Does Anyone Believe Anything President Obama Says?

We are at a sad point in America. American presidents have always been accused of stretching the truth beyond belief, but with President Obama and ObamaCare we have reached a level of boldface lies that I believe is unique.

On Friday, Investor’s Business Daily posted a story listing President Obama’s latest lies about ObamaCare.  Just as truth is one of the first casualties of war, it is also one of the first casualties of upcoming elections. Many Democrat congressmen will be running for reelection next year and are genuinely worried about the impact of ObamaCare on their campaigns. Thus we have creative facts about ObamaCare flowing from the White House.

The article reports:

In late November, for example, Obama complained that “instead of rooting for failure, or refighting old battles, Republicans in Congress need to work with us to improve those things about the Affordable Care Act that aren’t working as well as they should.”

Obama’s attempt to escape responsibility for the failure of his signature domestic achievement isn’t surprising. But in this case, he’s falsifying the record.

The list of positive changes to ObamaCare passed by Republicans and Democrats and signed by the President includes the repeal of a tax reporting scheme requiring business to list all payments exceeding $600 a year to any vendor (that amount is so small it could include buying flowers for the office staff on Administrative Assistant‘s Day). The Republicans also removed a long-term care provision that was unworkable and another provision involving a “free-choice voucher” program. Generally speaking, the Republicans are not the problem–ObamaCare is. However, look for more attempted blame shifting during the coming year.

The article reminds us of the cost of ObamaCare and how the President is claiming that it will reduce the cost of healthcare:

…the rate of growth in national health spending has slowed in recent years. It was just 3.9% in 2009, 2010 and 2011. And employer premium growth had been on the downtrend.

But these have nothing to do with ObamaCare. The latest report from the chief actuary of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services — the official scorekeeper of health spending — says the spending growth slowdown is “unrelated to the (Affordable Care Act).”

It also reports that ObamaCare will add to national spending over the next decade. Other reports have pinned much of the slowdown on the recession and Obama’s lousy recovery that followed it. Plus, ObamaCare is now pushing premiums up.

As Charles Blahous, a former trustee for Social Security and Medicare, puts it, Obama’s latest cost-cutting claims “are just as groundless as the ones that misled so many Americans to believe they would be able to keep their previous coverage.”

At this point in time, the only way to fight these lies is with the ballot box. Americans need to vote against anyone who supports ObamaCare. That is the only way we will get rid of this horrendous program.

What Brand Of Negotiating Is This?

On Saturday, Breitbart.com reported that as part of the secret talks that took place before the agreement with Iran on its nuclear program, the United States released two Iranian scientists that were in prison in America. One of those scientists, Mojtaba Atarodi, had been arrested in 2011 for attempting to acquire equipment that could be used for Iran’s military-nuclear programs.

It is also reported that hikers Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer, and Josh Fattal were released in 2010 and 2011 as part of those negotiations. In 2012 the United States released Iranian prisoners Shahrzad Mir Gholikhan, Nosratollah Tajik, and Amir Hossein Seirafi. All three of these men had been charged with either weapons trafficking, purchasing illegal military equipment, or purchasing items to be used in Iran’s nuclear program.

Meanwhile, Americans Robert Levinson, Amir Hekmati, and Saeed Abedini remain imprisoned in Iran. Negotiating with the Iranian thugs is not the answer. I hope Congress passes tighter sanctions and totally cripples the Iranian economy. That will give the Iranians who support freedom the opportunity to overthrow the Iranian government. Please understand that the Iranian government is at the root of the majority of the unrest in the Middle East. That is why an alliance between Israel and Saudi Arabia is forming to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and a delivery system. We have been fighting Iran indirectly since the Iranian revolution–they have supplied weapons to Taliban troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan and are a major player in Syria.

The current Iranian government is not merely a threat to Israel–it is a threat to America and the entire world. The goal of the current Iranian government has not changed–that goal is the establishment of a world-wide caliphate under Sharia law. Another part of the philosophy of the current Iranian regime is that world chaos will usher in the return of the Mahdi. The Mahdi died in 874 and is believed to be living at the bottom of a well in Iran. The Iranian leaders believe that if they cause enough chaos he will return. These are the people we are negotiating with.

A Total Misuse Of The Law

The American legal system has become so complex that someone with no respect for the law and the idea of getting something for nothing can use that complexity to his advantage. It costs a lot of money to pursue a case in court, and there are those among us who routinely take advantage of that fact.  An article posted in yesterday’s New York Daily News illustrates that point.

A family in Springfield, Ohio, was visiting a dying relative in another state. When they returned home, they found that someone had moved into their house, changed the locks, and filed legal papers claiming ownership of the house.

The family that actually owns the house will now have to go through a court battle to get their house back. The sad part of this is that the man who stole their house has done this a number of times before and has actually taken possession of a number of houses in this way.

One of the foundations of our society is private property rights. If we as a society are not careful to guard those rights, our society will fall into anarchy. Hopefully this man will be charged to the fullest extent of the law, and the idea of taking over other people’s houses without paying for them will become less attractive.

A Liberal Wakes Up

Arnold S. Trebach was a protester and a federal civil rights official during the original civil rights movement. He is a currently professor emeritus of public affairs at American University and a member of the Maryland State Advisory Committee to the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights. He is a self-proclaimed liberal.

Mr. Trebach posted an article at PJ Media yesterday entitled, “Vote Republican–and Save the Country.” Wow.

The article states:

…I am also suggesting that for the next two elections, all good people should consider voting a straight Republican ticket as a protest against the massive political sins of the Democrats. If enough voters did that, in addition to saving the country it might also save the Democratic Party from itself.

My old party has lost its soul and integrity in recent years, especially during the Obama era. It needs a crushing electoral defeat to focus its attention on its dangerous behavior.  Despite the terrible recent record of my old party and of Mr. Obama, they are master politicians and it is quite possible that they will recover and win the next two elections, unless there is a concerted effort by voters of all stripes — Republican, independent, and, yes, Democratic — to make a public commitment in advance that they will vote straight Republican tickets in 2014 and in 2016.

His comments on the changes in the Democrat party are similar to those Zell Miller made in his 2003 book, A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative Democrat. The Democrat party has moved so far to the left that it does not represent the majority of the people who have historically supported it.

Please follow the link above to read the comments of Iran and ObamaCare. Mr. Trebach is a liberal who sees the damage to America the Obama Administration has done and would like to put a stop to that damage.

The article concludes:

Add to this continuing disaster the Obama-Holder misbehavior in the Martin-Zimmerman matter, their failure to deal with black crime and the knockout attacks, the New Black Panther failure, the Fast and Furious gun-running affair, the IRS actions against conservative tax payers, and many other scandals.

And yet as I have said, I believe that Obama and Holder and the Democratic Party are such brilliant and unethical politicians that despite these scandals the odds are that they will prevail at the voting booth again and again — unless the American people take to the voting booths in concerted and open outrage.

As someone who left the Democrat party after Jimmy Carter, I thoroughly understand what this man is saying.
