In recent years it has been given to news outlets for being part of the Russia hoax with no intention of returning it after the hoax was revealed. I didn&#8217;t think it could go lower, but it has.<\/p>\n<p>On May 6th, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/06\/wapo-wins-pulitzer-after-downplaying-trump-assassination-attempt-as-loud-noises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Federalist<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>On Monday The Washington Post announced that it won a Pulitzer Prize in the breaking news category for its coverage of the July 13, 2024, attempted assassination of Donald Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The \u201ccoverage\u201d in question?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>That Trump was \u201ctaken away after loud noises at rally,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/zuZp8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to a July 13 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tombevanrcp\/status\/1812253949086622069\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/pr\/2025\/05\/05\/washington-post-2025-pulitzer-prize-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to the Post\u2019s self-congratulatory write-up on its award, WaPo\u2019s \u201clive-updates file\u201d \u2014 from which the aforementioned headline came \u2014 earned the paper what was once journalism\u2019s top honor, the Pulitzer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe Post\u2019s first report from Butler published almost immediately, at 6:21 p.m., in a live-updates file,\u201d the article reads. \u201cThe source of the loud noises was not immediately clear.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>But they weren\u2019t just \u201cloud noises.\u201d They were gunshots that ripped through Trump\u2019s ear and killed firefighter and father Corey Comperatore, who died shielding his family from the assassin\u2019s bullet. In fact, the Post knew the gravity of the situation because it published that headline with the featured photo showing blood pouring down the side of Trump\u2019s face.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Yet, the Post still went with \u2014 and won an award for \u2014 that angle. Two days later, the paper\u2019s Paul Farhi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/style\/media\/2024\/07\/15\/media-backlash-trump-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defended<\/a> the media\u2019s coverage that deliberately downplayed the horrific event, saying media outlets \u201creported cautiously about what had occurred\u201d since \u201cit wasn\u2019t immediately clear what was unfolding.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you saw President Trump being rushed off the stage, then you saw the picture of the President with blood running down his face.
