According to the U.S. Constitution, Congress and the Supreme Court are co-equal branches of government&#8211;neither has oversight responsibility over the other.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>According to both Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, 15 Democrats from the Judiciary Committee have sent a letter to the Appropriations Committee asking that funding for the security that defends the lives of the Supreme Court Justices and their families be denied until the Court buckles to the demands of the Democrats.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article reports those demands:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Democrats are making demands that the Court accept a Code of Ethics being pushed by the Left, and apparently, they have threatened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2023\/05\/02\/disgraceful-gop-senators-accuse-dems-threatening-yank-supreme-court-justices-security-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to withhold funding for the security details that protect the Justices unless Chief Justice Roberts caves to their demands<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article quotes The Washington Post:<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-type=\"paragraph\"><strong>Justice Samuel Alito was supposed to speak to law students at George Mason University in Arlington, Va., but when they showed up, he wasn\u2019t there. \u201cThat Alito was speaking via closed circuit from a room at the Supreme Court seven miles away, rather than in person, was a sign these are not normal times,\u201d the Washington Post <a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/12\/samuel-alito-roe-wade-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\">reported<\/a>. The Post didn\u2019t explain what made the \u201ctimes\u201d abnormal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-type=\"paragraph\"><strong>It wasn\u2019t a lingering fear of Covid-19. In a mid-April interview in his chambers, Justice Alito fills us in on the May 12, 2022, event: \u201cOur police conferred with the George Mason Police and the Arlington Police and they said, \u2018It\u2019s not a good idea. He shouldn\u2019t come here. .\u00a0.\u00a0. The security problems will be severe.\u2019 So I ended up giving the speech by Zoom,\u201d he says. \u201cStill, there were so many protesters and they were so loud that you could hear them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-type=\"paragraph\"><strong>&#8230;He adds that \u201cI don\u2019t feel physically unsafe, because we now have a lot of protection.\u201d He is \u201cdriven around in basically a tank, and I\u2019m not really supposed to go anyplace by myself without the tank and my members of the police force.\u201d Deputy U.S. marshals guard the justices\u2019 homes 24\/7. (The U.S. Marshals Service, a bureau of the Justice Department, is distinct from the marshal of the court, who reports to the justices and oversees the Supreme Court Police.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-k3zb6l-Paragraph e1e4oisd0\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-type=\"paragraph\"><strong>A <a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\">federal law<\/a> called Section 1507 makes it a crime to picket or parade \u201cin or near\u201d a federal judge\u2019s residence \u201cwith the intent of influencing\u201d him \u201cin the discharge of his duty.\u201d During a hearing last month, Attorney General Merrick Garland <a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/basedmikelee\/status\/1648711516470878213\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\">told<\/a> Sen. Mike Lee (R., Utah) that the marshals have \u201cfull authority to arrest\u201d violators of Section 1507. But according to <a class=\"css-1h1us5y-StyledLink el06won0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britt.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/U.S.-Marshals-SCOTUS-Training-Slides.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-type=\"link\">training slides<\/a> obtained by Sen. Katie Britt (R., Ala.), deputies on the justices\u2019 residential details are told to enforce the law only as \u201ca last resort to prevent physical harm to the Justices and\/or their families.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-type=\"paragraph\">Maybe it&#8217;s time to send our Justices through Concealed Carry Training and issue them weapons.
