On Tuesday, Just the News<\/a>, reported the following:<\/p>\n

Analysts inside the U.S. intelligence community sought to conceal evidence of Chinese influence efforts from President Donald Trump during the 2020 election, with analysts saying they didn\u2019t want their intel used by \u201cthat vulgarian in the Oval Office\u201d to pursue policies toward China they personally disagreed with.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The revelation is found within a January 2021 report written by \u2014 and never before reported upon comments by \u2014 analytic ombudsman Barry Zulauf, who conducted a\u00a0review<\/a> of the spy community\u2019s handling of Russian versus Chinese meddling efforts during the 2020 election. Among his conclusions was that intelligence analysts downplayed China\u2019s actions because they had disdain for the \u201cvulgarian\u201d Trump and did not want to support the policies and priorities of the Trump administration toward China with which they \u201cpersonally disagree.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just the News<\/em>\u00a0reported<\/a> this week that the U.S. intelligence community has known since early 2020 that Beijing also gained access to American voter registration data and used that information to conduct opinion analysis related to the presidential election between Trump and then-former Vice President Joe Biden.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is totally unacceptable behavior. They were hired to do a job–inform the President of terrorist threats and activities–not to act on their own political views.<\/p>\n

The article notes:<\/p>\n

The Justice Department, FBI, DHS, and CISA put out a\u00a0\u201cjoint report\u201d<\/a> in March 2021 which argued there was \u201cno evidence that any foreign government-affiliated actor manipulated election results or otherwise compromised the integrity of the 2020 federal elections.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report downplayed or dismissed the impact that Chinese meddling may have had.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe identified several incidents when Russian, Chinese, and Iranian government-affiliated actors materially impacted the security of networks associated with or pertaining to U.S. political organizations, candidates, and campaigns during 2020 federal elections,\u201d the joint report said. \u201cIn most cases, the IC has assessed that it is unclear if those actors sought these accesses to inform broader foreign policy interests or election-specific operations. Several such actors gathered at least some information they could have released in influence operations, but ultimately we did not see any such materials deployed, modified, or destroyed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
