When The Spin Does Not Line Up With The Facts

We have all recently heard many of our politicians claim that America is a ‘systemically racist country’ and that the police kill African-Americans at a much higher rate than they kill white Americans. There are a number of statistics that prove both of those claims false.

First of all, if America is systemically racist, why do we have many African-Americans in leadership positions?  The United States Congress includes 57 African-American Representatives and 3 African-American Senators. The states include 7 Lieutenant Governors, 6 Attorneys General, and 3 Secretaries of State who are African-Americans. More than one-third of America’s top 100 cities is governed by an African-American. America elected an African-American President twice. We currently have a bi-racial Vice-President. Many of our military leaders have been African-American–Colin Powell, Allen West. Many African-Americans have served in cabinet-level posts in our government since 1966. Many of our major cities have diverse police forces with various races represented and in charge. If we are systemically racist, we are not doing a very good job of it.

But what about police targeting black people? Yesterday Trending Politics posted some very interesting graphs.

The graph above shows the perception (created by the media).

The article  notes:

The bars are color-coded to reflect the estimation in each political ideology category. Very Liberal respondents were the furthest from reality: 14.29% said ‘about 10,000’ unarmed black males were killed by police, while 31.43% said ‘about 1,000.’ Liberals were slightly closer at 6.67% saying ‘about 10,000’ and 26.67% saying ‘about 1,000.’ According to the database at Mapping Police Violence, this number was actually 27.

The article also includes a chart of arrests sorted by race:

As you can see, the media is creating a false narrative.

The article concludes:

Amidst a rising “epidemic” of violent crime, the radical left wants to slash police funding. Many cities are already paying the price. Portland cut police funding and saw a startling 2,000% surge in murders. New York City, under Mayor de Blasio, reduced police funding and experienced a 127% increase in shootings. Minneapolis cut police funding by $8 million, while early 2021 crime data show a 250% spike in gunshot victims. In February, the Minneapolis city council backtracked and unanimously approved a $6.4 million boost in police funding.

“Initial data from the FBI and major cities across the U.S. suggests homicides increased by about 30% in 2020, and murder rates remained high into early 2021,” ABC reported. “Many cities that slashed police resources last year because of the protests, the pandemic, or both have poured money back into law enforcement to cope with a sudden surge of violence.”

There is no “epidemic” of police shooting unarmed black men in the United States. But there is an “epidemic” of ignorance and an unwillingness to check basic facts. This ignorance is leading Americans to adopt disastrous policies, such as ‘defunding the police.’

There is an element in our media and among some elected officials that would like to ‘reset’ our country into an image where they have more power and average people have no power. One way to do this is to disrupt totally the current paradigm. That is the reason the reporting and actual numbers are so out of sync. All Americans need to do their own research before believing anything they are told!

When Americans Won’t Vote For You, Simply Import New Americans

Yesterday Trending Politics posted an article about how the Biden administration is handling to flood of illegal immigrants currently pouring into America. The crisis at the border is rapidly spreading to all areas of the country. There is no way the number of people crossing into our country illegally are going to remain in one small area.

The article reports:

Biden’s border crisis is spreading nationwide, according to a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies. The new administration is pursuing an immigration policy dubbed “catch-and-bus” with the aim of establishing undocumented immigrants in states in the interior of the United States.

The Biden “smuggling routes” have gone largely unreported by media outlets that are fixated on the disastrous border crisis, where children are being kept in unsanitary conditions within detention facilities that violate COVID protocols.

According to an original investigation by CIS, a veritable “conveyor belt” of busesfrom Texas, Arizona and California are transporting “thousands” of undocumented immigrants into America’s heartland.

…“As best as the Center for Immigration Studies can determine from interviews and scattered media reporting, the buses are leaving regularly from Del Rio, the Texas Rio Grande Valley communities, and Laredo, but the busing also appears to be going on in Arizona, as well as in California,” the report continued.

“Where are the buses going?” the CIS rhetorically asked. “They often drop their Haitian, Venezuelan, and Cuban passengers in Florida and New Jersey. Those from Nicaragua and other Central American nations have been delivered to Tennessee, Massachusetts, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and to large cities in Texas such as Dallas and Houston.”

The estimates square with other Border Patrol estimates, The Blaze corroborates.

The article concludes:

“One Nicaraguan migrant showed CIS a DHS document titled ‘Interim Notice Authorizing Parole’, which grants him a renewable one-year term to live legally inside the country,” the report went on, adding, “Most will likely use their time to apply for asylum, a lengthy, back-logged process that allows for work authorization and Social Security cards during an adjudication process that can drag on for years.”

The Biden “catch-and-bus” policy is an escalation of the Democratic Party’s open borders policy. Even if a state is not on the southern border, an illegal migrant can walk across it and get a free bus ride from the Biden administration to any place it chooses.

Has anyone given any thought to the people who have been waiting in line to come to America legally? Admittedly our immigration policies need to change to eliminate a lot of the expense and red tape, but open borders are not the answer!

Let’s project this a year or two down the road. The people who came here illegally are given a renewable one-year term to live in America. Some of the immigrants will renew; others will simply vanish somewhere inside the country. Eventually a Democrat congressman will say that like the dreamers, they have been here long enough so that they should automatically be given citizenship. At that point they should be allowed to vote. Voila! You have changed to voting demographic of America. Do you think the Democrats would close the borders if they thought the people coming across would eventually become Republican voters?

Fighting Back

Yesterday Trending Politics reported that 13 states are suing the Biden administration because of the clause in the Covid Relief Bill that prevents states from lowering taxes if they receive aid.

The article quotes The Daily Caller:

The Daily Caller reports: “The 13-state coalition argued that the provision included in the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package preventing states from cutting taxes if they accept relief from the federal government is unconstitutional. The coalition, led by Republican West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, filed the federal lawsuit Wednesday evening in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.”

In a statement released on Wednesday, Morrisey said, “Never before has the federal government attempted such a complete takeover of state finances. We cannot stand for such overreach.”

…The lawsuit explains that the tax provision is “one of the most egregious power grabs” in U.S. history, adding that the Tenth Amendment doesn’t allow the federal government to stretch their authority like the Biden Administration is doing.

The lawsuit is needed. The provision in the bill is definitely government overreach.

An Interesting Perspective

Yesterday Trending Politics posted an article showing a series of Tweets by former NY Times reporter Alex Berenson. Recently Alex Berenson is known for challenging the fear-based mainstream coronavirus narratives. His observations on the current election are interesting.

Here is a summary of the Tweets. If you follow the link above to the article, you can see the original Tweets:

Look, I don’t know if President Trump wins or not – the polls say one thing and the rallies say something else, and it feels like it’s going to be close either way – but this is already the most serious populist repudiation of elite opinion since at least Andrew Jackson.

Remember, in 2016 the elites thought Trump was a joke. They didn’t think he could possibly win and they treated the election that way. This time they are treating him as a deadly threat, and practically EVERY center of gravity in the United States is aligned against him.

Not just conventional media and Hollywood and the social sciences, as in 2016, but big technology companies/social media, non-profits, the physical sciences and medicine, which have been relatively non-partisan, and most shockingly much of the national security community.

And yet, despite all of this, and despite the efforts to frame the Coronavirus as an end-of-days plague, and despite now running at a big fundraising deficit to Uncle Joe (as he did to Hillary Clinton) Trump is clearly in striking distance. People are FED UP.

That pretty much sums it up!

A Disturbing Campaign Ad

Yesterday Trending Politics posted an article about a campaign ad put out by the Biden campaign.

The article quotes the ad:

“America was an idea, we hold these truths to be self-evident, we’ve never lived up to it, but we’ve never walked away from it before. And I think we just have to be more honest with our kids know as we raise them, what actually did happen. Acknowledge our mistakes,” Biden says in his ad.

Really. Did we live up to it when we stormed the beaches of France to stop a genocide? Did we live up to it when we fought a Civil War to end slavery in America? Did we live up to it when we ended segregation in America and fought to give equal rights to all Americans?

It is sad that a person running for the highest office in the land has this perspective. It is even sadder than many Americans share his view.

We are not perfect, but we are ‘the last best hope’ for freedom that the world has. It’s time to celebrate that. We should work on our faults, but not be defined by them.
