The Chicago Sun Times is reporting today on the opening remarks made by defense lawyer Sam Adam Jr. during the trial of Rod Blagojevich, who is charged with scheming to sell or trade President Obama's US Senate seat.
Attorney Adams attempted to make the case that Mr. Blagojevich was "an insecure but honest politician who unwittingly got himself in this mess by trusting the wrong people." This is going to be an interesting trial. There is a real chance here that a lot of the ugly underside of Chicago politics will be revealed in this trial. Evidently there are many hours of wiretapped conversations that may be played in the course of the trial. It will be very informative to see who was making deals and what those deals were.
Rod Blagojevich is expected to take the stand as a witness during his trial. Get out the popcorn, this is going to be very entertaining.
