{"id":773,"date":"2009-04-28T06:57:41","date_gmt":"2009-04-28T06:57:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=773"},"modified":"2009-04-28T06:57:41","modified_gmt":"2009-04-28T06:57:41","slug":"how_to_push_through_health_car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=773","title":{"rendered":"How To Push Through Health Care Without An Honest Debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/seven\/04282009\/postopinion\/editorials\/bams_health_care_dodge_166541.htm\">New York Post<\/a>&nbsp;has a great editorial on the upcoming battle for universal government health care.&nbsp; The White House and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are planning to block debate on health care reform by using &#8216;reconciliation&#8217;, which would mean that rather than needing 60 votes to pass (avoid a filibuster), the legislation could pass with 51 votes.&nbsp; Since the Democrats have 58 Senate seats, that shouldn&#8217;t be a problem.&nbsp; According to the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\">\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8216;Reconciliation&#8217; is a parliamentary device originally intended to limit Senate debate over the budget.
