Law Don’t Mean Anything Unless They Are Enforced

On Friday, Hot Air posted an article about the ongoing vote counting in the Senate election in Pennsylvania. So far those counting the votes have ignored court decisions regarding which ballots can be counted.

The board’s legal team suggested the commissioners reject the ballots because the Pennsylvania Supreme Court had given clear guidance about signatures being required for votes to count.

There were approximately 124 ballots that would not count because of missing signatures.

Republican Sen.-elect David McCormick won 48.93% of the vote and Democratic incumbent Bob Casey captured 48.50% of the vote, thus triggering a recount. 

However, as of Wednesday, there are approximately 80,000 left to be counted, including 20,000 mail-in and absentee ballots and around 60,000 provisional ballots. 

Counties must begin their recount on Nov. 20 and have until Nov. 27 to report their results to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. 

Casey, the third-term Senator, has not yet conceded the race. 

Philadelphia City Commissioners also voted to count a “relatively small number of undated and incorrectly dated mail ballots.”

“Republicans filed a petition to the PA Supreme Court against all counties to attempt to stop all counties from counting these ballots,” Philadelphia City Commissioners said in a statement to Fox News. “They also filed a statutory appeal challenging Bucks County’s decision to count undated and incorrectly dated mail ballots. We are reviewing the filings.”

An RNC official told Fox News that the decisions made by the county election boards were “ridiculous.”  The GOP has filed two lawsuits against Bucks County and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to stop the counting of these ballots.

Post-election legal maneuvering is hardly unusual in close races, and most of the time, Republicans do a piss-poor job of fighting against the sophisticated tactics the Democrats and lying scumbags like Marc Elias use to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat.

This year, though, Lara Trump and her crack team were prepared for the fight and won some big battles. In return, Democrats are now defying court decisions openly and on camera.

The Last Straw

On Friday, Fox News reported that Hugh Hewitt has left The Washington Post. Hugh Hewitt is a conservative columnist who has written articles for The Washington Post for the past seven years. Last year he wrote 48 articles for the paper; this year he has written only 7.

The article reports the circumstances of his leaving:

Hewitt quit after a clip of him went viral earlier on Friday when he walked off the Washington Post’s online show, “First Look,” with liberal columnists Jonathan Capehart and Ruth Marcus on its “Washington Post Live” platform. It came during a discussion of former President Trump’s rhetoric around election integrity.

“Does it seem like Donald Trump is laying the groundwork for contesting the election by complaining that cheating was taking place in Pennsylvania?” Capehart asked Marcus. “By suing Bucks County for alleged irregularities, and this is on top of his continual assertion that if he loses, it’s because of cheating.”

Marcus said Trump had been preparing to blame an election loss on cheating for months.

“No election can be fair in Donald Trump’s mind unless Donald Trump wins it,” Marcus said.

As Marcus went on, Hewitt tried to interject, but Capehart snapped, “Let Ruth finish, Hugh.”

“Well, I’ve just got to say, we’re news people, even though it’s the opinion section,” Hewitt said. “It’s got to be reported. Bucks County was reversed by the court and instructed to open up extra days because they violated the law and told people to go home. So that lawsuit was brought by the Republican National Committee, and it was successful. The Supreme Court ruled that Glenn Youngkin was successful.

“We are news people, even though we have opinions, and we have to report the whole story if we bring up part of the story,” Hewitt added. “So, yes, he’s upset about Bucks County, but he was right, and he won in court. That’s the story.”

After a brief pause, Capehart said, “I don’t appreciate being lectured about reporting when, Hugh, many times, you’ve come here saying lots of things that aren’t based in fact.”

Hewitt stood up and said, “I won’t come back, Jonathan. I’m done. I’m done. This is the most unfair election ad I’ve ever been a part of. You guys are working. That’s fine. I’m done.”

That’s how the major media works–by not mentioning that the Republicans had won both court cases, they spun the story to make President Trump look as if he were not justified in filing the lawsuits.

I have followed Hugh Hewitt for years and am glad that he had the integrity to stand up and leave.

Fighting The Fraud Before The Election

On Wednesday, Red State posted an article about one of the legal cases brought by the Republicans to insure that everyone has the opportunity to vote.

The article reports:

The Donald Trump Campaign and the Pennsylvania GOP won a huge victory today in their efforts to force the Bucks County, Pennsylvania, government to permit voters to request mail-in ballots in person.

The campaign filed a lawsuit on Wednesday, documenting how county officials broke state law and turned away voters hours before the deadline (see Trump Campaign Suing Over Voter Suppression in Major Swing State). This was after video surfaced of a police officer and skeevy individuals, some later identified as local Democrat activists, wearing “Voter Protection” badges but with no visible identification credentials shutting down the line at 1:45 p.m. when the law required the line to stay open to 4:30 p.m.

The article concludes:

There is no indication of any interest on the part of the State of Pennsylvania in why a uniformed police officer and seemingly unauthorized persons countermanded Governor Josh Shapiro’s instructions and state law.

This is the second case in Pennsylvania where early voting has been obstructed, and the courts have stepped in to extend voting deadlines.

I hate the idea that from now on all American elections are going to be decided in the courts, but it sure is looking that way. When there is election interference, there needs to be immediate legal intervention, and the people responsible need to pay a serious price for their actions.
