Trying To Get The SAVE Act Passed

If you weren’t already convinced that America needs the SAVE Act to insure honest elections, watching the elections in California should convince you. However, John Thune seems to be having a lot of difficulty getting the SAVE Act passed. I am not sure how much of that difficulty he is actually creating.

On Tuesday (updated Wednesday), Just the News posted an article about a suggestion by Senator Marsha Blackburn on how to breakup the logjam.

The article reports:

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., is reviving an idea to end the current Senate parliamentarian’s blockade on the Save America Act election integrity law: enact a term limit for the position.

Blackburn told Just the News on Tuesday her legislation from a year ago to set term limits for the parliamentarian was gaining renewed steam as the GOP voter base stews over the chamber’s inability to pass President Donald Trump’s signature election law, imposing voter ID in citizenship checks.

“Now, when it comes to the parliamentarian, last year you had Senators Tuberville, Marshall, and I who filed a bill that called for term limits on the parliamentarian. And this is a discussion that has popped back up because of some of the decisions of the parliamentarian,” Blackburn told the Just the News, No Noise television show.

“I think it’s appropriate to term limit the parliamentarian,” she added. “You know, you have different positions, different assigned, and different offices that are term limited, whether it’s serving as on the Fed, or whether it’s serving on certain commissions, or in certain appointments, and we think it’s appropriate that the parliamentarian be someone that is term limited also.”

As Trump has pressed Senate Majority Leader John Thune to fire Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, Blackburn said more senators have rallied around the idea of her legislation.

The SAVE Act is supported by over 80 percent of Americans (including Democrats and unaffiliated voters). If the Senate does not represent the voters, who does the Senate represent?

Inquiring Minds Want To Know

Every now and then a Senator has the nerve to actually ask a question that the American public wants answered. Generally, efforts will then be made to either marginalize or remove that Senator. Sorry for the cynicism, but I have been watching Republicans for years and wondering if they actually had spines.

On Tuesday, Townhall reported the following:

Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn cornered FBI Director Christopher Wray Monday afternoon about the failure of the Bureau to release the client list of convicted sex trafficker and abuser Jeffrey Epstein. Wray was also pressed about why the FBI ignored accounts of victims. The exchange took place during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on oversight of the FBI. 

…Last week Democratic Committee Chairman Dick Durbin blocked the release of the flight logs to Epstein’s famous island where women and underaged girls were sex trafficked to high profile men. Former President Bill Clinton was a longtime friend of Epstein before he “committed suicide” in a New York City prison. 

“They don’t want to have a conversation about the estate of Jeffrey Epstein to find out the names of every person who participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s human trafficking ring,” Blackburn released in a statement. 

We can all draw our own conclusions as to why the list has not been released. I am sure that the fact that Ghislaine Maxwell is serving her prison time in a luxury prison in Florida is in no way connected to the fact that the list has not been released.

Whoops! I Guess We Forgot About That!

On Monday, Breitbart reported the following:

FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate admitted during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday that the FBI redacted any mention of audio recordings of Joe and Hunter Biden in a document shown last week to Republican lawmakers in which an FBI informant alleged the Bidens were involved in a bribery scheme around 2015 and 2016.

Under grilling from Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Abbate confirmed: “What I will tell you with respect to the document, the document was redacted to protect the source.”

If you believe that the only motive was to protect the source, I have some oceanfront property I want to see you in Arizona.

The article notes:

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Monday revealed that the document, which was a transcript of an FBI interview with an informant, contained references to 17 alleged audio recordings — 15 with Hunter Biden and two with then-Vice President Joe Biden. However, Grassley said, when the document was made available to the House Oversight Committee last week under pressure from Republicans, the references to the audio recordings had been deleted.

…Abbate had at first tried to skirt the question, with Blackburn asking him several times to explain why the information was redacted.

After he finally responded, she told him.

I think it would be helpful when you came before us, if you were willing to answer the questions, it would help to remove the perception that the American people have — they see you do it everyday — and that is politicizing the FBI and using it against the American people who don’t happen to be named Biden, Clinton, or one of the elites.

Abbate also denied that the FBI was politicized, which Blackburn disagreed with.

“There are two very clear standards of justice in this country. We see it every single day. The American people see this every single day. They look at you and see a politicized entity that is weaponizing an agency of the federal government against the American people,” she told him.

Does anyone still trust the FBI?
