The Crime Prevention Research Center has released a report showing the impact of armed citizens on attempted mass shootings. The figures cited at The Crime Prevention Research Center are very different from the figures released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The numbers were recently posted on Facebook:
Obviously, an armed citizen would have made a difference in Australia, which has very strict gun laws that discourage citizens from owning guns, and an armed citizen would have made a difference at Brown University, which is a gun-free zone. We see how well that worked out.
The problem is not the gun. Rob Reiner and his wife were killed by a mentally unbalanced son who used a knife. Some of the Christmas market attackers in Europe used vehicles to run people over. The problem is with the person, not the weapon of choice. Gun-free zones only make things safer for the attacker–not the victim.
