It does not allow for non-citizens to vote. The Nineteenth Amendment allows women who are citizens of the United States to vote. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that non-citizens have the right to vote. The fact that non-citizens are counted in the census is the result of a court case&#8211;not a law passed by any legislature.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/22\/oregon-dmv-busted-allowing-people-of-unknown-citizenship-to-register-to-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Federalist<\/a> posted an article illustrating how one state is not complying with the Constitution in its voting practices.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles has directed its employees to process the voter registration of those with \u201cunknown citizenship\u201d status, simply requiring that they claim eligibility, The Federalist has learned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cIf you don\u2019t prove that you\u2019re not a U.S. citizen, then you will be asked if you want to self-attest to being a citizen, and they will assist you with registering to vote,\u201d Republican state Rep. Ed Diehl told The Federalist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Early last month, Democrat Gov. Tina Kotek <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.oregon.gov\/oregon-newsroom\/OR\/GOV\/Posts\/Post\/governor-kotek-announces-actions-following-oregon-motor-voter-program-data-errors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paused<\/a> Oregon\u2019s \u201cmotor voter\u201d program as the state began a cursory investigation into how the system had registered more than <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/08\/audit-oregon-registered-even-more-potentially-ineligible-voters-bringing-the-total-to-more-than-1500\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1,500 potential noncitizens<\/a> to vote, as The Federalist previously reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>In response to this discovery, Diehl met with state DMV leaders on Oct. 21. He said the DMV has reverted to only registering voters with a form that relies on attestation to prove citizenship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cI\u200b\u200bnstead of being optional \u2014 a side track basically for voter registration \u2014 it\u2019s right now the only way,\u201d Diehl said.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Though the \u201cmotor voter\u201d process that Kotek paused allowed more than 1,500 individuals to vote without proof of citizenship, that process theoretically required some level of documentary proof of citizenship, in contrast with the current registration method Diehl described.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>After discovering noncitizens on the voter rolls, Kerns [Griffin-Valade\u2019s (Oregon&#8217;s Secretary of State) Communications Director Laura Kerns] said the secretary of state took steps to hire a \u201cmotor voter oversight\u201d position in the Oregon Elections Division\u201d to establish a process with the DMV of \u201cregular data checks and review processes\u201d with the elections division and update administrative rules.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Jeff Eager, former <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Jeff_Eager?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mayor<\/a> of Bend, Oregon, who <a href=\"https:\/\/oregonroundup.substack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writes<\/a> on state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/author\/jeff-eager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">politics<\/a>, told The Federalist he has been trying to obtain public records regarding the \u201cmotor voter\u201d program placing noncitizens on the rolls. The DMV <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Jeff_Eager\/status\/1853472817729454197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">postponed<\/a> releasing records until after the election.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cIt looks to me like they\u2019re playing games with the response by continually delaying it,\u201d Eager said. \u201cThe concern here is that it\u2019s the tip of the iceberg, because you have the majority of voters in Oregon having registered to vote without providing proof of citizenship at all.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time to require all states to comply with the law limiting voting in federal elections to citizens or their Representatives and Senators should not be seated and their Electoral College votes not counted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fifteenth Amendment protects the rights of citizens of the United States to vote.
