On Wednesday, The New York Post<\/a> reported that Jon Stewart, after stating that “that Donald Trump\u2019s civil real-estate case overvaluing his properties was \u201cnot victimless,\u201d” was found to have done similar things.<\/p>\n

When The New York Post did some investigating, this is what they found:<\/p>\n

But it didn\u2019t take long for\u00a0internet sleuths\u00a0<\/a>to look into Stewart\u2019s own property history, which shows his New York City penthouse sold for 829% more than its assessed value, records confirmed by The Post reveal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande\u00a0for $17.5 million<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The property\u2019s asking price at that time is not available in listing records.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property had the estimated market-value at only $1.882 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n

…The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that assessor valuation price \u2014 precisely what he called Trump out for doing in his\u00a0Monday monologue.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pande, who purchased the penthouse from Stewart, then resold the property at a nearly 26% loss, according to\u00a0the Real Deal<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0at just over $13 million \u2014 in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n
