The Pentagon is looking into the leak of intelligence information related to an upcoming Israeli attack<\/a> on Iran. It was America\u2019s responsibility to keep the information safe, officials say.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The leak likely has \u201cdeeply\u201d damaged U.S.-Israeli relations during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, says Victoria Coates<\/a>, Heritage Foundation vice president in charge of the Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy. The leak is \u201cvery, very concerning,\u201d\u00a0she says.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After Iran fired<\/a> nearly 200 ballistic missiles Oct. 1 at Israel, the Jewish state announced that it would respond. The leaked documents don\u2019t include specific targets that Israel plans to strike, but do include surveillance information.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Release of that information \u201cdefinitely\u201d has changed Israel\u2019s original response plan, Coates says.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Iranians<\/a> clearly have this information,\u201d she says. \u201cWe don\u2019t know what other information they have, and so I think Israel can and should take the time they need to develop an alternative plan.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
