The One Percent Solution

According to Thomas.gov (the Library of Congress Website), one of the things our House of Representatives discussed yesterday was House Congressional Resolution 63.  This resolution states that the United States government should provide, on an annual basis, an amount equal to at least 1 percent of United States gross domestic product (GDP) for nonmilitary foreign assistance programs.   The measure has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

As our spending reels out of control and we have deficits are far as the eye can see, Congress decides that we should be legally required to give money away to foreign countries.  The ‘war on poverty’ in this country has not worked, why are we exporting it?
