There evidently was a dust-up between a photographer with President Trump and some cemetery workers at Arlington National Cemetery this week. The press (of course) is blaming President Trump. Evidently that is not entirely accurate.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Breitbart<\/a> posted an article about the incident.<\/p>\n The article reports:<\/p>\n Families of American servicemembers who were killed during the Biden administration\u2019s withdrawal from Afghanistan revealed that they had given \u201capproval\u201d for photos and videos to be taken at Arlington Cemetery on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a joint statement<\/a>, Darrin Hoover and Kelly Barnett, the parents of Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover; Christy Shamblin, the mother-in-law of Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole Gee; Misty Rose Fuoco, Gee\u2019s sister; and Cheryl Juels, Gee\u2019s aunt, explained that they had given the approval for Trump\u2019s \u201cofficial videographer and photographer\u201d to attend the ceremony.<\/strong><\/p>\n The statement from the family members of the fallen servicemembers comes after NPR released<\/a> an article claiming<\/a> that Trump campaign staff had gotten into a \u201cverbal and physical altercation\u201d with a cemetery official who had attempted to prevent them from taking videos and photos.<\/strong><\/p>\n A source informed the outlet that cemetery officials had supposedly \u201cmade clear that only cemetery staff members are authorized to take photographs or film\u201d in Section 60.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe had given our approval for President Trump\u2019s official videographer and photographer to attend the event, ensuring these sacred moments of remembrance were respectfully captured and so we can cherish these memories forever,\u201d the families said in the joint statement.<\/strong><\/p>\n The article notes:<\/p>\n The families added that they were \u201cdeeply grateful\u201d that Trump had taken \u201cthe time to honor\u201d their children and \u201cfor standing alongside\u201d the families as they dealt with their grief.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe are deeply grateful to the president for taking the time to honor our children and for standing alongside us in our grief, offering his unwavering support during such a difficult time,\u201d the families added in their statement. \u201cHis compassion and respect meant more than words can express.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung issued a statement in response to the allegations, and noted that \u201cthere was no physical altercation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThere was no physical altercation as described and we are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made,\u201d Cheung said in his statement. \u201cThe fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump\u2019s team during a very solemn ceremony.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n In a post<\/a> on X, Cheung shared a photo that stated \u201conly\u201d Trump could \u201chave an official photographer and\/or videographer outside of the main media pool.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Our taxes support NPR. I think it is long past time for that to end.
