{"id":56115,"date":"2024-08-15T10:31:22","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T14:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=56115"},"modified":"2024-08-15T10:31:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T14:31:22","slug":"good-news-for-those-of-us-who-emit-co2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=56115","title":{"rendered":"Good News For Those Of Us Who Emit CO2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/wattsupwiththat.com\/2024\/08\/13\/another-new-study-finds-rising-co2-enhances-planetary-greening-and-reduces-drought-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wattsupwiththat<\/a> posted an article about increased levels of CO2.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>One of the more commonly-stated concerns linked to \u201cglobal warming\u201d is that sweltering heat will parch the terrestrial landscape (browning), limit vegetation growth, and foment water shortages \u2013 even widespread drought.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>However, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/1748-9326\/ad5f43\/pdf\">new study<\/a>\u00a0suggests the Earth\u2019s rising CO2 concentration has the exact opposite effect in the real world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>In their extensive trend analysis spanning the last few decades, the scientists determined elevated CO2 was the single most \u201cdominant driver\u201d (accounting for 45% of the correlation) when assessing the link between reducing vegetation water demand and improved water use efficiency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Compared to CO2, temperature and precipitation, for example, play a far less significant role (10-11% of the correlation) in influencing the trend in improved vegetation growth and water use efficiency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><em>\u201cThe CO2 fertilization effect has benefits for both vegetation growth and water use efficiency (WUE).\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><em>\u201c\u2026elevated CO2 concentrations could indirectly enhance water availability by improving [water use efficiency]\u2026reducing vegetation water demand.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please follow the link to the article. The science here is way above my pay grade, but I will say that I have heard other scientists say this.
