{"id":898,"date":"2009-06-10T20:40:32","date_gmt":"2009-06-10T20:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=898"},"modified":"2009-06-10T20:40:32","modified_gmt":"2009-06-10T20:40:32","slug":"armtwisting_for_the_uighurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=898","title":{"rendered":"Armtwisting For The Uighurs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/news\/2009\/jun\/10\/palau-take-guantanamos-chinese-detainees\/\">Washington Times<\/a>&nbsp;today, Palau (one of a handful of countries that does not recognize China and maintains diplomatic relations with Taiwan) agreed to accept the17 Uighurs that have been housed in Guantanamo since being captured in a terrorist training camp in Afghanistan.&nbsp; Palau is a former U.S. trust&nbsp;territory in the Pacific that became independent in 1994 when it signed a Free Compact of Association with the U.S.&nbsp; While it is independent, it relies heavily on U.S. aid and is dependent on the United States for its defense.
