On Sunday, Breitbart<\/a> posted an article about one Democrat’s comment about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. The election will be held on November 4th.<\/p>\n

The divide in the Democratic Party further widened this week when Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) publicly said that New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani \u201cisn\u2019t speaking for our party.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Breitbart News previously chronicled, Zohran Mamdani holds extremely far-left positions, most specifically on private property<\/a> and Israel, with some questionable views<\/a> on the Jewish state. Since coming within striking distance of becoming the mayor of New York City, moderate Democrats have been sounding the alarm. Speaking on Fox News Sunday<\/em>, Rep. Adam Smith attempted to distance Mamdani from the rest of the party.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLook, the mayor of New York has never, never, ever been the leader of the Democratic Party,\u201d Smith said when asked about Mamdani.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smith then played off Mamdani\u2019s prominence as being the result of the Democrats\u2019 \u201cBig Tent\u201d platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMamdani isn\u2019t speaking for our party, any more than I\u2019m speaking for our party. It\u2019s a big tent. It\u2019s a big coalition,\u201d he said before attacking President Donald Trump on his \u201cBig, Beautiful Bill.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jewish Democrats also denounced Mamdani for refusing to condemn the phrase \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d while refusing to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTo not be willing to condemn the term \u2018globalize the intifada,\u2019 it just demonstrates his callous disregard for antisemitism, terrorist activity,\u201d said Rep. Debbie\u00a0Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone that I care about couldn\u2019t possibly distance themselves from him more,\u201d\u00a0Wasserman Schultz added. \u201cIt\u2019s really terribly disturbing and potentially dangerous.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fellow\u00a0Jewish Democrat lawmaker Rep.\u00a0Brad Schneider (D-IL) said Mamdani is \u201ceither ignoring or gaslighting the public\u201d when he said \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d is \u201ca peaceful call.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s wrong on all those things,\u201d Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL). \u201cIf he can\u2019t tell people \u2018globalizing the intifada\u2019 \u2014 if he can\u2019t say that that\u2019s antisemitic, then obviously he\u2019s going to continue to add to the problem, not deflate it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
