On Monday, The San Antonio Current<\/a> posted an article featuring quotes from Texas congressional candidate Maureen Galindo.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Controversy-tarred<\/strong><\/a> congressional candidate Maureen Galindo this week pledged to transform a site south of San Antonio now used by the Trump administration to detain migrants into an internment camp for \u201cAmerican Zionists.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019ll turn Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers for human trafficking,\u201d Galindo wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend<\/a>, referring to herself in the third person. \u201cIt will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

…Over the past week, Galindo has accused her runoff opponent \u2014 former Bexar County Public Information Officer Johnny Garcia \u2014 of participating in a human trafficking conspiracy <\/a>orchestrated by billionaire zionist Jews. She also pledged during a Texas Public Radio interview to put Garcia on trial <\/a>for treason.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beyond her attacks on Garcia, Galindo has continued to promote the narrative that a cabal of Jewish zionists controls Hollywood, the media and even local politicians.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even so, in comments to the Current and other media outlets, Galindo maintained she only has an issue with zionists, or those advocating for the existence of a Jewish state in their ancestral homeland, rather than Jews in general.<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Lira, who lost to Galindo in the primary, last week rescinded his endorsement of her. Meanwhile, State Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for Texas\u2019 contested U.S. Senate seat, on Friday told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency<\/a> that he wouldn\u2019t campaign alongside Galindo \u2014\u00a0even if she wins her runoff.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis antisemitic rhetoric has no place in our politics,\u201d Talarico told the publication. \u201cWe need leadership in both parties willing to stand up and call out hate where it rears its ugly head.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
