As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearinvestigations.com\/articles\/2023\/09\/12\/the_biden_administration_vastly_misleads_the_public_on_the_vast_expanses_of_land_needed_for_net_zero_977662.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RealClearInvestigations previously reported<\/a>\u00a0regarding the lack of plans for acquiring the massive amounts of land for solar and wind farms needed to achieve net zero, the math can get fuzzy, and the numbers cited most frequently are those rosiest for renewables.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>What\u2019s more,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/windpowernl.com\/2025\/03\/20\/dutch-onshore-wind-turbine-manufacturer-ewt-declared-bankrupt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bankruptcies<\/a>\u00a0among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/climaterealism.com\/2024\/03\/swedish-wind-farms-facing-bankruptcy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European companies<\/a>\u00a0have begun to mar the renewable wind landscape as surely as the towers, a trend that could continue or accelerate as the Trump administration\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/04\/17\/nx-s1-5367582\/trump-new-york-wind-energy-offshore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stops the federal spigot<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe government has let them off the hook by shaping their policies around climate activism,\u201d Shaffer said. \u201cThey\u2019re not putting down escrow money for decommissioning and someone\u2019s going to have to come along and remove them, or we\u2019ll be staring at these rotting towers in the ocean.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The blades are so big that they are usually broken into three pieces when decommissioned, and the giant chunks of fiberglass, resin, and composite materials go to landfills or warehouses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Already, horror stories exist of municipalities faced with decommissioning problems. Towns like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasmonthly.com\/news-politics\/sweetwater-wind-turbine-blades-dump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sweetwater, Texas<\/a>, which for many years has been the leading state for wind power, have seen\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtoinsider.com\/56762-ge-sues-wind-turbine-blade-recycling-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">turbine recycling contracts<\/a>\u00a0ignored.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalfiberglass.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Fiberglass Solutions,<\/a>\u00a0one of the companies handling such contracts, did not return requests for comment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cYou can\u2019t reuse turbines, and there are now thousands upon thousands of blades just sitting there in warehouses already,\u201d Isaac said. \u201cIt\u2019s an environmental disaster we\u2019re looking at.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><em>This article was originally published by RealClearInvestigations.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is nothing environmentally friendly about either wind or solar energy when you look at the bigger picture&#8211;how it is manufactured and how it has to be disposed of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a picture of a landfill with used windmill turbine blades.
