Theresa was much more subdued—not like the show of grief for the loss of a princess. I think our values have been upside down for a while.

To conclude. Cecil is dead and Planned Parenthood is selling aborted baby body parts. People are outraged about Cecil and not really interested in the Planned Parenthood videos. Congress can’t even scrape together the votes to stop federal funding of Planned Parenthood. Eventually the buck stops…somewhere.

Are We Willing To Harvest Parts From Babies Born Alive During An Abortion?

If you answered no to the question in the title of this article, you might want to think about whether or not you support federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

MRCTV posted an article today about the latest video produced by the Center for Medical Progress. This video talks about selling the body parts of aborted babies born alive.

The article reports:

Perhaps, the most atrocious statements reveal that Planned Parenthood knows what they are doing is illegal and efforts are needed to conceal their program. “Putting it under ‘research’ gives us a little bit of an overhang over the whole thing,” Ginde remarks. “If you have someone in a really anti state who’s going to be doing this for you, they’re probably going to get caught.”

Referencing Planned Parenthood lawyer Kevin Paul, Ginde says, “He’s got it figured out that he knows that even if, because we talked to him in the beginning, you know, we were like, ‘We don’t want to get called on,’ you know, ‘selling fetal parts across states.’” The buyers then ask, “And you feel confident that they’re building those layers?” to which Ginde responds, “I’m confident that our Legal will make sure we’re not put in that situation.”

You can watch the video at the site listed above.

One Possible Reason You May Not See News Of the Planned Parenthood Videos In The Mainstream Media

Yesterday The Blaze posted an article that included a letter sent by Planned Parenthood to KVLY-TV in North Dakota.

The article includes the letter:

To: North Dakota Health and Political Reporters and Producers
From: Jen Aulwes, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota
Date: July 27, 2015
Re: Center for Medical Progress Expected to Violate Patient Privacy

The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) is an extreme activist organization whose sole mission is to prevent women from accessing health care and to destroy Planned Parenthood. The board members of this group believe that abortion is “genocide,” and employ people who went to jail for attempting to bomb a women’s health clinic. They are also connected with the man who murdered abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.

CMP has used footage obtained through deceit and unlawful behavior, including possible violations of state recording laws, federal tax laws and falsified state identification. Then, they concoct wildly false stories through selective editing. We expect this video will be no different in that regard; however, footage yet to come is expected to represent an extreme violation of patient privacy by including footage of post-abortion fetal tissue neither patients nor health care professionals authorized be filmed.

When your network decides whether to consider this story newsworthy, or whether to use any of this footage at all, we urge you to keep this in mind: The extremists who entered Planned Parenthood labs under false pretenses violated research protocol, and, worse, violated the privacy of patients involved. Those patients’ privacy should not be further violated by having this footage shared by the media.

The storage and examination processes that CMP used to get this footage are medically necessary. It is necessary medical professionals ensure an abortion is complete so that patients do not get an infection. When tissue is donated for medical research, these steps are also necessary for the donations to be completed. It is also medically necessary that researchers evaluate the laboratory procedures of a medical provider for safety standards and best practices.

Some of the conversations and protocols that occur in medical settings and among professional peers can sound jarring when taken out of context. While this can be difficult to hear or watch, it should not be used as an excuse to defund Planned Parenthood.

CMP gained access to Planned Parenthood facilities under false pretenses and filmed without securing approval from the Planned Parenthood staff being filmed or the patients whose privacy is compromised by this secret videotaping. The material should not be aired.

Please contact me at 651-755-XXXX or XXXXXXX@ppmns.org if you have any questions or need any more information.

This is called damage control. The more people who see these videos, the more people who will want Planned Parenthood defunded. I don’t know how you can watch this and want it to continue. Where are the people who complain when animals are used to test cosmetics?

I should probably make it clear that I do not support bombing abortion clinics or killing doctors who perform abortions. What I am willing to do is pray that the people performing abortions have a change of heart about what they are doing. Aborting a baby to protect a woman’s health is perfectly understandable and should be legal, but turning abortion into a million-dollar industry that sells aborted baby body parts is not something Americans should be proud of.

Senator Ernst Has Taken Action

Yesterday The Weekly Standard reported that Senator Joni Ernst has introduced a bill into the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood. The bill does not impact any other healthcare programs. The bill is two pages long and easy to understand.

This is the main part of the bill:

defundPlannedParenthoodBill

The article includes the following:

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate will vote on the measure before the congressional August recess. A third undercover video was also released today further documenting Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and selling the organs of aborted babies.

Abortion needs to be legal in the rare cases it is necessary to save the life of the mother. However, that is not what is driving the abortion industry. Abortions make money. Unfortunately, it has become a very profitable industry. The Guttmacher Institute reports that there were 1.05 million abortions in the US in 2012. It also reports that 4.8% of abortions in the US occurred from week 16 of pregnancy to week 32. We may not be able to stop the killing, but at least we can stop funding it.

Looking For Your Keys Under The Streetlight

There is an old story about a man walking around under a streetlight. A friend comes along and asks him what he is doing. The man explains that he has lost his car keys and is looking for them. The friend asks where the man lost his keys. The man points across the street. The friend then asks why he is looking for them on this side of the street. The man explains that the light is better over here. Unfortunately, there are times when our legal system is equally illogical.

Fox News is reporting today that California Attorney General Kamala Harris has replied to the letter written to her by four members of Congress (see previous article) requesting that she investigate the group that recorded the video of Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of baby body parts.

The article reports:

“We will carefully review the allegations raised in your letter to determine whether there were any violations of California law,” Harris said in the letter to four members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

She said her office will look into “allegations that individuals impersonated corporate officials from a fake biologics company, resulting in the release of secretly filmed videos of Planned Parenthood physicians without their consent.”

Harris, a Democrat, plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

The group that released the videos claims that no laws were broken:

David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, the group that released the videos, contends it follows all applicable laws when making videos that he called investigative journalism.

He said in a statement that Planned Parenthood is “trying to use the power of their political cronies to shut down free speech” and to “silence the freedom of the press.”

The videos have shined the spotlight on Planned Parenthood’s policies on aborted fetuses by three Republican-led congressional committees and three states.

Federal law prohibits the commercial sale of fetal tissue, but it allows the not-for-profit donation of tissue if the women who underwent abortions give their consent. Planned Parenthood says the payments discussed in the videos pertain to reimbursement for the costs of procuring the tissue — which is legal.

Planned Parenthood must be pouring a lot of the money it receives from the government into political campaigns. That is the only possible explanation for political figures not being disgusted by what the videos show.

Am I The Only One Who Thinks This Is Backwards?

Yesterday Gateway Pundit posted a press release and letter from Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Representative Yvette Clarke (D-CA) to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris regarding the recent disclosure of the sale of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood. The letter demands an investigation of the group that took the video exposing the sale of baby body parts.

What in the world have we become?

This Is The Story, What Are WE Going To Do About It?

There are two videos now exposing Planned Parenthood as guilty of selling aborted baby body parts. There is a lot of noise about the discovery (although I suspect this has been known in some circles for quite some time). What are we going to do about it? Does anyone in Congress at least have the intestinal fortitude to stop funding Planned Parenthood? That might be a first step. Do any of the people who scream about using animals in laboratories want to come forward and demand that the use of aborted baby body parts in laboratories should stop? Has Frankenstein become a reality?

On Sunday, The Washington Times posted an article about the selling of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood. The article explains that there is a loophole in the law that allows this to happen. Abby Johnson is a former clinic director for a Planned Parenthood facility in East Texas.

The article reports:

Based on her experience, Ms. Johnson says she saw nothing in the video to indicate that Planned Parenthood is breaking the law. At the same time, she said the video exposes a loophole that gives clinics and processing companies enormous latitude in setting reimbursement charges for fetal hearts, lungs and other organs.

“The law currently states that there can be moneys exchanged as long as they fit under certain categories like preservation, collection, storage, transport, etc.,” Ms. Johnson said. “And the law says there is not a maximum amount that can be charged or a minimum amount but that costs cannot be prohibitive. And that’s very subjective.”

(Corrected paragraph:) Ms. Johnson does not support the use of fetal-tissue for research.

“They [clinics] could say, ‘Well, it’s more difficult for me to harvest a brain than it is for me to harvest a kidney, so that collection fee is going to be $1,000 for a brain, whereas it’s only going to be $400 for a kidney,'” Ms. Johnson said. “And the problem is that it’s so subjective, the amount of money that can be charged. That’s really where we need reform.”

Arthur Caplan, director of medical ethics at NYU Langone Medical Center‘s Department of Population Health, also raised the issue of high transfer costs, telling Reuters that only a few companies collect the fetal tissue and that “they charge a lot for it.”

“I’m not sure people who donate it realize that,” Mr. Caplan added.

Again, what are we going to do about this? Are you willing to call your Congressman and ask that Congress stop funding Planned Parenthood? Are you willing to ask that the loophole in the law be changed so that aborted baby parts are not sold for profit? Are you as upset by this as you were by the killing of baby seals or the use of animals for cosmetic research? What kind of a society have we become?

More Bullying By The Obama Administration

The Obama Administration has shown itself to be thin-skinned in dealing with anyone who does not agree with them. They have also shown a willingness to shut down the free speech of any opposition. It is not surprising that they are also making things very difficult for groups who do not support abortion to get government grants to fight human trafficking.

Fox News reported today:

Religious groups that refuse abortion counseling no longer can get grants to help human trafficking victims unless they ensure the counseling is provided by a third party, under new guidelines by the Department of Health and Human Services.

In guidance quietly posted online in June, the agency said groups competing for grants must offer “the full range of legally permissible gynecological and obstetric care,” which includes abortion counseling and referrals. If groups don’t offer the services, they must propose an alternative approach to remain competitive for a grant.

That has at least one anti-abortion advocate contending the new policy may violate the federal Weldon Amendment, a law saying federal money can’t be awarded if it’s being used to discriminate against healthcare entities that won’t provide or refer women for abortions.

Under President Obama, the Department of Health and Human Services has become an advocate for abortion–not an advocate for improving the health of Americans. It is time for Americans to rethink what abortion has given us–do you support the selling of baby body parts? According to Planned Parenthood, they are doing nothing wrong when they sell baby body parts. Is this what you signed on for when you said you were ‘pro choice?’

There Are Rules For This?

The Washington Examiner posted an article today about the charges that Planned Parenthood is selling aborted baby parts for profit. Since the Obama Administration has been a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood, White House spokesman Josh Earnest was asked about the charges.

The article states:

On Friday, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the group’s explanation was good enough for the White House.

“I did read the news reports indicating that the policies that are followed by Planned Parenthood are entirely consistent with the strictest ethical guidelines that have been established in the healthcare industry,” Earnest said.

He then tried to refer questions about Planned Parenthood’s compliance with those standards to the group itself, and deflected when a reporter pressed him on whether the president believes it is ethical to sell aborted fetus remains.

“There are medical ethicists that have taken a close look at this, and Planned Parenthood, I understand, has said that they follow those ethical guidelines and in fact the highest ethical guidelines,” he said. “But for their compliance with them and exactly what that means, I’d obviously refer you to them.”

“I don’t have intimate knowledge of the kinds of practices that they engage in,” he added.

Evidently there are rules for selling aborted baby parts and Planned Parenthood is following them. It is truly sad that our culture has fallen to this level.

Defending The Indefensible

Yesterday I posted a story showing a video of a Planned Parenthood executive negotiating the sale of aborted baby parts. Obviously, Planned Parenthood is denying the charges.

Today, The Hill posted an article stating Planned Parenthood’s claim that the video is misleading and that the only thing Planned Parenthood was doing was sharing fetal tissue for medical research.

The article reports:

Democrats have been mostly silent on the issue as details continued to emerge Tuesday evening, when Planned Parenthood released 11 pages of attack points against the makers of the video.

The rapid rise of what has widely been called a “sting video” has surprised some Democrats on the Hill, including one aide who called the attention “unexpected.”

When asked about Republicans’ planned investigations into Planned Parenthood, Schakowsky said she wanted an investigation, instead, into the Center for Medical Progress, which she called “a phony company.”

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), another prominent supporter of abortion rights, also dismissed the latest attacks against Planned Parenthood.

“They’ve been attacking Planned Parenthood for years,” she said. “They’ve been calling for investigations for years, and they surface videos and they come on the attack … and I think it’s outrageous.”

Lee also said she has not seen the video.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), who is also a member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, said she had not heard of the video and could not comment.

“I’ll take a look at it, but I did not see it so I have no idea what’s in it,” she said.

Take a look at these arguments. Demanding an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress is a way to deflect attention away from Planned Parenthood. Another defender of Planned Parenthood refuses to acknowledge that there might be anything new in this video. Another defender would not comment because she had not heard of the video. Does anyone believe that you could have turned on the news at any time yesterday and missed hearing about the video?

The article also reported:

Democrats have been mostly silent on the issue as details continued to emerge Tuesday evening, when Planned Parenthood released 11 pages of attack points against the makers of the video.

Note that Planned Parenthood is not defending its actions–it is simply attacking the people that exposed the truth.

The selling of any part of aborted babies should be illegal. I don’t care what the purpose is, it should be illegal. We have people complaining about scientific testing done on animals. Who is standing up for murdered babies? We have people protesting the killing of baby seals. Who is going to protest the killing of baby humans?

This practice should not even qualify as part of any civilized society.

I Have No Words

The Weekly Standard posted an article today about the sale of aborted baby parts by Planned Parenthood. The article includes the following undercover video of a Planned Parenthood executive negotiating a deal.

This is the video (also found on YouTube). I have embedded it because I feel that it may be taken down in the near future. I am not sure that I would recommend watching it.

Keep in mind that the federal government has been funding Planned Parenthood for years. Tax money is supporting them. Also keep in mind that the inspiration behind Planned Parenthood is Margaret Sanger, who was believed in racial “purification.”

The article at The Weekly Standard concludes:

Previous investigations by Live Action have caught Planned Parenthood employees admitting on tape that they’re willing to perform sex-selective abortions and turn a blind eye to child sex trafficking. Planned Parenthood, an organization that performs hundreds of thousands of abortions each year, receives more than $500 million annually in taxpayer funding. The organization’s political arm, which has the staunch support of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, in turn spent more than $20 million in 2012 on efforts to elect Democratic politicians who support a right to abortion on demand.

Is this something you want your taxes supporting?

Why Are We Doing This To The Girl Scouts?

I was a Girl Scout. When we moved north, there was no troop, but in my younger years, I was a Girl Scout. I earned a roller skating badge, a cooking badge, and various other badges. It was a lot of fun. Well, I guess things have changed.

Life News is reporting that the In May 2013, WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scoutsparticipated in Women Deliver, a global conference with the purpose of “calling for action to improve the health and well-being of girls and women.”

The article reports:

The conference featured speakers such as late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, philosopher Peter Singer, who supports infanticide and euthanasia, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Some of the breakout sessions were entitled “Outing and Addressing Abortion Stigma” and “Why I Perform Abortions.” Exhibitors included many abortion and population control advocates such as Amnesty International, Guttmacher Institute, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Marie Stopes International, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, United Nations Population Fund, and WAGGGS.

Equally concerning is WAGGGS’ participation, along with International Planned Parenthood Federation and Planned Parenthood Global (PPFA global), in the Youth Advisory Group for the Women Deliver Conference. It seems to me that the Girl Scouts have some interesting, you might even say radical friends.

Abortion in America is not about women’s health–it is about the amount of money abortionists make and the lobby that protects them. I believe that abortion should be legal in cases where it is medically needed to protect the life of a woman–period. Abortion generally has as many risks (if not more) than pregnancy. Particularly when you consider that even in America, abortions are not always performed in the best of medical facilities with emergency equipment.

The Girl Scouts need to stay out of politics. There is enough for them to learn about simply being strong, successful women without having to support abortion.

It’s Not Really About Safety–It’s About Money

The Democrats have claimed that they want to make abortion safe and rare, but when it comes to supporting laws that make the procedure safer for women, they protest. The recent changes to abortion law in Texas are a good example of this.

Today the Daily Caller is reporting that the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a lower court‘s decision that the changes in abortion laws in Texas were unconstitutional.

The article reports:

The higher court’s opinion upheld the requirements that a lower court deemed unconstitutional — specifically the mandate that abortionists have admitting privileges in nearby hospitals and that the administration of abortion-inducing drugs comply with Food and Drug Administration protocols.

The ruling had one caveat, that the requirements may not be enforced against abortionists who already applied for admitting privileges but are still waiting to be accepted by hospitals.

There is a risk in any medical procedure, including abortion. What the new law does is put provisions in place to help ensure a woman’s safety if something goes wrong during an abortion. There is no reason that Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups should fight this as they have been claiming for years that their desire is to make abortions safe.

Abortion is about money, as the chart below from the Life Issues Institute illustrates (PPFA stands for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America):

Disturbing Testimony in Congress

Yesterday Hot Air posted a story about the testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee by a leader of one of the conservative groups targeted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Sue Martinek, President of the Coalition for Life of Iowa, detailed some of the correspondence she had received from the IRS:

“The IRS continued questioning us,” Martinek continued. “On June 22, 2009, IRS Agent Richards sent us additional written requests, as follows: ‘Please explain how all of your activities, including the prayer meetings held outside of Planned Parenthood are considered educational as defined under 501(c)(3).”

She added: “Organizations exempt under 501(c)(3) may present opinions with scientific or medical facts. Please explain in detail the activities at the prayer meetings. Also, please provide the percentage of time your organization spends on prayer groups as compared with the other activities of the organization. Please explain in detail the signs that are being held up outside of Planned Parenthood and explain how they are considered educational.’ When we met at our next board meeting, we all were disappointed with the IRS’ request.”

It gets worse. There was one pro-life group that was told it would not receive its tax-exempt status unless they signed an agreement not to protest at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. That is not only an infringement of the pro-life groups’ civil rights, it is illegal.

Someone needs to go to jail because of the actions of the IRS. It will be interesting to see who is chosen for that role–if anyone.

Another Suit Against Planned Parenthood For Billing Fraud

CBN News is reporting today that a former Planned Parenthood official in Los Angeles is claiming that the abortion provider over-charged the state and federal government by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The article reports:

Victor Gonzalez, former CFO for Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles, alleges that Planned Parenthood received fraudulent Medicaid reimbursements in excess of $200 million after illegally billing the federal program for oral contraceptives and contraceptive devices.

…Gonzalez’s accusations support the findings of Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative legal advocacy group, which has charged the abortion organization with abuse, waste, and potential fraud totaling over $100 million in tax funding.

In August 2012, CBN News reported on another Planned Parenthood fraud case in Texas.

We really do need to reconsider how our tax dollars are spent.Enhanced by Zemanta

A Disturbing Video From Florida

On Friday the Weekly Standard reported on a committee hearing in Florida where the state is considering a bill to require abortionists to provide medical care to an infant who survives an abortion.

This is part of the video of that hearing:

The article reports:

Alisa LaPolt Snow, the lobbyist representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, testified that her organization believes the decision to kill an infant who survives a failed abortion should be left up to the woman seeking an abortion and her abortion doctor.

“So, um, it is just really hard for me to even ask you this question because I’m almost in disbelief,” said Rep. Jim Boyd. “If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?”

“We believe that any decision that’s made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician,” said Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow.

When questioned further, Ms. Snow simply stated that she was not a physician or an abortion provider and could not provide further information.

I have no comment.

A Sad Year For America

CBN News reported today that during the 2011-2012 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions.

The article further reported:

At the same time, contraceptive services at Planned Parenthood has dropped 12 percent since 2009. Cancer screening and prevention services dropped 29 percent.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood reported a record $542 million in taxpayer funding last year. The Susan B. Anthony List reports that is 45 percent of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue.

At some point Americans need to realize that Planned Parenthood is not providing healthcare for American women–it’s purpose is killing babies. In three years, Planned Parenthood has killed nearly one million babies.

That is truly a sad statistic.
