The Democrat Party has always prided itself on having a \u2018big tent.\u2019 That has become something of a problem lately as they deal with New York City mayoral race and its leading candidate.<\/p>\n

Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani\u2019s refusal to condemn chants of \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d made at the pro-Hamas protests he has frequently defended as a New York state assemblyman and candidate for New York City mayor continues to cause headaches for Democratic Party leaders and further widen existing fissures on the issue of Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n As Legal Insurrection reported, the latest example comes courtesy of DNC Chairman Ken Martin, who in a PBS interview earlier this week tapdanced around the subject when asked about it.<\/strong><\/p>\n Instead of criticizing the Democratic NYC mayoral nominee, Martin cheerfully suggested that the Democratic Party was a \u201cbig tent\u201d and welcomed all kinds of people and views, which apparently includes death chants with which he and others might merely disagree:<\/strong><\/p>\n There\u2019s no candidate in this party that I agree 100% of the time with, to be honest with you. There\u2019s things that I don\u2019t agree with Mamdani that he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n But at the end of the day, I always believe, as a Democratic Party chair in Minnesota for the last 14 years, and now the chair of the DNC, that you win through addition, you win by bringing people into your coalition.<\/strong><\/p>\n You even welcome someone who repeats the \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d slogan. Wow.
