I think that there are a number of people in the Democrat party that are feeling that way right now. The Democrat Socialists of America may have created new life in the Democrat party and enlarged the party tent, but at what price?

In his newsletter of April 22, 2026, Alan Dershowitz stated:

Until the Democrat’s gain their sanity, I will do everything in my power to try to prevent the current Democratic party from taking control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency.

And I will choose to join the Republican Party because today it stands strong on some of the gravest issues facing America and the world.

Other prominent Democrats have also expressed alarm at the severe left turn the Democrat party has taken in the past two years.

On Monday, Ed Morrissey posted an article at Hot Air about the Michigan election.

The article reports:

With 15 days to go before Election Day, RealClearPolling still shows El-Sayed ahead of Mike Rogers, but only by 2.6 points in their aggregate average. Is this accurate? Perhaps, but someone will have to explain how El-Sayed can be out in front while leaders of his own party are telling Democrats to leave that race blank on the ballot. David Kramer and Lon Johnson pitched abstention in a column at the Detroit News this weekend:

Supporting a nominee after a hard-fought primary is an act of party unity, not a surrender of principle. Democrats asked to set aside their differences for U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed had every right to expect something in return: a commitment to earn their trust, address legitimate concerns and unite a party whose nomination he won with less than 50% of the vote.

He has failed that test. As a result, we will not vote for Abdul El-Sayed. Some may then conclude we, or other loyal Democrats, need to vote for a different party, but for many of us, leaving the ballot blank is an act of dignity.

Party unity does not require silence, and no nomination entitles anyone to our votes.

I am not sure you can win when your local paper, known for supporting candidates in your party, does not support you.

One of the interesting plot twists in the story of Frankenstein is that the mad scientist was able to create life, but after he created it, he couldn’t control it.
