Creative Editing on CBS (Again)?

If you are depending on CBS for your news, you are not only uninformed–you are misinformed. Their latest effort in creative editing occurred during an interview with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem on Face the Nation.

On Monday, Townhall reported:

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is ripping into CBS News for omitting her full answers during an interview on Face the Nation. The network cut almost 25 percent of her answers for their Sunday show, where Ms. Noem spoke about the ongoing efforts and operations to deport illegal aliens. She also expounded more about the ongoing case against Abrego Garcia, but CBS News took the hatchet to that as well (via DHS):

During the broadcast, CBS edits deprived the American people from hearing the truth about MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia. The following 25 seconds were cut from her answer:

“This individual was a known human smuggler, MS-13 gang member, an individual who was  a wife beater, and someone who was um so perverted that he solicited nude photos from minors. And even his fellow human traffickers told him to knock it off. He was so sick in what he was doing and how he was treating small children. So, uh, he needs to  never be in the United States of America and our administration is making sure we’re doing all that we can to bring him to justice.” 

During an answer to a question about Secretary Noem’s successful arrest of 5,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles, CBS cut the following: 

“…And many of these individuals were people who have, you know, conducted horrific um horrific activities against American citizens, trafficking of children and pedophiles. And so that’s uh one of the things that the people of a LA can be grateful for is that they don’t have those bad actors, those people on their streets anymore because of the work of President Trump and his administration.” 

We don’t need foreign criminals walking around America. We have enough of our own.

When The Interview Does Not Go As Planned

Enforcing the rule of law can be messy. Maintaining control of a potentially dangerous situation can result in actions that are misunderstood. The media loves to misunderstand any action taken by a Republican or any individual associated with President Trump. If someone can make a scene, it can be promoted to media gold.

On Thursday, The Blaze posted an article illustrating what happens when the media misjudges its interviewee.

The article reports:

A security expert appeared to stun the CNN anchor who asked him to assess the incident where a Democrat politician was aggressively shoved out of DHS Sec. Kristi Noem’s press conference.

Democrats are outraged over the video footage of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla of California being dragged out of a briefing Thursday, but instead of justifying the outrage, Josh Campbell said the agents acted appropriately to the threat.

The security expert cited a number of actions which generally result in someone being removed from a press conference–interrupting the speaker before the question and answer period puts security guards on alert, and turning toward the agents escorting the person out is seen as indicating a lack of compliance.

A Fox News article posted Friday reports:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Padilla did not initially identify himself as a senator, and was not wearing his Senate security pin.

However, footage captured by Fox News shows him saying, “I’m Senator Alex Padilla, I have questions for the secretary,” as he was escorted out of the room.

Noem told The Story’s Martha MacCallum that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) personnel began handcuffing the senator in the hallway, at which point he identified himself, and they ceased action.

Considering the constant stream of threats made against President Trump and the people in his administration, I believe that the actions taken by the security staff. There is no reason for outrage.

Dealing With The Leaks

The first Trump administration had a major problem with people in the administration leaking to the press. Generally these were not leaks that in any way helped the administration. Many of them were quite damaging. It seems as if the second Trump administration has learned some lessons from the first Trump administration.

On Tuesday, The Daily Wire reported:

Dan Caldwell, adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, has been placed on leave pending an ongoing investigation into leaks in the Defense Department, The Daily Wire has confirmed.

An official within the Defense Department confirmed the report to Daily Wire White House Correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan on Tuesday.

…Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has employed polygraph testing in her efforts to root out suspected leakers within the DHS. Tricia McLaughlin, DHS’ assistant secretary for public affairs, issued a statement to Fox News Digital on that initiative, saying, “Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS is unapologetic about its efforts to root out leakers that undermine national security. We are agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment or status as a career civil servant – we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has also taken a hardline stance on potential leakers in the intelligence community, saying in a statement, “Politically motivated leaks undermine our national security and the trust of the American people and will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, such leaks have become commonplace with no investigation or accountability. That ends now. We know of and are aggressively pursuing recent leakers from within the Intelligence Community and will hold them accountable.”

If you hold an important position in the government, you should not be leaking to the press. It is unprofessional and undermines the administration. There should be a more severe penalty than just losing your job.

Exactly Who Is Supposed To Be Running Our Government

President Trump is the head of the Executive branch of our government. He is in charge of the agencies in the Executive branch. They are not separate entities–they are under his authority. However, some members of these agencies don’t seem to understand that they are actually accountable to someone.

On Monday, The Post Millennial posted an article about some recent comments by a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official.

The article reports:

A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official was caught on undercover video admitting that the agency intends to defy the directives of newly confirmed DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, according to footage released by James O’Keefe’s O’Keefe Media Group.

Brandon Wright, Platform Services Manager for DHS, was recorded saying that the agency’s career bureaucrats do not allow political appointees to interfere with their operations. He told the undercover reporter, “Kristi Noem? I f*cking hate her.”

In the corporate world, that would be insubordination, and he would be fired. Brandon Wright has been placed on administrative leave. That is the appropriate response. This is actual insurrection, which can be defined as the act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government. The video of these statements is embedded in the article.

The article concludes:

Noem, the former governor of South Dakota, was confirmed as DHS Secretary on Saturday in a 59-34 Senate vote. Before her confirmation, she vowed to shut down the CBP One App, which was then deactivated prior to her assuming office. Noem replaces Alejandro Mayorkas, who served as DHS Secretary under the Biden administration and faced widespread criticism for his handling of the southern border and failure to curb illegal immigration.

Following her confirmation, Noem posted on X: “My mission as Secretary of Homeland Security is to keep America safe. Under my leadership, DHS will protect the American people with integrity and honesty. President Trump is putting Americans’ safety FIRST.”

There should be no doubt that she is in charge.
