Every six years we vote for someone to be our Senator in Washington to represent us. During the next six years we wonder who they actually represent.
Recently a North Carolina resident wrote letters to Senator Tillis and Senator Budd asking them to confirm President Trump’s cabinet choices. She stated that she felt that President Trump needed his cabinet choices in order to fulfill the promises he has made to “We the people.”
Below is the response from Senator Tillis:
Here is the response from Senator Budd:
The writer of the letter to the Senators explains her reactions to the replies:
I want to return to a national government this is “bound down by the chains of the constitution.” I want a freely functioning free enterprise system where there is competition everywhere and no crony capitalism anywhere. I want the premise that some prerogatives remain with each state and some prerogatives remain with individual people to be honored and respected by all.
I believe Senator Tillis’ approach is correct, and we need to thank him for it, i.e., reward good behavior. We also need to follow up and be sure his votes are as he has indicated they will be.
Senator Budd’s response is a disappointment. He uses all kinds of “weasel words.” To me, that indicates what excuses he will give when his votes are considered. I suspect he’s tuning up to be one of the people for whom Elon Musk finds a primary challenger. What a shame. However, I’ve promised myself I’ll vote for anyone of my ballot proposed by Elon Musk.
I think she has the right idea.
