Normally our military SEAL teams are a rather quiet group. They don’t say much about who they are or what they do. However, when the story of one of their missions is inaccurately told, occasionally they speak out. Well, one did.
Yesterday the Daily Caller posted a story about the account of the killing of Osama Bin Laden as told by one of the SEALs involved.
The article reports:
“It became obvious in the weeks evolving after the mission that the story that was getting put out there was not only untrue, but it was a really ugly farce of what did happen,” said Chuck Pfarrer, author of Seal Target Geronimo: The Inside Story of the Mission to Kill Osama Bin Laden.
Two major discrepancies cited in the article:
1. The helicopter did not crash land. It went down later on–after the killing of Bin Laden.
2. Bin Laden was not unarmed–he was reaching for the AKSU rifle he kept by the headboard.
These are important details. It makes you wonder how much of the accounts of various events the White House relates is accurate.
