{"id":62464,"date":"2026-01-16T11:09:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T16:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=62464"},"modified":"2026-01-16T11:09:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T16:09:10","slug":"good-news-on-the-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=62464","title":{"rendered":"Good News On The Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trumps-economy-just-took-wrecking-ball-bidens-mom-work-3-jobs-nightmare\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPWE9VleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEecSUVRteZjuQbLi1Hc0rOBciV-aHQ7v6apkrYKobqxIJT9X2sNIMxIiWIMdM_aem_OCrEs8kXt6NjTC4bnsea0Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Western Journal<\/a> posted an article about the December jobs numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The top economist at the Heritage Foundation made a compelling case for why President Donald Trump\u2019s jobs numbers are better than the headline figure indicates.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Bureau of Labor Statistics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> last week that a total of 50,000 jobs were added to the economy in December. That\u2019s a holding-steady number. Given the country\u2019s population, it takes upward of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/livecoverage\/fed-meeting-powell-rate-cut-2025-decision\/card\/just-how-many-jobs-does-the-u-s-have-to-add-each-month-to-keep-the-unemployment-rate-low-powell-has-a-surprising-answer--JXPAFiJCA063Rgr0XwVO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">50,000 new jobs<\/a> to keep the unemployment rate about constant.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Such was true last month when the unemployment rate dropped slightly, by 0.1 percent to 4.4 percent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Heritage Foundation\u2019s chief economist, E.J. Antoni, pointed out in a piece for <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/ej-antoni\/2026\/01\/12\/talking-heads-are-missing-labor-market-strength-n2669304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Townhall.com<\/a> that if you look a little deeper at U.S. employment, there\u2019s some very encouraging information, especially for those holding down multiple jobs to make ends meet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>He highlighted the discrepancy between the 50,000 news jobs figure and the survey of households\u2019 total, finding that the number of people employed in the country jumped by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/01\/09\/jobs-report-december-2025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">232,000<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThere\u2019s an explanation for this difference if we dig further into the report, and it indicates a very positive development in the labor market,\u201d Antoni argued.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe number of multiple jobholders plunged by 444,000 last month, the second-largest drop since the government-imposed Covid lockdowns. Simultaneously in December, the number of part-time jobs declined by 740,000 while full-time employment shot up by 890,000,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>But, Antoni noted, \u201cAll the net job growth in 2025 came from the productive private sector, while government jobs declined, due entirely to federal layoffs. It\u2019s a positive development, but it drags down the headline jobs number.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The BLS reported that federal employment is down 277,000 from January of last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-reduces-federal-workforce-lowest-level-decade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presided over<\/a> a nearly 6 percent increase in the size of the full-time federal workforce during his tenure, with the total cresting 3 million in September 2024 for the first time since 1990, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/usafacts.org\/articles\/how-many-people-work-for-the-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Facts<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The current number of federal employees is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/jobs-report-stock-market-today-12-16-2025\/card\/trump-cuts-leave-federal-workforce-at-the-smallest-in-over-a-decade-qApyhLh2HRtf7wz5DN4t?mod=lctimeline_finance&amp;gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqcwJoNS5YnNrhMNTzF5vgeAM_La4dxuO_xWFjpCYFOwHIG86BtmuT0aepqRgYc%3D&amp;gaa_ts=6941df9e&amp;gaa_sig=7DCAPL5j02mr2N7bwGM7ycrnDrsoxx0jnG99JgzV98bIUhuqho7np-9bHLYRa4J5v-GW0kyXRfF9hiMgbhL2VQ%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2.744 million<\/a>, the lowest since late <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DA_Stockman\/status\/2000989628216827968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2014<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Finally, under Trump, people\u2019s real income is going up, since wage increases are outpacing inflation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Trump told the Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday, \u201cAfter real wages plummeted by $3,000 under Sleepy Joe Biden, real wages are up by $1,300 in less than one year under President Trump.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inflation is a major tax on all Americans.
