On Tuesday, Breitbart<\/a> posted an article about the recently passed Continuing Resolution (CR). The article might explain part of the reason we are having so much trouble bringing down the federal deficit.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) revealed<\/a> on The<\/em>\u00a0Alex Marlow Show<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that one Republican lawmaker bristled about how the stop-gap spending did not have any earmarks, including his own.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perry spoked to\u00a0Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Marlow as the House passed the stop-gap spending bill, otherwise known as a continuing resolution (CR), that freezes government spending for six months.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pennsylvania conservative argued that the advancement of the CR is a victory in itself, as it blocked congressional leadership from advancing an omnibus spending bill.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s different and the context about this is that we didn\u2019t get our appropriations done, but our leadership wanted to do an omnibus. They wanted that four corners deal. The CR is not the four corners deal. They don\u2019t want the CR; they\u2019ve been forced into it by people like me and quite honestly, the president,\u201d Perry said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former Freedom Caucus chairman also cheered the CR\u2019s lack of earmarks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no earmarks in this thing,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am not a fan of CR’s (although I believe this one is necessary), but I am a fan of no earmarks.<\/p>\n

The article concludes:<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a Republican member complaining to me at a meeting this morning. He\u2019s grumbling, well I guess I have to vote for this, but you know, my earmarks aren\u2019t it. I\u2019m thinking, you\u2019re talking to the guy, brother,\u201d Perry said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not into that,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Keystone State conservative also noted that America has not seen a normal congressional appropriations process. He said that the last time Congress went through the \u201cnormal\u201d appropriations process was in 1996.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to find a new way to do business,\u201d he argued.<\/strong><\/p>\n
