On Tuesday, Breitbart<\/a> posted an article about some of Vice-President Kamala Harris’ comments on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

CLAIM: Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that former President Donald Trump \u201csent an armed mob\u201d to the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

VERDICT: False.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

While speaking from the Ellipse in Washington, DC, on Tuesday night, Harris delivered her closing statements. In her closing statement, Harris claimed that Trump had \u201csent an armed mob\u201d to the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, though the riot had started even before Trump finished speaking.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe know who Donald Trump is,\u201d Harris told the crowd. \u201cHe is the person who stood at this very spot nearly four years ago and sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people in a free and fair election. An election that he knew he lost.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I guess there are people who believe that, but it is a false and slanderous statement.<\/p>\n

As Breitbart News\u2019s Bradley Jaye has previously reported, Trump has previously \u201ccountered that not only did he authorize additional security after protesters entered the Capitol but in fact had requested and approved National Guard troops in advance\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI was all set to bring in the National Guard,\u201d Trump said, bashing the committee for only releasing information strategically to damage Trump. \u201cThey heard that, they say them coming, and they left immediately.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Breitbart News\u2019s Joel Pollak has previously reported<\/a> that former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) ended up walking back a claim that Trump \u201cincited\u201d the riot on January 6.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pollak noted that \u201cthe question of incitement\u201d was key to Democrats\u2019 argument against Trump during his second impeachment trial, adding that Trump\u2019s defense team, at the time, pointed out that the riot had already started prior to Trump finishing his speech:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article concludes with President Trump’s Twitter post from that day:<\/p>\n
