On Monday, Newsbusters<\/a> posted an article about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) which has turned out to be anything but affordable.<\/p>\n

Hold on to your britches because you\u2019re not going to believe this one. The Washington Post <\/em>Editorial Board\u00a0just admitted that the so-called “Affordable Care Act,” one the most notorious pieces of Obama-era legislation foisted upon consumers by legislators and the liberal media as the saving grace of American health care, turned out to be an expensive mess.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Post <\/em>tried\u00a0to play both sides<\/a> of the fence in the ongoing government shutdown stand off with Republicans and Democrats, the latter of which demanded \u201cRepublicans agree to extend the Covid-era insurance subsidies without proposing any way to pay for it.\u201d Then The Post <\/em>ran <\/a>one of the biggest plot twists ever to hit American politics in the last 15 years: \u201cThe real problem is that the Affordable Care Act [Obamacare] was never actually affordable<\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nope, your eyes didn\u2019t deceive you. The architects of former President Barack Obama\u2019s 2010 \u201csignature achievement,\u201d wrote The Post<\/em>, \u201cassumed that risk pools would be bigger than they turned out to be. As a result, policies cost more than expected<\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gee, that\u2019s an awfully different tone than the liberal rag was striking in 2024 when the editorial board celebrated<\/a> how \u201cObamacare is working brilliantly \u2014 for now.\u201d\u00a0That\u2019s despite the fact that premiums for individual market plans doubled in costs and \u201cthe per enrollee cost of Medicaid expansion is nearly 60 percent greater than what experts projected,\u201d as the Paragon Health Institute summarized<\/a> in an October 2024 study.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But now, the years of nonstop pro-Obamacare gaslighting<\/a> and narrative-twisting<\/a> that got spewed out of The Post<\/em>\u2019s printers seems to have been undone by, er, The Post <\/em>itself:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is how entitlement programs work. Once you habituate people to some generous government handout, they grow dependent on it. And it becomes politically perilous, if not impossible, to fully claw it back<\/span>.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is how the Democrat Party works. Install entitlement, blame Republicans when anyone tries to limit it in any way.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Obamacare was never supposed to work–its purpose was to bring America closer to government-controlled (and allocated) healthcare. Why should Americans be able to get surgery quickly when needed when Britain and Canada wait months and sometimes years for necessary surgery. We knew someone in Britain that died during his second year of waiting for heart surgery.
