Living in Massachusetts as a conservative can be lonely, but there are a few conservatives here. One of them, Holly Robichaud, posted an article at the Boston Herald today on the fact that Massachusetts Senator John Kerry has been appointed to the debt reduction committee.
Ms. Robichaud points out:
“…Anchors Aweigh Kerry has only a 3 percent rating with Citizens Against Government Waste and an overwhelming propensity for raising taxes earning him a 6 percent rating with the National Taxpayer Unions…”
She suggests some common sense ideas to help deal with the deficit. Those ideas include such things as letting liberals lead by example by paying more taxes. Massachusetts tax forms do have a box residents can check off allowing them to pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes. She also suggests repealing Obamacare. That is a great idea since the cost of Obamacare seems to be rising almost daily as more information is revealed about what the plan involves. She suggests eliminating the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The role they have played in attempting to prevent Boeing from opening a manufacturing facility in South Carolina is a disgrace. She suggests that we abolish the czars. They were not constitutional to begin with. Ms. Robichaud also states that she does not want to see the tax deduction for home mortgages taken away. Setting a limit of $500,000 on the price of a home in order to claim a mortgage tax deduction does not take into account either inflation or the cost of living is California or the northeast.
There are a number of other suggestions in the article. It is a common sense article that mentions a number of foolish ways the government spends tax money. The time has come to give the government less tax money to spend.
