{"id":60564,"date":"2025-08-19T13:18:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T17:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=60564"},"modified":"2025-08-19T13:20:35","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T17:20:35","slug":"the-quest-for-honest-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=60564","title":{"rendered":"The Quest For Honest Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/18\/donald-trump-mail-in-ballots-voting-machines-2026-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Caller<\/a> reported the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>President Donald Trump said in a Monday Truth Social post that he will lead the movement to get rid of mail-in ballots and \u201cinaccurate\u201d voting machines ahead of the 2026 midterms.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115049485680941254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> that he plans on signing an executive order on the matter to help bring \u201chonesty\u201d to the upcoming midterm elections. The president added that elections \u201ccan never be honest\u201d if they include mail-in ballots.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Getting rid of mail-in ballots is not a new idea. In April 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/heed-jimmy-carter-on-the-danger-of-mail-in-voting-11586557667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> reminded us:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2018Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.\u201d That quote isn\u2019t from President Trump, who criticized mail-in voting this week after Wisconsin Democrats tried and failed to change an election at the last minute into an exclusively mail-in affair. It\u2019s the conclusion of the bipartisan 2005 report of the Commission on Federal Election Reform, chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker III.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are times when mail-in ballots are necessary, and allowances need to be make for those times&#8211;military personnel stationed away from their home states, people who are not physically able to make it to the voting places, etc. However, in some instances in recent elections, the number of mail-in ballots was greater than the number of eligible voters in an area.
