{"id":64669,"date":"2026-07-14T14:06:58","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T18:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=64669"},"modified":"2026-07-14T14:06:58","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T18:06:58","slug":"someone-needs-to-do-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=64669","title":{"rendered":"Someone Needs To Do This"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5965639-trump-reinstates-naval-blockade-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> posted an article reporting that President Trump announced that America will be taking steps to insure the security of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span class=\"person-popover\" data-nid=\"2086\"><a class=\"person-popover__link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\"><strong>President Trump <\/strong><\/a><\/span><strong>said Monday that the U.S.\u2019s naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz will be reinstated as Washington and Tehran <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/5965278-us-iran-strait-hormuz-claims\/\">fight for control<\/a> of the crucial waterway after strikes were exchanged over the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe Hormuz Strait is OPEN, and will remain OPEN, with or without Iran,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116913091653271692\">Trump wrote<\/a> on Truth Social. \u201cWe are reinstating the THE IRANIAN BLOCKADE, so named because it is only stopping Iran\u2019s ships or customers from entering or leaving.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cAll other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait,\u201d he said, adding that the U.S. will be known as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5965399-donald-trump-guardian-strait-hormuz\/\">the Guardian of the Hormuz Strait<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Trump said the U.S. will be \u201creimbursed\u201d 20 percent on all cargo shipped \u201cas a matter of FAIRNESS\u201d for the security needed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe U.S.A. will be, from this point forward, known as \u2018THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,\u2019 but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the World,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe process and formation will begin immediately.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If our military is guarding the Strait and making the use of it available to other countries, we need to be compensated. Hopefully we will see regime change in Iran at some point and will no longer need American forces to protect the Strait.<\/p>\n<p>The article notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Iran, for its part, has pushed back, saying the strait is theirs and they \u201cwill not allow a rogue and child-killing army from the other side of the world to continue its illegal interference in it,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-us-hormuz-strait-war-july-13-2026-6c2c44cfdd089d6393d18fa5930ed620\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/factually.co\/fact-checks\/military\/strait-of-hormuz-international-waters-status-0d1111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">factually.co<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), waterways used for international navigation where no reasonable alternative exists are classified as &#8220;international straits&#8221; and are subject to transit passage, which prioritizes uninterrupted navigation and limits coastal-state control <sup><a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/strait-of-hormuz-why-the-us-and-iran-are-sailing-in-very-different-legal-waters-280557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[3]<\/a><\/sup><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/enotrans.org\/article\/the-legal-question-of-tolling-hormuz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[5]<\/a><\/sup>. Many legal scholars and Western governments treat Hormuz as such an international strait and therefore argue transit passage applies as a matter of customary international law and UNCLOS interpretation <sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lawfaremedia.org\/article\/the-strait-of-hormuz-and-the-limits-of-maritime-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[7]<\/a><\/sup><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/135899\/strait-hormuz-tolls-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[8]<\/a><\/sup>. Iran, however, asserts broader rights within its territorial sea and has claimed the ability to suspend passage or regulate traffic, invoking older legal doctrines and the fact that it has not ratified UNCLOS\u2014an argument that complicates treaty-based enforcement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is obviously in the interests of most of the world to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
