Standing Up For Patriotism

On Friday, Townhall posted an article about a misguided disciplinary action against some of our National Guard pilots.

The article reports:

Earlier, Townhall reported that several South Carolina National Guard Pilots were suspended after they conducted a flyover at a beach. The eight pilots made the pass during the Salute from the Shore Airshow, celebrating Independence Day.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth caught wind of the disciplinary action and vowed to fix the issue.

Sean Parnell, Assistant to the Secretary of War, posted an update this morning, writing, “Effective immediately, the suspension of all involved South Carolina pilots has been lifted. Carry on, Patriots.”

Lifting the suspension implies that it is okay to be a patriot. I am sure the people on the beach loved the flyover.

The article includes videos of the people on the beach cheering on the pilots. Americans have the right to be patriotic. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just affirmed that right!

This Is Unacceptable

Iran has been at war with America since 1979. President Trump finally decided to answer the call other Presidents have ignored or bribed their way out of answering. America (and Israel) are in the process of returning Iran to the Persians and strongly encouraging Iran to be a positive addition to the nations of the world. The American Democrat party is not interested in any of that–they just want to score political points.

On April 15th, The Hill reported:

House Democrats will introduce five articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday, accusing him of war crimes in connection with the Iran war, abuse of power and mishandling of the Department of Defense (DOD).

Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.), the first Iranian American Democrat in Congress, will introduce the impeachment resolution, Axios reported after it obtained a copy of the resolution.

Notice that the charges were introduced by an Iranian America. Her biography says that she is also a climate activist. It is interesting that in the current Iran, she would not be allowed to serve in the government.

The article notes:

Ansari announced last week that she was filing articles of impeachment, which are almost certain to go nowhere in the GOP-controlled House. She accused Hegseth of being “complicit” in President Trump’s “devastating, illegal war” in Iran.

The first article accuses Hegseth of violating his oath of office in overseeing an “unauthorized war against Iran and reckless endangerment of United States service members.” The resolution goes on to accuse the secretary of war crimes by targeting civilians and breaking the rules of armed conflict, followed by the alleged mishandling of sensitive information.

…The administration pushed back on the claims made in the resolution. Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson said in a statement to The Hill that it was “just another Democrat trying to make headlines as the Department of War decisively and overwhelmingly achieved the President’s objectives in Iran.”

“Secretary Hegseth will continue to protect the homeland and project peace through strength,” Wilson wrote. “This is just another charade in an attempt to distract the American people from the major successes we have had here at the Department of War.”

The actions of Representative Ansari during a time of war are despicable.

Let’s Make The Chaplain Corps Great Again!

On Wednesday, The Daily Signal posted an article about changes Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is planning to make to the Chaplain Corps of America’s military.

The article reports:

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has pledged to toss “New Age notions” in America’s Chaplain Corps and make the military body “great again.”  

“In recent decades, its role has been degraded in an atmosphere of political correctness and secular humanism,” Hegseth said of the Chaplain Corps in video message released Tuesday night.  

“Chaplains have been minimized, viewed by many as therapists instead of ministers,” Hegseth said, adding “faith and virtue were traded for self-help and self-care.”  

…The Chaplain Corps was established in 1775 at the request of George Washington, who at the time was serving as general of the Continental Army. Washington established the corps to meet the spiritual needs of the men.  

“For about 200 years, the chaplain corps continued its role as the spiritual leader of our service members, serving our men and women in times of hardship and ministering to their souls, but sadly, as part of the ongoing war on warriors, in recent decades, its role has been degraded,” Hegseth said.  

The article mentions the current ‘spiritual guide’ (U.S. Army Spiritual Fitness Guide):

The 112-page document mentions “God” only once, does not mention “Jesus” or “virtue,” but does mention “feelings” 11 times and “spiritual” over 350 times.  

“The guide relies on New Age notions, saying that the soldier’s spirit consists of consciousness, creativity and connection,” Hegseth said.  

“The guide itself reports that around 82% of the military are religious, yet ironically, it alienates our war fighters of faith by pushing secular humanism. In short, it’s unacceptable and unserious, so we’re tossing it,” he continued.  

Hegseth has signed a directive to eliminate the use of the Army Spiritual Fitness Guide. The secretary also announced that military is simplifying the U.S. Military’s Faith and Belief Coding System, which is used to track religions and spiritual preferences within the military.  

The system currently has over 200 faith and belief codes, according to Hegseth, who added that the majority of the military uses only six of the codes, and 11 are not used at all.  

The article concludes:

“We are going to make the Chaplain Corps great again,” Hegseth pledged, adding, “Merry Christmas.”

According to artificial intelligence:

  • Approximately 70% of Americans identify as Christians.
  • About 1.9% of the U.S. population identifies as Jewish.

Our Chaplain Corps should reflect those numbers in its faith and belief codes.

What’s In A Name?

The Trump administration is dealing with the problem of drugs coming into America by stopping the shipments close to the source. Essentially that means blowing up the drug boats as they head this way. Recently there was a controversy about a second shot fired at a drug boat as the survivors tried to radio for help to save their cargo. They were stopped mid-transmission (as well they should have been). I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I don’t think a slap on the wrist in the American court system would have any impact–blowing up the boats and the crews has impact. There are, however, some people in our government who see this very differently. Their use of language gymnastics is close to laughable.

On Monday, Townhall reported:

Operation Southern Spear is taking out narco-terrorists in the Caribbean. Democrats have a problem with this, though not any of the terrorists Barack Obama wiped out through drone strikes—500 total during his presidency, and yes, civilians were killed. Americans were on these kill lists. Yet, Democrats and the media are trying to frame this campaign as some illegal war seen out of Tom Clancy’s Clear and Present Danger. It’s not, and these aren’t sailors on a day trip, guys. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) tossed out a new phrase for these narco-terrorists: “shipwrecked survivors.”

This campaign has hilariously been dubbed “boatgate” by the Left, since we blew up a narco boat twice. The first strike killed some terrorists and disabled the craft, while the second wiped out the remaining terrorists. They were trying to signal for assistance. Either way, the strikes will continue as they did last week. Even with ‘boatgate’ becoming a national story, the Pentagon blew up another narco boat. However, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth admitted that fewer narco boats are taking to sea since we’re turning them into ashtrays.

How many people who have lost loved ones due to the drugs being brought into America by these boats are willing to let the boats continue their routes unhindered?

Common Sense Is Slowly Arriving

My Mom, a child of the Depression and a young adult during World War 2, even in the Reagan era, was not a fan of the legacy media, then, pretty much the only media. She didn’t trust them too much, and she was fond of an (apocryphal) quote from WW2, from U.S. Navy Admiral William “Bull” Halsey, who, when asked by an aide what he should tell the press about an upcoming operation, replied, “Tell them nothing. When it’s over, tell them who won.”

That’s how military communications should be carried out. There’s a level of security that should be taken for granted, and that means, in certain cases, such as an ongoing operation, telling the media only what they need to know, when they need to know it.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth gets it. To that end, he has now put an end to the media wandering around the Pentagon, unbadged and unchecked.

We need to remember that when the military invaded the island of Grenada to end the Russian footprint there, the press was not even informed until three hours after the invasion began (source here). Many Americans blamed the press for the loss of the Vietnam war. Certainly, the enemy propaganda the American press blindly repeated did play a role.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has stated:

“The Pentagon press corps can SQUEAL all they want! We’re taking these things seriously.”

“We’re not allowing everybody to roam around the building. You know, that was the policy before. If you were a Pentagon reporter, you could just walk around the building.”

“No badge, no escort, no nothing. Walk into offices, talk to anybody, who knows where there’s classified information. We’re making the rules more like you might say the White House.”

“If you want to move around the building, you’re going to have a badge. It’s going to be clear. You’re going to be escorted when you do so. And we have expectation that you’re not soliciting classified or sensitive information.”

“The American people see things like that as absolute common sense.”

I think the Secretary of War is acting like a Secretary of War.
