{"id":58907,"date":"2025-03-29T12:31:21","date_gmt":"2025-03-29T16:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=58907"},"modified":"2025-03-29T12:31:21","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T16:31:21","slug":"energy-independence-is-good-for-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=58907","title":{"rendered":"Energy Independence Is Good For Everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/wardclark\/2025\/03\/27\/drill-baby-drill-alaska-native-tribes-applaud-trump-admins-moves-to-open-north-slope-oil-fields-n2187171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red State<\/a> posted an article about the Trump administration&#8217;s resumption of drilling in Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Donald Trump&#8217;s 2024 election victory over Kamala Harris is one of the better things that has happened in our nation for some time, and all of the various benefits of that win are still making themselves known. One of the areas in which Americans will benefit from this is in energy, and in Alaska, that benefit will be felt not only in reduced energy prices, but in jobs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Alaska&#8217;s economy depends in large part on mining and energy development, and on the North Slope, where many of Alaska&#8217;s Native communities are found, as much as 95 percent of the local economies are dependent on oil and gas development. Those communities are about to get a big economic boost, and they are on record applauding the Trump administration&#8217;s <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/03\/26\/alaskan-tribes-applaud-trump-admin-revoking-deeply-flawed-biden-admin-energy-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>resumption of drilling.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The article notes the reaction of someone representing the Alaskan Native Americans:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s cautious optimism,\u201dNagruk Harcharek, president of <a href=\"https:\/\/voiceofthearcticinupiat.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Voice of the Arctic I\u00f1upiat<\/a>, (VOICE) a nonprofit organization that represents 21 different Native American corporations and communities in Alaska, told the DCNF (Daily Caller News Foundation). \u201cWe feel like we\u2019re going to be able to get some things done with a more favorable administration, but we\u2019re also being careful about it because we don\u2019t want to threaten that cultural base and lifestyle that we rely on every day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>&#8230;Harcharek noted that 95% of the North Slope budget comes from oil and gas infrastructure taxes. \u201cThe economy in the North Slope is oil and gas activity,\u201d he said. Schools, healthcare, roads and running water all came from the \u201ceconomic base our early leaders ensured that we had access to,\u201d Harcharek said, expressing concerns that without access to oil and gas resource development, their community is forced \u201cto rely on the state and the federal government.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article notes a very important aspect of the debate over drilling in Alaska:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>So, jobs, or dependency. Nothing could more starkly illustrate the difference in the two major political parties; one is in favor of development, of abundant, inexpensive energy and the economic benefits that come with it, and jobs, good-paying jobs, for communities in one of the most isolated places on the planet.
