Will This Impact The Midterm Elections?

The government has been partially shut down for about a month now. The place that shutdown has been very obvious and very detrimental to traveling Americans is at airport security lines. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is currently working without pay as is the Department of Homeland Security which oversees the TSA. It’s not a good idea to have an unfunded Department of Homeland Security during a war with a country that has a reputation for terrorism.

On Sunday, Red State reported:

The partial Shutdown of the government has now been going on for almost a month as Democrats refuse to budge on their demands for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reforms. Although ICE is fully funded due to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, other departments like the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are not, leaving the nation at risk of attack and creating travel nightmares at the airports.

On Sunday, Airlines for America posted the following on X:

I realize the fine print is hard to read, but basically the letter representing the largest U.S. passenger and cargo carriers stresses the importance of paying federal aviation workers, including TSA officers, U.S. Customs clearance officers and air traffic controllers, during government shutdowns.

The article notes:

Although the Democrats are trying to paint the partial shutdown as a cause of Republican intransigence, the fault lies squarely at their feet. With their not ready for prime time demands, they’re acting like they won the House, the Senate, and the Oval Office in 2024 — but they lost all three.

As former President Barack Obama snottily told GOP lawmakers in 2009, soon after taking office, “elections have consequences.” Instead of remembering that maxim, the Dems are acting like children who didn’t get their way and took the ball home. It would just be political theater, but in this case, it’s directly endangering Americans, as we’ve experienced multiple terror attacks since U.S. operations against Iran commenced.

To kneecap the Department of Homeland Security at this time over disputes about one specific department is a dereliction of duty.

The CEOs continued, saying that this kind of gamesmanship should never occur again when it comes to air travel…

The GOP should remind voters of the Democrats’ shenanigans every single day until November 3.

I agree.

I Really Don’t Like The Sound Of This

The coronavirus has seriously eroded a lot of the God-given rights protected by the U.S. Constitution. There are some real questions as to whether or not we will ever get those rights back or whether we will simply continue on the downward slope we are on. I am sure I am not the only grandparent who has not be able to see my grandchildren for more than a year. When did America start restricting the travel of Americans? When did America close schools despite scientific evidence that schools were not spreaders of the coronavirus? Unfortunately, the encroachment of our liberties is about to get worse.

Just the News reported yesterday that a top travel industry association is the final stages of developing a digital passport for international travelers so they can prove they’ve been vaccinated for COVID-19. Will America soon require some sort of proof of vaccination to board an airplane for a domestic flight?

The article reports:

Airlines for America, a trade association that represents major carriers, also has not declared that flyers will need proof of a vaccine before flying, saying U.S. airlines are “committed to restoring service in a manner that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and employees.”

But CEO Alan Joyce of Qantas Airlines, an Australian carrier, said last week that once the vaccine is made available, proof will become standard practice around the world.

“We are looking at changing our terms and conditions to say for international travelers that we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft,” Joyce told The New York Times.

The Australian government has said that coronavirus vaccines will be “as mandatory as you can possibly make it.”

Pfizer Pharmaceuticals said on Nov. 9 that results from its most recent human trials on its coronavirus vaccine show it is more than 95% effective. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said that once his company’s vaccine is approved by the Food and Drug Administration, it will be shipped quickly to locations in the U.S.

I hate to be cynical here, but I am extremely suspicious of any vaccine that the government requires you to take, and I predict that the government will attempt to make it a requirement for Americans to take the vaccine.
