{"id":61069,"date":"2025-09-30T14:50:43","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T18:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=61069"},"modified":"2025-09-30T14:50:43","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T18:50:43","slug":"google-really-hasnt-changed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=61069","title":{"rendered":"Google Really Hasn&#8217;t Changed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 29, <a href=\"https:\/\/issuesinsights.com\/2025\/09\/29\/google-lied-to-congress-about-its-commitment-to-free-speech-we-have-the-receipts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Issues &amp; Insights<\/a> posted an article about their recent experience with Google censorship.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2025-09-23-letter-to-hjc.pdf\">letter<\/a> to House Judiciary Committee Chairman\u00a0Jim Jordan, the tech colossus said that under pressure from the administration, it silenced voices that were challenging Joe Biden\u2019s COVID-19 policies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cSenior Biden administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the Company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not violate its policies,\u201d it said in a letter to Jordan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>And, as a supposed sign of good faith, Google said it would \u201cprovide an opportunity for all creators to rejoin the platform if the Company terminated their channels for repeated violations of COVID-19 and elections integrity policies that are no longer in effect.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>That this admission comes amid the left\u2019s screaming fits about President Donald Trump\u2019s supposed efforts to silence dissent is interesting. But what\u2019s more curious, and more troubling, is the fact that Google continues to violate what it claims to be its \u201cunwavering\u201d commitment to free speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article includes the following:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GoogleCensorship.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-61070\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GoogleCensorship.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"687\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GoogleCensorship.jpg 687w, https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GoogleCensorship-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GoogleCensorship-460x300.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Opinion columns that point out peculiarities in the 2020 elections are routinely blacklisted. We\u2019ve even had our \u201cWhat We\u2019re Reading\u201d news roundups and articles reporting on <a href=\"https:\/\/issuesinsights.com\/2022\/04\/13\/google-just-declared-war-on-the-most-accurate-pollster-in-america-and-on-most-americans\/\">our own I&amp;I\/TIPP Poll results <\/a>demonetized by Google.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Is this what Google considers an \u201cunwavering commitment\u201d to free expression?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Our articles may be hard-hitting. People might disagree with them \u2013 as many of our readers do in the comments section. We make mistakes from time to time (which we acknowledge and correct).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>But none of this comes anywhere close to being \u201cdangerous\u201d or \u201charmful.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>We also seriously doubt advertisers are clamoring for their ads <em>not<\/em> to appear on Issues &amp; Insights. Which means that Google\u2019s ad bans are nothing more than an attempt by this unrepentant left-wing behemoth to handicap content it doesn\u2019t like by demonetizing it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>We aren\u2019t cowed by this pressure. In fact, we are hoping to raise a relatively modest amount of money from our readers to permanently go ad-free. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">(See our Kill the Ads campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/issuesinsights.com\/lets-make-ii-ad-free\/\">here<\/a>.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>But we are quite certain that many publishers simply won\u2019t touch subjects that Google considers off limits for fear of a massive revenue hit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Perhaps Rep. Jordan can follow up with Google and ask it what it is, exactly, that this company considers \u201cfree expression\u201d and why it continues to demonetize content for purely political reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Censorship isn&#8217;t dead.
