On Monday, Breitbart<\/a> reported the following:<\/p>\n The Biden administration released 11 Yemeni terrorists, who were captured after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, from Guantanamo Bay.<\/strong><\/p>\n While the men had been \u201capproved for transfer by national security officials\u201d more than two years ago, they were approved to be transferred to Oman on Monday, according<\/a> to NPR News.<\/strong><\/p>\n Oman reportedly \u201cagreed to help resettle them and provide security monitoring\u201d for the 11 prisoners, who are described as being \u201cformer al-Qaeda members,\u201d according to records from the U.S. Department of Defense.<\/strong><\/p>\n The outlet noted that the transfers of the prisoners were \u201coriginally scheduled to happen in October 2023,\u201d but were paused\u00a0\u201cdue to concerns\u201d regarding the \u201cinstability in the Middle East\u201d in the aftermath of Hamas\u2019s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n That the plan was resurrected during President Biden\u2019s final two weeks in office signals a last-ditch effort by his administration to shrink Guantanamo\u2019s prisoner population and get closer to his goal of trying to close the facility. In recent weeks, the U.S. has transferred four other Guantanamo inmates \u2014 a Kenyan, a Tunisian and two Malaysians \u2014 and is preparing for the transfer of at least one more, an Iraqi.<\/strong><\/p>\n This is not smart. In 2015 I noted that about 30 percent of the prisoners released have gone back to terrorism (article here<\/a>). At a time of heightened terrorism alerts in America and around the world, why would you free terrorists. It should be noted that there are no \u201cformer al-Qaeda members.\u201d When dealing with ‘former al-Qaeda members,’ Americans (and others) need to keep in mind that in the Islamic faith there is a principle called “taqiyya,” generally described as lying for the sake of Islam.<\/p>\n The decision to release terrorists is a decision that will come back to bite us. Even if the terrorists we are releasing are older now, they will still be involved in planning terrorist attacks in the future.
