One of the challenges for voters in any election cycle is to sort out the truth from the \u2018spin.\u2019 Since we seem to be in a never-ending election cycle right now, that is becoming a\u00a0full-time job. I like Fox News. That\u2019s probably not a surprise to anyone who reads this website regularly, but I occasionally have my problems with their\u00a0reporting\u00a0as well as everyone else\u2019s. However, yesterday morning I was cheering Chris Wallace for the questions he asked David Plouffe. The transcript of the\u00a0interview\u00a0can be found at the Fox News Sunday website<\/a><\/p>\n

The discussion was about President Obama\u2019s deficit reduction plan.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0interview\u00a0David Plouffe stated:<\/p>\n

...But absent tax reform, the president believe the right way to get our fiscal house in order is ask the wealthy to pay their fair\u00a0share. But he is going to continue, as he has throughout his presidency, push to\u00a0cut taxes\u00a0for the middle class folks so that they obviously can weather this economy turn better, but also allows them to help the economy by being able to consume more.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Chris Wallace replied:<\/p>\n

\u00a0But, Mr. Plouffe, what you are talking about $200 billion\u00a0in tax\u00a0cuts that end in the next 15 months. You\u2019re talking about $2 trillion\u00a0in tax\u00a0increases that will go on for next decade. Between his jobs plan \u2014 and I want to break this down because it\u2019s important \u2014 between his jobs plan and cutting the deficit, the president wants $1.5 trillion in\u00a0new taxes\u00a0over the next decade.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s put it up on the screen \u2014 letting the\u00a0Bush\u00a0tax cuts for the wealthy expire, $866 billion; limiting the deductions for families making $250,000 a year, $410 billion; closing loopholes\u00a0and tax\u00a0breaks, $300 billion. And on top of that \u2014 on top of that, $1.5 trillion, another $500 billion in\u00a0new taxes\u00a0to pay for Obamacare, for a total of $2 trillion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are the facts that need to be repeated as the President claims that he is planning to raise taxes ONLY on the \u2018rich.\u2019<\/p>\n

Chris Wallace also pointed out in the\u00a0interview:<\/p>\n

\u2026$1 trillion of the $1 trillion in deficit reduction the president calls for in his plan is for not continuing to fight the wars in Iran and Afghanistan. The president is cutting\u00a0money\u00a0that wasn\u2019t going to be spent anyway, instead of cutting of\u00a0money\u00a0that was.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President\u2019s jobs bill is all smoke and\u00a0mirrors. It needs to be soundly defeated in Congress.<\/p>\n
