Today, the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS<\/b>)<\/a> posted an article about Israel’s efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement after two Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldiers were killed by terror operatives in Rafah, southern Gaza.<\/span><\/p>\n

Israel on Sunday night reaffirmed its commitment to the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Gaza, which had been threatened after a series of Hamas attacks on IDF soldiers sparked military retaliation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn accordance with the directive of the political echelon, and following a series of significant strikes in response to Hamas\u2019s violations, the [Israel Defense Forces] has begun the renewed enforcement of the ceasefire,\u201d said the army.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe IDF will continue to uphold the ceasefire agreement and will respond firmly to any violation,\u201d the statement added.<\/strong><\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday evening that the incident would be handled \u201ctoughly but properly\u201d and that the truce in the Strip remained in effect.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re gonna have to see what\u2019s happening,\u201d the president said, asked about Israel\u2019s retaliatory strikes. \u201cWe wanna make sure that it\u2019s gonna be very peaceful with Hamas, and as you know, they\u2019ve been quite rambunctious, they\u2019ve been doing some shooting,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, Trump told reporters that it was possible the terrorist group\u2019s leadership \u201cisn\u2019t involved in that,\u201d suggesting that \u201csome rebels within\u201d launched the attacks on Israeli forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n

U.S. Vice President JD Vance, speaking with journalists on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Sunday night, claimed that \u201cwhen we talk about Hamas, you\u2019re talking about 40 different cells; it\u2019s disjointed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir had called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday to \u201cfully resume combat in the Gaza Strip with maximum force\u201d in response to the ceasefire violations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe false illusions that Hamas will change its ways, or even adhere to the agreement it signed, are proving, as expected, to be dangerous to our security. The Nazi terrorist organization must be completely destroyed\u2014and the sooner, the better,\u201d said Ben-Gvir.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded with one word, tweeting on Sunday afternoon: \u201cWar.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the ceasefire deal, Hamas was required to return all 28\u00a0hostage bodies<\/a>\u00a0it held by Oct. 13. So far, it has transferred 12 to Israel. The Palestinian terrorist organization is also\u00a0refusing\u00a0<\/a>to disarm and intends to remain the ruling party in Gaza during an interim period, both in violation of Trump\u2019s 20-point peace plan unveiled on Sept. 29.<\/strong><\/p>\n
